Name: Kara Margaret Hugg
Nicknames: N/A
Age: Thirty
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Trainer for mental powers
Powers: Animal communication and control of insects. This specific group of animals are her specialty. She has always been exceptionally close and fascinated with insects even when she was a young child. Under times of large amounts of stress she can lose her communication skills with her insects, for several hours or days. Despite having an excellent relationship with her insects, she has a much harder time socializing with other people, meta-human or not. She does however enjoy training students with their mental abilities.

The Details
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Light Caramel
Any Piercings? Ear lobes (once), upper ear (twice on left side), navel
Any Tattoos? Her whole left arm and shoulder is covered in tattoos. She has a giant centipede tattoo along her left shoulder (reference image here). She has a scorpion tattoo on her hand and up even to her wrist (click here). Just above the wrist are two quarter sized cockroach tattoos (reference pic here). The underside of her wrist is a tattoo of an ant also about the size of a half dollar coin (reference image here). Along her bicep is a dragonfly about the size of a softball (image here), and along her deltoid is a hornet (image here). All these insects represent a valuable friend to her in her life.
Any Scars? Some ache scars along her chin that she usually hides with blemish creme. A long scar along her right elbow when she attempted to self-teach herself to skateboard without padding. Needless to say, she didn't try that again.
General Appearance: Kara stands at roughly five foot five inches. She stopped growing about the age of seventeen and wasn't all that keen on being a relatively short person. She weighs a hundred and fifteen to a hundred and twenty-five pounds. This fluctuates given the season, her current eating habits and her exercise routines. She enjoys running, but there are times when she just doesn't get the opportunity to get her run in.
Kara is Caucasian, and has a light skin tone. She often has to apply sun block to avoid getting burned even when just jogging around town on a cloudy day. She has blonde hair that's about down to her shoulder-blades. It has a natural wave to it, but can easily be trained to go straight or curl. Though, her hair is also pretty thick, and she has a lot of frizz issues with it. Usually, she has to put quite a bit of product in it to work with the frizz.
Her eyes are a light caramel-brown tone, she also has a nicely proportioned nose, and small lips. She has a B-sized breast cup and has a slim and athletic figure from long hours outside. As far as her clothing style goes she prefers jeans to nice dress wear. She's not the type of person that likes to dress up, but will occasionally when the time is right.
Personality: Kara has had a hard time establishing any sort of relationship with others even from an early age. She got along with her parents fairly well, as any child would. But as for people outside that small family circle she's had a lot more difficulty trusting. This is in large part from her childhood and the fact that no one quite understood (or agreed with) her obsession with insects. She was often ridiculed and her bug friends killed before her eyes, which has obviously left a scar.
Trust, is obviously, a hard thing to gain with Kara. It may take some time, first meetings tend to never go well with her. Mostly because she just doesn't know what to say or how to act in response to other people. So it's highly unlikely anyone will gain her trust on the first go. In all actuality it may take several meetings before she can begin trusting a person.
Once trust is gained, her friends may find that Kara can be pretty adventurous and quite the avid explorer. She loves nature, and anything that involves the outdoors so its an often sight to find her outside doing something. On most nights she'd rather sleep outside amongst the stars and the insects than sleep inside on a bed. She's quite quirky, and can be often spotted talking to herself. What she's really doing is talking to the spirits of her bug friends that lay along her left arm. She believes they remain with her even after death, and will often times talk to them as if they were seated beside her.
She doesn't really understand humor. Though she does enjoy the occasional practical joke (as long as she's not the victim). She easily gets defensive when someone even mentions bugs (whether they are hers or not), whether the comment was intended to be harmful, questioning, informative, or just casual. Unless, she has some measure of respect or trust for you, she'll instantly become suspicious of you.
Kara is for the most part a good friend. She's good at keeping secrets so long as she likes you. And expects the same in return, though she's not always willing to open up to others, even if she does trust them to an extent. She does envy people that can trust others so willingly and without a thought or a care in the world. And she does desire to be closer to people than she is currently, but she doesn't know how to be closer and she's scared to be more open. Her bugs can't really tell her secrets or her flaws to everyone, where as other people could if they so desired.
She's often heartbroken when she loses a friend, whether they be an insect (and their time on Earth is up) or a human (where there's more or less some kind of conflicting issue). She will sit around and mope for days, sometimes even weeks depending on how close she was to that friend. This moping often involves her remaining indoors more during the day and eating food she might otherwise resist. Cookies are the worst.
Overall, Kara is a hard person to get to know, but once that trust is gained she can be a worthwhile friend. She loves the outdoors and is very adventurous. She often spends long hours outside and isn't really all that computer or technology friendly. She desires more human based close relationships but doesn't know how to establish them and is scared of getting hurt in the process. But overall, she's just a very quirky insect obsessed woman.

