Sexy and We Know It (Charlie)

Having finished his piece for the paper early Stefan was treating himself to a night out at the club. Not that he need a reason better than "I'm breathing" to treat himself to drinks, but it was always nice to have one.

He'd been drinking since well before five so he was fairly plastered by now. Which mean it was time to turn on the charm. How else was one supposed to find a ride home? Sexy people didn't call for a cab.

Even without alcohol, Stefan rarely had problems with low self-confidence, but tonight he felt on fire. Drink in hand, he turned in his bar stool to scan the crowd for potential prospects. He spotted a man alone at a table and sweet Jesus, he was good-looking.

Walking over to the table, his cane used for as much stability as for taking pressure off his bad leg, he grinned as he approached the man.

"Excuse me," he said. "Can I borrow that quarter? My mom told me to call home when I fell in love."

It's a wonder Stefan and his bad pick-up lines weren't featured in anti-drinking promotions.

The best part of being a phone sex operator was that he got to pick and chose his hours being one of the senior operators. Which meant he often left himself free to do as he pleased most evenings or nights. And, making a dollar a minute, usually left a bit of a hole burning in his pocket. Thus, leading the Brit to the bar that evening. His usual outing buddy, G, was busy with something or other. Probably writing more music to play for one of their videos.

It left the man on his own for the evening, to find somebody new and interesting to provide him company.

Don’t misunderstand; Charlie was not on the prowl. It wasn’t as if he needed to go home with somebody. Oh, he’d very much like to, but if he didn’t, no big deal. But he did consider himself quite lucky when he was approached by a gentleman. Older. Much older. Not that that bothered him. The opposite actually. Charlie had a thing for already man for a multitude of reasons.

“Oi.” Charlie chuckled, smiling at him. “How pissed does a bloke gotta be to use that line?” The younger man used his foot to push the chair out in offering to the older man. “Now, you wouldn’t wanna keep me company for awhile, wouldja’?”

Charlie was nothing short of forward. At the very least, he’d could make a friend and have interesting conversation. “I’m Charlie.” He offered his hand and a flirty smile.

Stefan always needed someone to be with. Although some might think he always needed someone in the bed next to him, he wasn’t so picky. As long as he was with someone, he didn’t care what they were doing. He just wanted another living, breathing human to be near. To talk to. To watch. Touching was just an added bonus.

Stefan returned the other man’s smile. Sometimes his lines seemed to have the opposite effect. And the drunker he got, they always seemed to get a bit more cheesy. Still this handsome fella didn’t seem to mind them at all. “I’d be just plain delighted,” he said as he took the seat next to the man.

“Charlie,” Stefan echoed, storing the name to memory. “Wonderful, I’m Stefan.” He took the other man’s hand and welcomed the flirtatious smile even more. “Can I get you something to drink, honey?”

Charlie’s smile grew as Stefan sat to join him. Immediately, the younger man folded his arms across his chest and propped them on to the edge of the table, leaning an inch or two closer to his new friend. “Just plain delighted, huh? I’m afraid you might just be assuming that I’m interesting. I’ll warn you that you’re horribly mistaken as I’m dreadfully boring.” He didn’t truly believe he was boring. But he’d look forward to proving himself wrong.

“Well, Stefan, I don’t know about you, but my night is certainly looking up now. I mean, how often is an arse like me lucky enough to grab the attention of a chap like you?” He said after chugging the last of his mug of beer. “And you can absolutely buy me another drink. On one condition. That being you don’t call me ‘honey’. If you’re looking for a nickname, Chips. Or Babe. I’ll even answer to Hot Stuff.”

After meeting eyes with the waitress and signaling for another round, Charlie turned his attention back to Stefan. “I hate to be the one to initiate something as inane as small talk, but tell me, what do you do? Surely something where people are able to stare longingly at you.”

Stefan had to suppress his delighted giggle as the younger man leaned in closer. It was one thing for someone to be comfortable around him, but quite another for them to inch in closer. Even this drunk, Stefan could read the meanings in the man's subtle gestures.

But after Charlie's comment, he couldn't hold in his chuckle. "I don't think that will be a problem," Stefan said. "Even if you are as...mundane as you claim that will just leave room for more...physical conversation." He winked at the younger man before turning to seek out the closest waitress for more drinks.

"Stop by this bar more often and I can guarantee your luck will improve." Stefan said. "And I think Hot Stuff will do just fine." He gave Charlie a long look up and down, as if to say that he thought the name fit perfectly on the younger man.

After secruring a fresh round of beer and a few shots, Stefan also leaned in closer to the younger man. "Nothing wrong with small talk. As long as it leads to something...deeper." He laughed again at Charlie's suggestion of his career. "No, sadly. I'm a very generous man, so I wouldn't work well in an environment where people could only stare. I'm a journalist, but I try to think of it a a part-time job. My real work is here." He gestured around him to the bar around them and the wonderful company he found in front of himself.

Chuckling, Charlie nodded. “Well, lucky for you, physical conversation happens to be something I’m an expert at.” The smirk that dawned his face was as crude as he could possibly make it.

“Well, if you can promise me that I’ll have your company if I visit this establishment more, than I might just become a regular here. I mean, how can a man say no to such a fine looking gentleman such as yourself?” Charlie reveled in feeling Stefan look him up and down. He stretched out, leaning back in his chair and extending his legs, allowing the older man a better view.

As much as Charlie liked to think he was above obvious and crass implications, he really wasn’t. So he took his chance, leaning close to the man, and whispering to him “Don’t worry, we’ll be going deeper tonight.” When he settled back, he took his new mug of beer that the waitress had left on their table in his hand. “Ah, the written word. I bet you’ve won over many hearts and seduced more with your words.” Charlie could imagine it, Stefan looked like a writer. “What? Here at this bar? Charming the garments off of unsuspecting men?”

“Oh no. No, I’m not. Nothing of the sort. But I provide a kind of… entertainment.” He took a long sip from his drink, dragging it out. “I’m a phone sex operator.”

"An expert," Stefan, said returning the man's crude grin. "We should compare theories and practices. For the good of mankind, of course." He tried keeping a straight face, but couldn't help but chuckle a little.

Stefan was really starting to enjoy himself. Although he always had a good time flirting with other, it was rare to find someone who actually enjoyed what he had to say and returned with some of their own compliments. For a moment he second guessed himself. But then there was no miss-reading Charlie as he leaned in closer to whisper in Stefan's ear.

Taking his own drink from the waitress, Stefan grinned at the way Charlie was displaying himself. After all, why shouldn't he? The man was obviously attractive. Why shouldn't he me set up on a pedestal for all to see?

"The written word is indeed a powerful instrument in the right hands," he said. "But there always comes a time when words fail. Like when I brag about you later." Which was only half true. There were few people who knew the escapades of his nightly adventures. And even those were never given details such as names and it was more in jest than anything.

Except for his cat Sebastien. The stories that ball of fluff could tell...

"The benefits are amazing," Stefan continued. "And it keeps me in shape. Good exercise and all. You work out a lot?" He wiggled his eyebrow at last question.

He was in mid-sip as Charlie explained about his job, and his almost lost the liquid in his mouth.

"Surely, I must be dreaming. Still, those poor souls who never get to enjoy all of this," he said, gesturing to Charlie's body. "Don't suppose you'd give me your number?"
