Ditching Without a Hitch [Kamillia]

It was still lunch period, but Kelly already ate, and he wasn't a big fan of the people he sat with today. A bunch of athletic guys arm wrestling to see who was the strongest. Sure, a couple were friends with him, but hey were too loud, and overly obnoxious for Kelly's taste. So after he ate he began to wander the halls. He passed by class rooms that still had a few students lingering in them. He went through one wing of the school after another aimlessly. He stopped before going down the science hall.

Physics.

He had the class right after lunch, and no he didn't want to take it. Nor did he want to see the teacher. Kelly sighed, looks like this was a job for skipping class. He turned on his heels, and went down another wing instead. If the teacher saw him, he'd know Kelly was indeed in school and skipping. Getting caught was the last he wanted.

So he kept wandering around, just sure to dodge the science hall. The bell rang soon after indicating that the students should get their butts to class. Kelly went with the flow from on hall to another like he had a destination. He really didn't, at least until he stopped by the student lounge. He entered to get away from the traffic and away from teachers that could bust him. The lounge was quiet and empty. Not surprising seeing the time. Flopping down on the couch, he leaned back to check to the clock. Kelly had the whole class period to waste time. Now all he had to do was figure out how to spend it.

Kamillia skated through the halls of the school building. Yeah, she was doing something she was suppose to, it amazed her how much people hated her riding her skateboard through Hammel. She did not get, like why did they care? It wasn’t like she was bumping into people, well not on accident anyways… But hey, it was only people she didn’t like… Because that made all the difference, didn’t it? It was weird though, Kam liked the fact that it annoyed so many people, not to be mean, okay to be mean a little, but rule breaking, you had to love the simpleness of it. Not to mention, she just didn’t care all that much about how people felt about her skateboarding.

In other news, Kam had spent the lunch break in the courtyard, under a tree, talking to a squirrel. Yes, a squirrel, because she much rather talk to the animal than her peers; it was a fact. Not that she didn’t have any friends to sit with, but they were too obnoxious to sit with during lunch. So she ate her lunch with a squirrel, and made a new buddy. Nothing wrong with that, right?

The school bell rang and Kam let out a groan, while rolling her eyes. What was her next class? Something with math? Or Science? How could she forget? Her gramps was going to kill her… Anyway, she didn’t feel like sitting through a class, on either of those. So she casually got off her skateboard and made her way through the crowd, trying to not give herself attention. Kam made her way to the student lounge, the place she always went to first when skipping class. She slipped into the room, one thing stood out from the rest. It was an obvious thing of course; she looked at Kelly, he looked familiar but couldn’t place where just yet. She smirked and placed her free hand on her hip, “Shouldn’t you be in class?” Granted she knew what his answer was going to be. She put her skateboard next to the couch, out of the way, then plopped herself on the couch next to Kelly.

Kelly looked up to see the owner of a voice that was addressing him. He could've sworn he's seen the ginger around before, probably around the halls. He wasn't going to make a big fuss trying to remember exactly where. "Well hullo officer, was I exceeding the speed limit?" He asked in a jokingly innocent voice. "Actually, yes. But screw physics, as long as gravity is working I'm happy not knowing about it."

He watched as she placed her skateboard down. "Do you use that to chase down the speed demons, or are you a one, yourself?" He once again joked. Kelly was glad there was someone else ditching here. The room would be awfully dull alone. Television can only entertain for so long, and most of the shows on were children's show for the the toddlers who stay home during the day. Kelly did not want to watch those, unless the old 90's cartoons were on of course.

"So what class are skipping, oh dear rebel?" He was kind of curious. Most people skip classes they hate, and he wondered what her preference for courses were.

Maybe they had a class together? Oh well, Kam really didn’t care. She didn’t make a big deal about knowing or not knowing someone. Kam laughed at his joke, “Nice! See I always like guys with a sense of humor.” Granted, she liked guys in general, all her friends were guys, and most of them had a good sense of humor. “Gravity… We have a love hate relationship… So I say screw physics, and gravity.” She shrugged, being a skateboarder, falling happened a lot, if it wasn’t for gravity she wouldn’t have had as many broken bones, but on the other hand she probably wouldn’t be able to skateboard either.

There went his sense of humor again, and Kam couldn’t help but chuckled, “dude, I am a speed demon. I can out skateboard anyone.” She had to wonder how often this guy skipped his classes. Because Kam never bumped into him; granted she only skipped classes every so often. She rather not have teachers call her gramps telling him she was skipping too many classes. Kam didn’t like any of the modern cartoons, she will stick to the classics.

Kam smiled at him, “Some math class.. That I really shouldn’t be skipping but it’s not like I would be able to actually pay attention anyways..” Math, and science classes were the hardest for Kam to focus on, they were generally hard for anyone but nerds to focus on, but her ADD made it so much harder… “Does this make us class skipping buddies now?”

"Thanks, I try." He said with a pleased smile. Then he frown slightly and shrugged. "Suit yourself. Gravity keeps oxygen on the planet. I dunno about you, but I'd like to keep breathing, thank you very much." He had to admit, breathing was a guilty pleasure of his. "I'm sure how far he'd get in life without it." He added with a smirk.

"Is that so? Nice." Kelly usually didn't skip, so he didn't know who else did nor how often. He just didn't want to go to class today, so who was there to stop him? Granted, he wasn't planning to make a habit of it. If did become a habit it would be one more reason for teachers to scold and chase after him over. AKA, not something he wanted.