History
Kara Margaret Hugg was born in the middle of a blizzard in a small town in the upper peninsula of Michigan in the United States. She spent a short amount of time in that small Michigan town, a total of four months before her small family moved to Newport, Kentucky. Her parents were very focused on their jobs, and even at an early age she spent quite a bit of time at home alone. Her father was a high-end chef, her mother an ER doctor.
It was not that her parents were bad; abusive or neglectful, it was just that Kara preferred time alone and with her friends; her bugs. There were quite a few kids in the neighborhood that were around her age, but none that were quite as fascinated with bugs as she was. She learned early on to leave those other kids alone, as they often destroyed her friends by squashing or mutilating them in front of her. This was the first initial wedge that was put between her and other people.
Throughout her schooling life, she'd always been the loner type kid. She kept to herself, and besides reading and science she wasn't fairly good in her other courses. This was more because she didn't try and school wasn't the easiest place for her. Even by the time she reached middle school, she was known as the 'bug freak'. At which age, she was growing tired of being picked on and resorted to some harmless pranks. Her collection of fire ants was found amongst her school's ball collection which were often used during recess. A few centipedes were found in a few of her classmates lunch boxes. And there was a collection of earwigs in one particularly bully-some classmate's desk. This was not to say that this was the first time she'd pulled pranks with her friends but her pranks had gotten more disturbing and more common by the time she was twelve. This is about the time that her friends began talking back to her and she became even more obsessed with the animals. Learning insects could understand her was not a frightening thing, it was more overwhelming and exciting.
The obvious bug disturbance brought in a lot of media to her middle school. The local inspector came in to check if the place was sanitary and safe. It was the highlight of the city for quite some time, and many parents moved their children to different schools in the area. And with the lot of public attention, brought a Hammel recruiter to the scene. Her parents and teachers were pretty relieved when news of her being meta-human was released, as it was similar to learning the appropriate medication to take for a disease. Despite the prestigiousness of the school, it felt more like they were labeling her as an actual freak and sending her off to prison where she would suffer for a very long time. She learned fairly quickly, however, that the school was more accepting of her than of other people in the past.
There was a whole different atmosphere at Hammel Institute, one that was more inviting and where she actually began to learn to excel at school, and even made a few friends. Controlling and maintaining her abilities was often a priority she put ahead of other things such as school and her new meta-human/human friends. After all, it was clearly proven (by her new gifts), that her bugs would never leave her.
When Kara had graduated from Hammel she really had no idea what to do with herself. With her obsession with bugs and in her real lack of people skills it wasn't like she could really do anything other than becoming an entomologist (a person who studies insects). Instead, since she excelled in her ability from an early age, she decided to become a trainer to help other kids control their mental abilities. She's been helping with that for the past seven to eight years.
Roleplay Example
She didn't know why, but parks seemed to always be so calming. Okay.. maybe she did know why. Because once in the middle of this gigantic park she could block out all the loud, weird music or the honking of horns or whatever and just listen to nature at its finest. Of course, here the closest bit to nature she would get was the singing of the birds mixed with whatever people were around chatting. Sometimes, when she was here she could hear some other kids playing sports and the like. It was nice, mostly peaceful, and besides everything else she liked to have the soft grass beneath her feet rather than sidewalk or sand.
Today was the perfect day to be outside, it was warm and the sun beat down pretty heavily but there was enough breeze that made the sun's hotness not so worrysome. Also, the sky was cloudless and blue so there was no reason to worry about getting rained on. She often didn't mind being rained on so long as it wasn't a full-blown downpour. Those were never fun if only because then you were drenched and cold.. And the park was pretty far from her house so walking home often times wasn't fun.
Natalie's hair was partly pulled back and held in long curls that cascaded down and around her face. She was wearing a cute little pink dress that had blotches of purple, yellow and pink on this white area and the blotches sort of reminded her of the blotches made by spray paint. How she even knew this, she had no idea, since she'd never been around spray paint ever. She was told it smelled worse than paint.. so that had to be pretty bad because the smell of paint wasn't all that pleasant. She also had on a pair of pink sandals. Or well.. she did have them on earlier. She took them off just a moment ago to let her bare feet walk in the grass that felt so nice between her toes.
She sighed loudly and then took in deep breathes as she breathed in the much healthier air that came with being around so many trees. It smelled like the color green, like of leaves on a tree and of freshly mowed grass. It smelled of scents of flowers and the color green sang with the unheard words of the wind or the birds in the air. Green was a wondrous color. Her second semi-favorite color next to pink.
She walked slowly through the park continuing to take in deep breaths as she moved to a small pond. Along with her pink sandals she also had a bag full of left over bread which held basically the end pieces in it that no one ate. She found no reason to put it to waste and instead sat down by the water and started to pull off small chunks of bread and toss them into the water for the ducks and geese and stuff.
