So Uh, About That Date (Sophie)

How could a phone call manage to make someone nervous? No one could see him (in his batman boxers - not briefs). No one could see the weird facial expressions he made or how he blushed profusely. Still, he could manage to say something stupid and then facepalm and then drop the phone and well the rest was a disaster waiting to happen. So he was more or less freaking himself out about a phone call to Sophie, the girl that he fully intended on taking out again. The problem was, he couldn't just dial the damn number! After that kiss, he hadn't stopped thinking about her and now he was putting off talking to her a little longer than he wanted.

Had it really only been two days? It felt like an eternity. Yes, he was being melodramatic, but seriously! This girl was filling his mind already and he couldn't even figure out why. Okay, well besides the fact that she was like a dream girl. Yeah, that was reason enough. He shook himself mentally and grabbed his cellphone for the umpteenth time. He poked at it until the screen came up and he pressed keypad. Carefully he dialed her number and eyed the green button that would carry on with the call. He closed his eyes and jabbed it, causing him to drop the phone as it rang.

And rang.

And rang once more.

Ashton scrambled to get it, but it somehow ended it up under his bed and he couldn't quite see where. Just his luck. All the while as it rang, he let out a string of curses and mutterings.

Sophie was lying on top of her bed just watching the ceiling. This was driving her insane. Two days had passed and nothing. Just nothing. Sophie was starting to wonder whether he had completely forgotten about her, or if he had chickened out. The latter seemed the most possible though. And that kiss...Ughhhhh. She covered her face with her hands and let out a groan. She let her hands drop back to the surface of the bed and sighed. And she had promised herself she'd never become this girl. And yet, here she was; Being that girl.

She reached for her phone for the millionth time and sighed. Well, she had already been stuck in her room for two days waiting, she might as well do something with her time. She scrolled through her list of contacts, but after meeting Ash, she could honestly say that they were all so boring compared to her awkward little geek. ''Oh, for crying out lou-''

And then her phone rang.

And rang.

She blinked and just sat there looking at it before slowly lifting to her ear. Finally. ''Y'ello?'', she replied. Okay, Soph. Act cool. Act cool. It's just a phone call. Don't freak out...Don't frea- Lots of cursing and muttering. ''...You dropped your phone, didn't you?'' She rolled her eyes and sighed. How typical, but still cute. Very cute.

Ash really was a dumbass sometimes. He flipped on a light and peeked under his bed, meanwhile his hand searched as well. He finally came across something that had light coming from it and felt rectangular. That’s when he came up with his phone in hand and fist-pumped. He had just put the phone up to his ear when he heard her question and he snorted, “What? Nooo. Why would you say that?” Maybe it was the muttering of incoherence that would lead her to believe that.

He was such a dunce.

Clearing his throat, he bit his lip and tried to think of what to say. Now that he heard her voice, well, he was nervous…again. “So, uh how’ve you been?” In the past two days that he hadn’t talked to her because Flynn said it was some stupid three day rule. But that was just it, he couldn’t wait three days! How was he supposed to do that when she constantly popped into his mind! It wasn’t fair. Ashton pinched the bridge of his nose and cursed himself to hell mentally. He really, really hated his awkwardness.

''Uuuh, huh.'', she said and grinned. Man, he was such a dork, but oh so cute. She played with her hair as she rested her head on top of her arm. She was glad he finally decided to call, she was almost at the brink of calling him herself, and that would've just been pathetic.

''Oh you know. Still the same. Still wearing laced-underwear and all.'' She let a chuckle escape her lips and rolled onto her back. ''You?'' Hearing his voice made her happy. She'd probably end up going crazy and do something stupid if he hadn't called. But she wasn't going to tell him that. ''So... What are you up to?'', she asked and looked at her nails. Her parents were out on some fancy dinner party. Again. The house had felt so empty ever since her brothers had decided to bail, and seeing as her parents were rarely ever home, it was usually just her all alone. If you looked apart from Gunther. Their butler. Or whatever the heck he really was.

She rand her hand through her hair and bit her lip. ''I had a really good time the other night.'' The faster she got it out there, the better. She hated beating around the bush, though it seemed to happen a lot around Ash. She wasn't sure if it was a bad or a good sign.

