Lets make a Bet (Chester)

Karina was practically skipping into the community field day, her dark brown locks swaying behind her and the sun illuminating her tanned face. Karina hasn't been to many fairs, and for the last three years has never been to a Pilot Ridge Field day either. Every summer, she usually flies of to the Scottish highlands to spend time with her family in her over-sized castle, so this would be the first time she could actually make it to a Field day event, or any summer event for that matter.

The telepathic decided to go red that day, wearing mainly solid colors and a straw fedora to try and keep the sun out of her face. Her thick-lens covered eyes scanned the area, looking for the target games where she could amaze all sorts of spectators with her great aiming skill. She wouldn't normally brag, but Karina was a fine archer with some of the best aim she's probably seen, save for two people-- one who was clearly better than her and the other she respected enough to say that he was good. One of them is her grandfather, who taught her how to use her prized bow and arrow. he was by far one of her closest family members, with an amazing Scottish accent and fading red beard. She looked up to the old man in more ways than one.

The other person, well, she didn't want to bring him up-- for why would she want to ruin her good mood now?

He wouldn't have gone to the fair had Callie not texted him that morning. Of course, he should have just ignored the text. It wasn't like she needed him there. But it had been a request from Callie. And since he had promised her he would start spending more time with her, he dragged himself out of his warm bed and got ready in a dark blue long sleeve t-shirt under a sleeveless hoodie with a dark grey fitting coat over it. Alex offered to drive him over but Chester told him to take the day off.

Tugging his beanie down, Chester drove quietly over to the field day location and went to track down Callie.

But what he found proved to be a lot more...'amusing' than Callie.

Well look what the cat dragged in. He sent the thought over to Karina Robertson who actually looked pretty good in red.

"Speak 'o the devil." Karina mumbled, eyebrows knitting together as she began to frown as her good mood slowly but surely disappearing into the excitable atmosphere. She knew that she would have to see him at some point or another, but the young telepathic would've never expected it to be here-- at a community fair. She knew him well enough to say that she never expected to see him here, she honestly thought he thought that he was too "rich" for that, but she'll bet you any amount of money that Callie somehow dragged him here. You knew the girl a bit more than in passing, and you wouldn't expect anything less from your highly-flexible Greek friend.

Except, well, the said girl was nowhere to be found.

Karina held one of the little toy laser-guns in her hand, pretending to be shooting at the target (with muffled sound affects and everything) while replying to the inescapable redhead. Aye',Look who's talking, never would've thought i'd see Chester "Cad" Douglas at a community event voluntarily. How much did Callie beg you to actually get out for once?"

Chester should have known he would bump into her. Apart from the fact that they seemed more in tune to each other, Chester had a funny feeling that Karina probably stalked him unconsciously. Or maybe he liked to think that instead of the harsher reality. Not that he particularly cared about being despised by this girl. She was actually pretty amusing to be around. Her being attractive certainly helped.

The mention of his nickname made Chester grin as he turned around to find a booth he could pretend to be interested while holding on to the thought conversation.

Callie doesn't beg, don't reduce the girl to a whimpering quim. She's a ton better than half the girls here. He defended his friend with somewhat of a proud grin. Additionally, he purposely added as an afterthought, Even in my head your accent sounds sexy as all hell. He smirked and turned to see if she would react to it. Knowing her, and he knew her well enough, she would probably try and hide her disgust.

Karina looked like she was in her own little world right now, shooting targets under a set time with this little laser-gun thing. It was made out some sort of plastic, brightly colored wnd would probably give most a headache, but it was light in weight so that sort of ompesated for it's bright colors. Karina had pulled her hair back before actually paying the guy and participating in the game, rolling up her invisible sleeves comically before getting into "the zone". She personally would've wanted to use arrows, maybe darts, but this'll do. Besides, it helps her look like she isn't shuddering in disgust.

"That's true, guess that was a bit low on my part."

Karina may be stubborn, she maybe hardhead, but she knows when she's gone too low and isn't afraid to admit it, but it's in a way sort of true though. She doesn't see him at a lot of community events, and 8 out of ten times it seemed that Callie was usually one of the reasons why he went, or so she thought. How the girl dose it, well, hell if she knew. Then again, he could quite literally be following her around, which would explain a lot.

"Please, you're complimenting an accent that's barely even there." She replied, calmly finishing out the course of targets with a pretty top-notch score. She made it close every time, with a few good bulls-eyes here and there, which is to be expected because Karina wasn't all that great with guns anyways-- not usually.
The telepathic lady was right though, she never did inherit her dad's amazing accent, and while it would come every so often or when she was upset, she really didn't have it. Although, it did come out more when she spoke Gaelic, just like there's a hint of a Spanish accent when she speaks Spanish-- which is almost never. Spanish is hard-- a lot harder than it looks.

Chester smirked down at the object he was holding, although quite aware that he was at a pottery stall. Now you know. He responded before turning to walk downways to get closer to the girl.

