[Tanner Lessing]

After Tanner woke up in his hospital bed and was done with his conversation with the nurse about what happened three days ago.
"Goodbye miss have a good day."
As she left the room he heard another conversation happening on the other side of it between the nurse and some other person he couldn't quite hear what was being talked about.
Hm well it's either about me waking up only somewhat hysterical at first and now being mostly coherent or its some other thing going on.
Then a doctor came into the room and asked if he was feeling well enough for visitors.
"Yeah I think I should be OK."
Tanners mom came into the room as soon as the doctor opened the door, embracing Tanner, saying something about how they wouldn't let her or his father into the room till now. And that she was so relieved about him being alive. He noticed she was crying and hugged her back.
"Um, Mom your squeezing the life out of me." Tanner was starting to feel light headed.
His mom then proceeded to let him go and apologized. Then his father came into the room and said that he was happy to see Tanner awake again.
(Frank Lessing speaking) "Son, there is some else here to see you he says he is from a special private school in Vermont for children like you. Your mother and I have talked about it with them and we will be willing to let you go there if you want to. I know it would be a huge change but, we think it would be best for you."
(Marie Lessing speaking) "*Sniff sniff* That's right but... but we would like you to stay at home for at least another week before you decide to go if you do."
(Tanner Speaking) "Wait wait.. What do you mean children like me?" Tanners voice was filled with confusion as he had barely remembered the night three days ago.
(Marie Speaking)"Frank he doesn't know what he did..."
(Frank Speaking)Frank turned and held his son then kept his hands on Tanners shoulders and looked him in the face.
"Son, your a meta-human."
Tanners face was full of shock from the news and as he caught a glimpse of the night a few days ago of him getting shot.
"I was... was shot... wait how am I a meta-human I should have shown my power by now right? Plus, I don't remember doing anything special."
Franks face was suddenly very serious with a twinge of sadness. "Apparently there are what they call 'late bloomers'... Tanner I could tell you what the man who brought you in said what happened... But it could be painful for you to know. Are you sure you want to know?"
"Frank! Why would you even give him that option!"
Frank turned towards his wife and said "He deserves to know if he wants to Marie."
Tanner was confused by what his parent were talking about this was all very overwhelming since he just woke up. However he knew that he would want to know what happened three days ago so he said, "Mom it's OK really I want to know." Then he looked towards his father."Dad tell me what happened."
Frank sighed " What happened Tanner is that when the guy who brought you in told the police what happened he said that he heard gunshots called the police as he went to investigate..." Frank paused for a second to gain some composure this is when Tanner realized how distraught he father really was."He says when he got the the ally way he say a man shoot you two more where you were on the ground still trying to wrestle away the gun and you collapsed... Then your power came to life... He said you seemed unconscious but the bullets in your body were pushed out with 'your blood' which freaked out the man and then some of your... your blood hit the guy who shot you cover parts of his face and clothes and... and then he toppled over and then your blood drew itself onto your wounds and scabbed almost immediately. Which was then later ruined by the fact that you were internally bleeding. When the police and ambulance got there they took you and the guy with the gun to the hospital from what they can tell the shock and head injury from the incident induced a coma in the criminal." Frank had a serious look in his face as he explained all this as Tanner heard more and more of the story his face became twisted in horror then he looked at his own body.
"I... Wow... Is it... Is it wrong that I don't really feel that bad for him?"
Marie looked at her son with a shocked look. "How can you not feel bad for the man you accidentally hospitalized?"
Tanner looked at his mom " I don't know... I don't really fell good about what I did but I feel... Awful that I did this but, I don't feel bad for him, he was mugging me after all... Can we talk about this later? What was this school you talked about?"
Frank said,"It's called the Hammel Institute. It's a school that helps meta-humans with there powers but it's also still a high school so you wouldn't be missing out on your schooling. But, it is in Vermont we could keep in touch with you through letters or your phone if you want to go to it your mother and I have already talked to the recruiter they are actually already here if you want to talk to them."
Tanner though about this for a minute This could be a good thing for me... Lets see what they have to offer.
"If the doctors don't mind I would be alright with talking to them now."
He looked to the doctor and the doctor said,"If you're feeling up to it I will allow it but if I think you get too worked up or overexcited I will kick everyone out and give you time to calm down we don't want you sleeping for another three days."
Tanner smiled " I feel well enough could you send the person in? And would everyone else mind leaving? I just want to talk to them about this myself."
Everyone agreed although his parents seemed reluctant to go out of the room leaving Tanner alone to think while they went to get this person he knows nothing about that will talk to him about a school he had just heard of.

[Hatsuharu Kenjutsushi]

Hatsuharu received his next assignment earlier that day. The incident in question sounded... Complex, if nothing else. But Hatsu had a knack for picking up the interestingly complex cases. So he caught the next available flight to Seattle, settling in and reading over the file for good measure. He knew the boy's name was Tanner, and that he'd been shot. Given the explanation, he could make a detailed assumption on the powers. But why would he? He just had to meet the boy.

At the hospital, he'd met with the doctors and been briefed again, before being introduced to the parents. There he explained the Hammel Institute to the best of his ability. And that it was not a matter of if, but when. For their safety it was always a matter of when. Patiently, he waited outside the room, eager to know if he'd get a chance to meet the boy in question. When the doctor approached him, he gave the blonde Recruiter the all clear, and he tentatively made his way into the room.