Ashton knew she’d see right through him. There was no getting by her because, well he was sucky at trying to play things off for one. And she wasn’t stupid by any means. Thankfully because he really didn’t like the blondes that gave other blondes a bad name. He was not one of them, that was for sure.

Now if Ash was a player and smooth, he’d ask what color, but he wasn’t. He was shy and awkward and blushing like a moron. She wasn’t even there and she had the same effect on him. It was unfair. “Same, same…well not the lacy underwear part, but I am wearing batman boxers if that counts.” Yeah this was going to be their thing, talking about what underwear they were wearing because she knew it made him feel incredibly awkward. Seemed legit. He slid down into his bed and laid his head on the pillow as he listened to her. “Just lying here, got to thinking about you and figured I’d give you a call. You know we had a deal about a second date,” He said with a faint smile.

He folded an arm behind his head and looked up at his ceiling. It was really nice hearing her voice. He just couldn’t help but wonder what she was doing at the same moment. “I’m glad, I did, too. Even though I got thoroughly embarrassed all thanks to my loud mouth,” He laughed.

Sophie was one of those girls who hates that stereotype where people claimed blonde's were oh so dumb. She got just as offended everytime someone looked at her and thought she was dumb just because she was a blonde. Ugh.

She let a giggle escape from her lips. ''Oh, baby~'' Sophie was glad Ash wasn't one of those typical playboys. With his looks he could surely have been one, there was no doubt about it. But she probably wouldn't have liked him as much as she did if it wasn't for his awkward and geeky personality. ''I was wondering when that would happen.'', she said and smiled. ''I was starting to think you had forgotten about me by now. Tsk, tsk.''

Sophie looked out her window. It was already getting dark outside. ''But that was the best part!'', she said as she laughed. God, that had totally made her day, right there. And the expression the other customers had on their faces.... ''Hey, be glad I didn't go through with that bet.'' Truth be told, so was she. She didn't want to put him through something like that. His self-esteem was low enough already.

She sat up in her bed and sighed. She really hated how empty the house felt. It was a wonder she hadn't moved out yet. But it was pretty much like living alone anyways.

Ash smirked at her response and had to admit he was pleased with it. He had forgotten how cute her laugh was, too. Yup, he was never waiting two days to talk to her ever again, of that he was positive. He’d be lucky if he lasted on day let alone two. “Me forget about you? Oh please. Nope, I’m just stupid and couldn’t bring myself to dial your number because I’m obviously not that good at talking in general let along to a gorgeous girl.” And there it was, his adorkable charm that he didn’t even know he had.

He let his eyes drift closed as he talked to her and laughed along with her. “No, that was definitely not the best part! Those old people next to me even looked at me,” Gosh they were like his grandparents’ age. He just hoped they never walked into the bakery because they would probably (with his luck) remember him and just think of those Avengers boxer briefs. “You’re right because that would have been so embarrassing, definitely more so than describing your underwear for the world to hear,” He could handle admitting defeat to a girl in front of a crowd, but the underwear thing was just plain ol’ awkward.

He let out a yawn silently and glanced at the clock. The bakery had been closed for about an hour or two by now. He looked around his old empty apartment space and sighed. At least it wasn’t anything big or looming. Still, he sort of missed having company. All he had was Max, who didn’t even sleep with him in the bed anymore, having found a more comfortable spot, cozied up to the heater and air vents. Yeah, thanks for the company Max.

Yeah, the wait hadn't been much easier on her either. She let out another laugh and smiled. ''Good. And yes, yes you are. Though, it's what make you so adorable. Sorry, adorkable.'' She loved teasing him. Too bad he wasn't here so she could see his embarrassed face. Which was beyond cute and it made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

''Yes, it was! It was so hilarious, and the way the looked at you as if you just escaped from a mental hospital!'' And then she bursted out laughing again. It had been quite the hilarious experience, and that he got so flustered about it just made it even better. ''You'd look so cute on all for, begging like a peasant, I can just picture it. Besides, there weren't all that many people inside the shop, so there's always that.'' Though, if he had done the first in his underwear, it could quickly become a lot more fun. At least for her.