Catching her train of thought about Callie being the only reason he would come to such events, Chester licked his lower lip before responding. You really shouldn't flatter yourself. I avoid places like these because I know you will be here. But unfortunately, a brother's duty never ceases. He mentally sighed before raising an eyebrow at a little boy staring up at him quizically.

Walking away, Chester still kept trying to look out for Callie but to no avail.

Her response about his not-so-much-a-compliment made him clear his throat to hide the laugh that was bubbling up. Like he even cared about the lack of accent. He didn't have one so when he hears even a faint one, he had to point it out, didn't he?

But we all know what happens when I'm around. It gets stronger, doesn't it? Chester's smirk grew a little. I know I rile you up, Robertson. You don't have to deny that. He came close enough to brush up against her before walking over to her other side.

"You can say whatever you want Douglas, but you don't get to me, and it won't be starting today." She did stiffen slightly when her approached her side, though Karina kept her eyes on the target and continued to shoot, with only a few more good bulls-eyes until she got the chance to pick out whatever she wanted from this stand. And besides, as if she would waste her precious time with getting angry at him-- thought it was just so easy to obtain rather violent feelings when he starts, mostly because he tends to just not stop. It's more annoying than attractive, if anything.

"Funny how you say you try to avoid me--"

She took a shot. Then another, and then one more.

"Yet we always find ourselves in the same position."

She mumbled the last line before putting up the little toy laser down, the blinking lights a bit obnoxious as the feeling of accomplishment washed over her, even her lips began to smile for a second, momentarily forgetting that Chester was within a close proximity. That happiness was short lived though, for when the telepathic turned around to go claim her prize, he stood in front of her, as smug and Chester-like as ever. It was something to think about, how he says he tries to avoid her and things like this happen-- obviously he's not very good ad avoiding people. Her small smile returned to her irritated pout-frown, her eyes narrowing slightly under thick lenses.

" 'scuse me sir, but I think you're in the way of progress here."

Her thoughts and actions didn't tally up but Chester didn't say anything, letting his infuriating smirk do the job as he kept close contact with her.

When her voice came up, Chester licked his lips and grinned. "But unlike you, when I do see you, I know I have an effect on you." A rather adverse effect, he knew that, but annoying is as annoying does. And he was in a rather annoying mood.

At her words, Chester moved away from her, letting her claim her prize. But then he thought better of it and stepped back in front of her. "I don't think you really deserve that bear." Chester smirked, crossing his arms in front of him.

"I mean, I can easily win the whole carnival if I didn't have any distractions or limitations." He pressed on. "Want to make things a little more interesting? Humour me for a moment. Since I'm already here."

"Mhm, mhm. keep believing that-- not like i can stop you."
She began to walk past him, and if she had't hear him walk back in her way, she would've probably walked right into him. Actually, correction, she did walk right into him, and muttered something as she took a step back and pretended fixed herself slightly. Although, if you looked close enough, you could see the faint beginnigs of a hardeheaded, in denial blush or embarassment.
She'd never admit to that though.

"Oh please, I won that fair and square, and deserve it as much as the next guy."
And with that said she walked around him, grabbing one of the larger, whiter bears, she holding the large animal with her hand and her hip, it's own fluffy white contrasting greatly with her red. While in the meantime, the previous satisfaction of winning coming aver again in the form of the smallest smile.

Though it was maybe too easy

Yeah, this was technically more of a child's game, and maybe her experience with targets and aiming helped more than it needed to, but it's not like she cheated or anything-- how could she, really? It's not like she could use telekinesis or anything like that, no, reading minds was her thing. "Of course you could, i can't see anybody else being able to hit that bell better than you." She jabbed a thumb behind her when she mentioned the bell, and as if one cue, it rang with the sound of a victorious hit by the hammer (i honestly have no idea what those things are called.). "Well, almost anybody."

Her ears perked up at the sound of a challenge, not being able to resist the though of absolutely crushing him with her skills. Carnival and fair games were mainly target based, and she had a pretty good aim.
Then again, so did he.

"Well, I don't see why not, got nothing better to do anyways. What did you have in mind?"

"You're right." He paused, his smirk deepening. "You really can't stop me." Shaking his head lightly in amusement, Chester held a hand out when Karina bumped into him. The blush was noted but ever the gentleman, Chester didn't mention it. Instead, he grazed his hand against her arm, making it a lot more intimate than just a small bump into. He really shouldn't have but how could he not? It was too good an opportunity to pass up.

Chester let her through for her to claim her prize and shrugged. "I'm glad you can be so confident in yourself." He responded, his tone just lightly sarcastic.

Laughing soundlessly at the coincidental ring of the bell on the nearest attraction, Chester smirked. "It's almost as if you're fanning my ego, Karina. It's rather flattering."

Recognising the interested look lighting the other telepath's face, Chester knew he had found an adversary. "Your enthusiasm bowls me over, Robertson." He snorted before walking towards the skeet shooting booth. "Five in a row." He said simply, paying the vendor the fee before picking up his choice of weapon. "Rules. Miss one, one point off you. You can create any kind of distraction for your opponent but no body contact. How about it?"