A Hemokinetic. It'd been a while since he'd encountered one of those.

"Afternoon - Tanner, is it?" Hatsuharu asked, closing the door behind him and taking a few steps into the room. "I'm Hatsuharu. Feel free to call me Hatsu, instead. I heard you had some questions that needed answering."

Tanner was at first a little suprised by the combination of dark eyes and blonde hair but got over it quickly.
Could be dye I mean here people have green and neon blue hair so blonde isn't so abnormal.
"Ya I'm Tanner... Umm well half of me asking to talk to you alone is to get a little time to gather my thoughts... I don't remember much from a few days ago so I'm just processing some of the information that has been fed into me. Sorry I don't mean to use you but, I little quite is nice."
Tanner sat in quite thought for a few minutes. Taking in all the new information and the presence of the recruiter Hatsu.

[Hatsuharu Kenjutsushi]

Hatsu offered a light smile at his surprise. He knew people found his hair interesting; sometimes even a point in conversation. He was used to it by now, and took no offense from people's reactions. They were as natural as his hair colour wasn't.

"I understand." Hatsu spoke, nodding after his words. He understood that this process was difficult, so the Recruiter took a seat in the nearby chair and sat back. "Take all the time you need." He folded his hands in his lap and glanced away, waiting as long as he needed to to be called on.

After about ten minutes Tanner spoke up.
"So... Other then the whole meta-human angle Hammel is just like a normal high school right?"

[Hatsuharu Kenjutsushi]

Ten minutes was a long time to most, but Hatsuharu was used to the silence. He'd been followed to Hammel and Eisai once or two by people who didn't dare to speak a single word. More complex cases.

When Tanner spoke up, he leaned forward in his seat to address him properly. "Exactly. Every student and almost all the teachers have special abilities, like you. But Hammel has the means to help you understand the power you have. The difference is that you'll be assigned to a trainer who's personally help you train and control your ability. New meta-humans are prone to... Potentially dangerous outburts. We aim to make sure that doesn't happen."

[Tanner Lessing]

"Yeah that could be a problem if you have something particularly dangerous as a power. So with it being in Vermont is there a place on campus I would stay or is there some other living quarters off campus? Considering the commute I don't think I could stay with my parents."
Tanner made small smile for the joke he said.
Yup leave it to me to make a joke in a serious situation.

[Hatsuharu Kenjutsushi]

Hatsu replied to the joke with a small laugh. He knew how much humour helped break the ice in these kind of situations, and was more than willing to go along with it. "There are dormitories on campus for you to live in. Co-ed or single-sex, depending on you or your parent's preference for you." He explained. The choice was usually made by parents, unless they allowed the students to choose for themselves.

"Are you scared?" Hatsuharu asked, flipping the conversation for the time being. "Do you know what happened to you?"

[Tanner Lessing]

Tanner shook his head.
"I remember very little I only know what I did because my dad told me that I did it. It's a little scary to think that I can use my blood to do this but, I guess if I didn't I might be dead," Tanner shuddered, "That's scarier then thinking about what I can do. So, the school sounds interesting and I would like to go but, in my current condition, it might take me a while to go there. That and there are goodbyes to say and things to gather moving to the other side of the country is probably going to be a long process."

[Hatsuharu Kenjutsushi]

Hatsuharu simply nodded. Yeah, he knew that hemokinetics sometimes struggled to come to terms with the severity of what they could do. It was as physically challenging as it was mentally. "Our hope is that through guidance from the school, you won't be afraid of your ability, and what you can do." He explained, though he knew it wasn't a sure thing.

"Now that I'm here..." He paused, wondering how he was supposed to go about this. "I'm required to stay until you're fit to leave. If that means waiting a few days, so be it. I don't want to take you there until you're absolutely sure you're ready."

[Tanner Lessing]

Tanner nodded.
"It could take a while to recover but, I can have my parents pack my things and I can say goodbye to my friends here in the hospital... Hatsu have you ever seen my power before? I don't even remember using it and I don't really know what to call it either."

[Hatsuharu Kenjutsushi]

"We have a very capable nursing staff at Hammel." Hatsu explained, nodding his head to the fact. "Actually, my sister works as a doctor at the school. We'll likely travel when you're well enough, not completely healed. But I have confidence in the knowledge that she'll look after you."

It was all part of the job; staying behind and being unable to leave a student's side. When posed with another question, Hatsu took the time to think about it. "I have before. A few times, actually. The situation isn't usually so intense. You're the first I've met using his abilities to save his own life."

[Tanner Lessing]

"Ah... I guess it's all very different isn't it?"
Tanner thought for a minute.
"So how could the Hammel staff heal me any... faster... It has something to do with a meta-human power doesn't it?"

[Hatsuharu Kenjutsushi]

"It is. But it's an adjustment you'll cope with in due time." Hatsu replied, knowing all too well what that adjustment was like. He'd gone through something of the sort three times already.

"Not specifically. The main point is that we need to get you there as soon as possible. It's both for your safety and our convenience." After all, doctors were on high alert for meta-humans. That was how he got the call in the first place. "But yes, ideally a meta-human doctor will understand your issues more than a regular one might."

[Tanner Lessing]

"Okay... well I'll just call my friends and have my parents get my things ready if the doctors are willing I should be ready in a few days."