Sophie took a deep breath. ''You know, I'm really glad I walked into the bakery.'', she admitted and felt her cheeks grow hotter. What if she hadn't? She would have missed out on so much, and most of all missed out on him. It was funny, how something so little could end up meaning so much. Kind of ironic.

Ashton laughed, right, adorable. That was kind of funny. “You’re just being nice now. I will agree to the dorky part though because, well, it’s like my trademark.” He was a total geek that back in high school had tried hiding that side of him. After all, the fewer people that knew about his action figure collection the better. Flynn already gave him a hard enough time about it.

“Oh nice, now you’re telling me that people probably think I reside in a psych ward? That’s just peachy,” He said with a smile. He could be embarrassed, but he wasn’t upset about his mistake because it caused her to laugh like that. As long as she found the things he did funny, he wouldn’t mind being a dork so often. “That’s true, but then again, there were enough that probably make a regular appearance in my mom’s bakery to recognize me. Do you know how awkward it’ll be for both of us? I mean them picturing me in my underwear and me knowing that they are doing just that.” Yup, whole bag of awkward.

Her admittance only made him smile wider and he reveled in it a bit before answering. “You’re glad? Pfft, you saved me from sitting there in boredom for the rest of the day. I mean I can only decorate so many superhero cupcakes. And with my luck, everyone would think I’m a lot more feminine than I really am if you know what I mean,” He said with a scrunched up nose.

''Captain Adorable.'', she said and nodded. ''It has a nice ring to it, don't you think?'', she smiled and ran her fingertip over the sheets. If more people had been like that in high school, Sophie would never have ended up being the flirt she was. She'd fall head down in love with someone as geeky as him and probably be married by now. ''This world needs more Captain Adorable's.'', she said with a chuckle.

Sophie bit her lip, trying not to laugh. ''Hey, they say the craziest ones always are the most fun!'' Well, not that she thought he was crazy or anything. But he was a little loony at times, just like her. Though, she wasn't as embarrassed about it as he was. ''Hold on, let me picture it. Mmmmm. Nope. Nothing awkward there.'' At least not for her. For all she cared he could walk around in his underwear all day and she wouldn't complain.

She let out a laugh and walked over to the window. ''I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.'' She opened the window and sat down on the sill. The street was dark and it didn't seem like there was a lot of people home. They were probably all at the fancy dinner her parents were at. ''Ash...'', she began but got interrupted by Gunther walking in. ''Miss?'', the old man asked but stopped in the doorway. ''Uh, hold on.'', she said quickly and lowered the phone.

A few minutes and some distant mumbling later. ''Sorry about that.'' She dangled her feet outside the window and smiled.

“Oh please, you’re killing me here,” Captain Adorable really? That was hardly fair. She was really trying to make him spontaneously combust wasn’t she? He was oblivious to the fact that girls actually liked his innocence because he got a lot of crap for it from the guys. Then again, they were guys and most of them were really, really stupid. Still, he kind of wished he wasn’t the way he was sometimes because his obliviousness caused him to miss out on a lot. “If yooou say so,” He said with a smile.

He really hoped she didn’t think he was too crazy. Sometimes he was a little out there because he said some strange things, but it was mostly whatever popped into his mind at the time. Ashton blushed more when she decided she was going to picture him in his underwear. He was definitely going to catch fire one of these days from his face burning so much. “Of course it’s not awkward for you, you are not some old man that came to buy his wife a cupcake,” He laughed. Random scenario that could very likely happen.

Ash laughed again, “Oh right, sure you don’t.” He waited to see what she was going to say after his name, but then she got pulled away from the phone and he sat there patiently. When she came back he smiled and shrugged, as if she could see him, “It’s no biggie, you were saying?” Because she couldn’t just say his name and stop there. Who knew what she was thinking!

''Oh yes. Captain Adorable and Sophmobile on great adventures!'' Though, the image of that just made her dream herself away again. They could both get awesome costumes and he'd look even more adorable than what he already was. She felt her cheeks burning at the thought of it and shook it off. ''I'm serious!'' But then again, she could only handle one of him. Being all cute and adorable...

He was just about the right amount of crazy for her to find both super attractive and incredible cute at the same time, so he had nothing to worry about when it came to that. ''Nope. I'm just this sweet, innocent girl who imagines you in your underwear and likes it.'', she said and chukled. Innocent? As if. Sweet? Maybe. But she'd still love to actually get the chance to see this famous underwear of his. One way or another.

