Date Night! ... Yikes... (Michael)

Deshi had been so excited last night about getting a date with Michael that he’d had difficulty getting to sleep. It was a little problematic considering that meant he’d slept later than he intended too, since he wanted to go out and stroll around town today because he didn’t go to classes anyway. But he realized he’d woken with just enough time to get to his second class… If he really wanted to… Well, Michael had encouraged him to get to classes more with the promise to be his study buddy.

So by that evening as he was getting dressed, after attending three of his classes in one day, he was a bit… tired. But proud of himself. And needing help with a homework assignment was the perfect way to ask his new ‘study buddy’ for some help. Assuming tonight went well. But now he was wondering if perhaps he was putting too much on this. As well as why in the hell he was so nervous. It was just dinner and a movie. It was not a big deal.

Taking a deep breath, Deshi made his way to Michael’s door, giving three quick taps. It wouldn’t be bad. It would be fine. Better than fine. They’d made it through a movie once already. And they’d even kissed. And they’d laughed and gotten to know things about each other. It would be a good evening. Quickly, Deshi made sure to straighten his shirt. He thought it was fitting, all things considered.

Michael was impressed with the progress Deshi has made in such a short amount of time concerning his class attendance. Maybe a promise to be his study buddy was a good idea after all. Michael felt good about himself. He felt as if he was positively contributing to Deshi's education. Now that the boy was going to class (most of them anyway), Michael figured that his grades should get better now that he is at least listening to his teacher's lectures.

However, school was not the pressing issue on Michael's mind. He was much more concerned with his date.

To prepare for his date, Michael did his best to keep himself calm and decided that he would simply act like his normal self. Because they lived so close to each other, Michael figured that if he acted too different on the date, Deshi would eventually take notice. Besides, if their relationship was going to evolve from simple dating to something more involved, Deshi would need to know his true self anyway.

Hearing a knock at the door, Michael opened it up with a smile on his face. "Hey," he greeted sweetly. He was casually dressed with a pair of jeans, a random t-shirt from his closet, and a green jacket. Dinner and a movie dates didn't require fanciness, right? Luckily for Michael, Deshi dressed pretty casually as well. "Nice shirt, Spider-Man."

Smiling, Deshi put his hand over his date’s (oh dear lord, this was a date) mouth. “Hey now, gotta keep that on the DL. I mean, I know we go to Xavier’s School and whatnot. But gotta keep the secret identity just that, a secret.” With a wink, Desh let his hand drop to his side.

Deshi stepped aside, waving his hand forward to let Michael step by him. “Do you have a preference as to which we do first? Movie, then dinner? Dinner, then movie? I really wish there was a drive in around here. That’d be great for a first date, ya’ know? It’s an odd combination of private, yet public. And if you have one of those old cars that has just like a full front seat, it’d be great for getting up close to your date and seeing where it went. Arm around the other, turn touching, turn making out.” Clearing his throat, Desh remember that he and Michael were dating. Go going on a date. Trying to change what it was that they were used to doing.

“Sorry. Um… Where was I- Oh yeah, which to do first.” He chuckled at himself as he walked to the door that led out of the shared area of their dorm. “I was thinking dinner first. There are a few places in town I haven’t tried yet.” Not to mention snacks during the movie would spoil their appetite. Deshi was nothing if not concerned with his food, though his appearance didn’t really show such a… fascination.

The other question, as to which movie they should see, could wait until after dinner. It was a bit conflicting too. If Desh were going out with a girl right now, he'd just ask for something scary that way he could do the whole typical 'arm-around-the-shoulder-protector' thing. But Michael liked movies a lot and watched them a lot. Deshi doubted the same would work on him.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, I forgot," Michael said with a bit of a giggle after Deshi's hang was removed from his mouth.

And so the date officially started as Michael stepped out of his room and closed his door behind him. He smirked when Deshi mentioned making out. "We can do that in a regular theater too if we pick a movie that's been out for a while. Not as many people go to the movies that have already been out for a while," he explained, "oh, and we'd have to sit in the back row for... obvious reasons." Michael hoped he didn't take things to an unhealthy level.

"But uh... dinner first is fine I guess." He thought about being so full of food that it would make the movie uncomfortable, but that has never actually happened to him before. Besides, he was feeling pretty hungry at the moment and couldn't wait to grab a bite to eat.

"So... what places did you have in mind?" Michael asked curiously. He was willing to eat just about anything from any type of restaurant, but he was more interested to see what kind of food Deshi liked. "Oh, I almost forgot, I had an epiphany today!" he began saying excitedly. "I think you'd make a good anthropologist! You'd get to study ancient cultures and stuff! Oh, maybe you can major in international studies and do something with that!" Truth be told, Michael felt that if Deshi applied himself, he could do quite well in college... and deep down inside, he hoped he and Deshi hit it off well and then decided to go to the same university.

Deshi smiled, happy that Michael played along with his little game. “It’s ok. It was a minor slip. Nobody was around to hear. But you only get one reminder.” Desh hoped that smirk he gave was the perfect mix of predatory and flirtatious that he was going for. But he’d had so little practice with it, he wasn’t confidant that it was. Oh well. He was sure Michael would get the gist of what he was trying to say with the smile.

“That’s true, a movie that’s been out for a while. I just thought since you like movies so much you might’ve seen most of them. But if you haven’t, then that’s perfect.” He smiled, somewhat shyly, happy that they were on the same page. Yeah, they wanted to go slower than either of them had in the past. But that didn’t mean they still couldn’t have their fun now, right? There had to be a middle ground for them to find between too fast and too slow. They’d figure it out, Desh was positive. “For very obvious reasons.” Deshi chuckled, leading Michael towards the door.

“Oh, no, well if you want to do movie first, I’m game.” Desh smiled when they made it out into the hall, though it felt slightly stiff. This part was a bit uncomfortable, figuring out the exact game plan for the date they were already on technically. He wasn’t quite sure how it actually went. “Really, I’m fine either way. So long as I don’t royally mess this up or make it weird, I’m good just hanging out with you.”

Listening carefully to Michael, Desh actually thought his idea was… kind of perfect. An anthropologist, getting paid to learn more about cultures that had either died or were on their way out or really small? Essentially being paid for something he already liked to do? “That’s actually a really great idea.” The only part of it that was off putting was how much effort he’d have to put forth. “I’d never thought of that. But it could be fun. Of course, that means I’d have to start going to every class. And go to college.” Disdain was obvious in his voice. “But, for something fun like that… I think… Maybe. It’s at least worth looking into further. Never hurt.” Deshi smiled at Michael in appreciation. Walking side by side, Desh let his fingers graze against Michael’s gently, almost seeming accidental, though fully intended.
