General Appearance: Because Nick is the type of guy who likes to keep things very orderly, he is very meticulous about his appearance. His clothes are always spotless and wrinkle-free. Although he is sometimes seen in sweats and a t-shirt, this is a rare occasion. And even then it’s only extremely early in the morning when he’s going for a run. Every other time he leaves the house, he has a dress shirt, usually long sleeved even in warm weather, a tie and slacks. He can be a tad OCD about his clothing. For instance, he might be halfway to work and have to turn around to change because his tie has a spot on it. For this reason, he likes to keep a clean shirt and spare tie in his briefcase or car.
Although Nick is not afraid of getting messy or covered in germs, he does like to keep clean. Unless the situation calls for messing around in the dirt, like when he was in Iraq for example, he tends to look very pristine. He’s the kind of guy that can wear white clothes without getting a spot of dirt on them the whole day. His hair is kept short, neatly brushed and his fingernails are trimmed at all times. He feels that in this way, he can make the best first impression possible.
Nick is a very athletic individual, and therefore very muscular and fit. Although he has no meta type of strength or endurance, he is defiantly above the average human. He watches what he eats and exercises vigorously daily to keep his body fit.
Personality: Nick may appear to be a man who has it all together. But that is only the appearance that he likes to keep up. Beneath his prim and proper exterior, Nick has some serious issues. Growing up with a father who never seemed to be proud of him, Nick is constantly looking to others for approval. Not that he would ever let them know. But at the end of the day, he doesn’t feel like he’s done a good enough job unless someone else noticed. He works well at keeping up his outward appearance, because of this he has developed very thick walls to keep his real thoughts and feelings hidden from others. He also tends to avoid any sort of real attachment or commitment with anyone. The only person who is a real exception to this rule is his daughter. Although he is very over-protective of her, she usually gets her way in the end.
Nick can sometimes be a very pushy person, but he is also very subtly persuasive. It really just depends on what he’s trying to get someone to do. And how much that person is annoying him. Although Nick doesn’t like anyone to know what he is thinking or feeling, anger is the one emotion that he will let surface. But only when he feels that it will help the situation. He tends to be very skilled when it comes to getting people to do things they might not necessarily want to do. And usually he makes him think it was their idea in the first place.
Because of his first experience with metas, Nick is very distrustful of them. If he had the power, he would want them all locked up on an island somewhere so that they would not hurt anyone. He even feels that young metas are dangerous because they have no control over their powers. And they become more dangerous as they grow older because this power warps and twists their minds. In his opinon metas are a disease against the human race. But he is rational about it. He realizes that because they are powerful it will be helpful to have a few of them on his side. And once they’ve helped him, he can get rid of them too.

History
Nick’s mother was never a very strong person, either physically or emotionally, so she made a great match with Michael. He adored her, and liked having a wife that needed protection. After she gave birth to Nick, her health took a drastic decline. When Nick was two years old, his mother passed away, leaving his father to raise him and his brother alone. His father raised his sons the only way he knew how, with order and strict discipline.
Although Nick and his brother Joseph would never say they had an abusive childhood, they also knew that their father was never afraid to use his belt or his hands if his thought his boys were out of line. Nick’s older brother followed their father’s rules to the letter. Joseph was always winning awards in school, trophies for sports, and generally dazzling the community. Although Nick got along fairly well with his brother, he quickly grew tired of constantly hearing “Why can’t you be more like your brother?” As a child, Nick always felt that he was never good enough in his father’s eyes, no mattered how hard he tried. As a result, Nick never felt good enough for himself.
Nick’s father, and most of the men in his family, was military men so it was assumed that Nick and Joseph would follow in those footsteps. Joseph went to a military college and straight to the army afterwards, much to the delight of his father. Nick, however married his high school sweetheart after graduation. One his own he would have never made such a decision, but Julia was one of the few people who could persuade him to do anything.
Their marriage went great for the first few years, but after awhile Julia grew tired of Nick’s attitude towards his father. Although Julia felt that Nick should be proud of his accomplishments and stop trying to measure up to the standards that his father had set. Nick on the other hand couldn’t push aside the drive to finally do something that his father approved of. Something that would make him proud of himself. So in the end, Julia left him.
Two months later, on the advice of his brother, Nick had enlisted himself in the army and was on his way to Iraq. When he had told his father of his plans, “Well it’s about time you do something with your life,” was all the man had to say. While in Iraq, Nick was driving a jeep when an explosion tore through the side of the jeep, killing the passenger and seriously injuring Nick. When Nick woke up in the medical clinic, he was told the explosion was caused by a meta. Although Nick had never had any personal dealings with the meta community and therefore never developed any thoughts for or against them, he started to resent and fear them. These feelings turned toward anger as he started to look into the destruction and casualties that metas had caused throughout their existence.
He received letter from his ex-wife while still in Iraq informing him that she was pregnant. A few months after he got back to the states, Julia gave birth to Rachel. For the first time in his life, Nick felt like he could actual be proud of himself. She was so beautiful and perfect. He and Julia agreed to share custody of her. As she grew older, she spent the summers with her father and a majority of the school year with her mother.
While recuperating from his injuries, Nick was offered a job in recruiting for the army. He found that he excelled at it. Not only was he good as convincing young men and women that the army was the place to discover themselves, but it gave him access to an inside look at the meta involvement in the government and army.
Nick took the job at Operation Patriot because he wants to spread his view on metas to other non-powered humans. Also, he figures it will be the ideal place to recruit young metas to their side of the fight.