So she was ditching math, another class Kelly was tempted to skip. "Who would pay attention to that number gibberish?" He didn't get it, he didn't care for it, and he didn't see the point of learning it. Simple as that. Those kids who were good at math, and liked it had to be some of the weirdest people Kelly knew.

The artificially red haired boy shrugged. "I guess so. At least for today." He smirked. "Why? Am I not skip buddy material?" He leaned his head back, his eyes examined the dull untouched ceiling. "Sooo.... What d'you wanna do?"

Kam sighed, “Yeah, you’re right.. See there’s that love hate relationship..” She rather not die because she said screw gravity. How awful would it be if she actually ended up dying from suffocation? Or falling to her death… “Karma is going to be a bitch to me for saying screw gravity… I know it.” She shook her head.

Her gramps would kill her if he found out she skipped any of her classes. At least she thought he would, he was all about the education… So she didn’t skip classes often because of that.. She rather not have one more person to be disappointed of her, she already got that enough from her parents. “If you want to see me in action you should come by the skatepark some time. Do you skate?”


She shrugged “I guess it’s good if you want to start a business.” Or take over a family business… But she doubted her parents would her their ‘delinquent’ child ruin their precious business… Kam knew everyone had their own subject, and a lot of people liked math because it gave them a challenge. She liked biology, and a lot of her friends said she was weird because of that fact. Still, her was her favorite subject, just because she liked the complexity of it. “I didn’t say that! Well, I really wouldn’t know if you’re skipping buddy material. I only just met you. Which by the way my name is Kamillia; people usually call me Kam though.”

Kam looked at the ceiling, “Well, there’s really not much to do here at the school… I usually just go to the auditorium and play with the guitars… We could sneak into the art room and do arts and crafts… I know at this time there isn’t an art class going on…” She was trying to think of some other things, but not being able to leave school grounds while skipping was boring. The usual skippers tended to do drugs or drink, and she wasn’t really into either of those unless the drinking was in a club; which isn’t the brightest thing for Kam to do but she really didn’t care.

"There's a love hate relationship with a lot of crap in science. Especially biology and physics." Kelly sighed. He hated both classes, but he had to thank the material in them for living. Mixed feelings about something you hate sucks. "Eh, karma's always a bitch. Just knock on wood." He didn't really understand the saying, but hey, maybe it'll knock karma out of it's senses.

Kelly wasn't really much of a skater. He shrugged. "A little. Just enough to get around. I can't do tricks worth crap though." He never got into skateboarding. He had one, but it wasn't used all that much. If he was good at anything physical it would be basketball, and that was just for fun too. No way he was good enough to be on a team. Kelly took it that his new skipping buddy was quite the skater, seeing how she must've gone through the halls shamelessly on a skateboard and all. He was glad she came into the student lounge rather than one of the druggies that skip class often.

"Touché" He didn't think of that. He didn't really care about owning a business, so math still didn't seem to do much for him. The only idea he had for his future was becoming a street artist up in Montréal. Place Jaques Cartier was the best place his could think of at the moment. With art being his favourite and best subject it seemed like a good plan for Kelly.

"True, it's hard to tell what kind of material a person is after just meeting them." The Canadian smirked at the redhead. "Enchanté Kamillia. I'm Kelly." He was ready for the 'Kelly is a girl's name' speech. He always was whenever he introduced himself, so it didn't bother him anymore. "People call me Kelly though." He joked. 'Kel' was a nickname some people used, but he didn't like it. He felt nicknames were used when people're too lazy to say the full name.

Kelly wasn't too good with musical instruments, but he kept that in mind. It would be better than just sitting around. Once Kam mentioned sneaking into the art room his face lit up with an idea. "Hey, want to grab some supplies and paint the ceiling tiles in here?" It would give the lounge some life, and the ceiling tiles were white and blank; they could use some personality.

“Oh, Biology is my favorite subject..” Granted it kind of had to be if she wanted to be a vet, but she totally loved it, all it was, was remembering stuff. She didn’t like physics though, her brain could only handle so much. Kam laughed “True, but it can be damn funny.” The things that karma did to people, not to mention karma could lead to great personal growth, and life changing stuff. It wasn’t all bad.

Kam smirked “Yeah, tricks are hard. But I was always too stubborn to ever give up.” Kamillia had been skateboarding since she was about ten years old, so seven years. She also did it a lot; she always stayed out late to practice tricks. “Ridding a skateboard into town is a lot easier than walking though. So, at least you have that.” A lot of people couldn’t even just skateboard.


She nodded to what he said, she agreed whole heartily. “Especially since I lot of people put up with act when they first meet people..” She could understand wanting to be liked, but when the act was so far off from what they really were like, really those kinds of people were liars, that might be harsh to say, but it’s true. “It’s nice you meet you Kelly.” Kam didn’t care enough about names to complain about someone else’s. She laughed “That was funny.” Really nicknames weren’t just because they were too lazy to say their full name, some names were just too long to say causally, some didn’t like their full name, other names were too weird to even say. Some people just had a harder time pronouncing Kamillia, especially since the name came from Japan, and was a flower. Not to mention, Kam just had a certain ring to it that she just liked.

“Ohhh! That actually sounds awesome. Let’s do it!” She was all up for painting the bland ceiling. She gently punched Kelly in the arm, then got up. “Do you know where we’re going, because I have no clue where the art room actually is at..”