''Huh? Oh right.'', she said as she tried remembering what she had been trying to say. She tapped her lip again with her fingertip and watched an old couple on the street as they walked their dog. She had always found the image of elderly couples holding hands so sweet. She wanted that. The house with the white picked fence and sitting out on the porch in a rocking chair with her husband right next to her. All the while watching their grandchildren run around in the yard. She sighed. She wasn't sure what she had been trying to say. Well, maybe she did but she had chickened out by now. ''Where do you see yourself in ten years?'', she asked and facepalmed herself. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Well, hopefully he didn't notice her change of subject.

“Sophmobile huh? Sounds fitting. We could form our own Avengers if we only had more people to add to it,” Gosh they were a weird pair. Definitely adorkable to the extreme. He shook his head and laughed, “Okay, okay, whatever you say, Sophie.” He just smirked and sighed softly. She really was cute. He could only imagine that blush he had seen from her before leaving that night. It had been rare, but so worth it in the end.

Sweet, innocent girl, okay maybe he bought half of that, but something told him she wasn’t all that innocent. “One of these days you’re going to make me combust,” He said with a laugh. But hey, if she wanted to picture it and enjoy it, he wasn’t going to deny her that image. After all, he’d imagined her in her very well described undergarments and had not minded it in the slightest. It did make him catch fire again when he realized that she wanted to see him in his Avengers underwear.

Ash waited for her to continue and he had to admit, he wasn’t expecting what she came up with. He cleared his throat and chewed on the inside of his cheek. She didn’t know he was a meta, so he couldn’t very well tell her his future job, but he could say everything else right? “Oh you know, where everyone sees themselves at that age. Family, wife, stable job and a nice house. And a dog.” He wasn’t sure if Max would last that long necessarily, but he hoped that his kids would get to meet the pup at least for a little while. He was a year old already, "How bout you?"

''Yes, we totally should. And psh, we don't need no more people. Hell, we'd be so awesome that alone would be enough to OD'ing the entire world.'' Not that she wanted to share him with the world or anything, but still. ''And yes. Sophmobile is fitting, thank you very much.'' She let a chuckle roll from her lips and smiled.

Yeah, Sophie was far from being your typical innocent girl. But at least she wasn't the worst. ''I'd totally pay money so see that.'', she said with a smirk. She had totally enjoyed his reaction to when she described her underwear. Besides, it had left her with a pretty sweet victory too.

She nodded at what he said and let her fingers rund down her bare legs. ''About the same. With a secret identity as a superhero hidden in between there somewhere, of course.'' Though that kind of future was a longshot with the family she had. Her brothers had already managed to sneak away from taking a part of the 'family business' and her parents wasn't going to let that happen with their lovely daughter too. They had even picked out a college for her, and at this rate they were probably going to end up picking the guy she married as well. She didn't really want to follow in their footsteps, but the only way she could see herself getting out of it was running away just like her brothers, but where would she go? She couldn't just pack up her stuff and leave everything and everyone behind. She wasn't even allowed to get a job. Not that she needed one, but still.

When it came to pets, Sophie had had her fair share of different breeds and exotic animals. She even had her own horse at one point. Now though, she just had her beloved ferret, Stark. He came skipping into her room and jumped straight up to the window sill and curled up in her lap.

“You just don’t want to share me,” He said with a laugh. That may or may not have been true, but he was going to pretend like it was because the thought was appealing. “Did you come up with it all on your own?” He asked with a smirk.

Ashton laughed, “Well the whole superhero thing was a given I thought.” He had to admit, he wasn’t all that cool of a superhero. The most he could do was keep other people from using their abilities and he found that although helpful, kind of boring. He would have loved an offensive ability, but that just couldn’t happen. He didn’t mind too much though, he could always make someone sick by making them eat a bunch of baked goods? That seemed totally terrifying right? Yeah, he didn’t think so either. “What kinda job are you planning on having?” Yeah he was bringing this on himself, but he figured she had a right to know about him and his ability. Who knows, maybe she wouldn’t mind?

God he hoped so.
