Pastel Pool Party (starring Evony & Kimmy)

The day had been a long one, class had been typically draining and the weather wasn't exactly something to write home about. The dry heat had lasted well into the late afternoon, blazing down onto pilot ridge like a tidal wave of fire kissed sandpaper and the students had all felt its overbearing warmth on their skins. Air conditioners and ice were the metahuman's best friends during the day and no one thought it wise to do any strenuous activity, sport in this weather? They'd have to either possess temperature control, not sweat or just be a complete idiot. The pool had been the most popular location throughout the day, so much so that Evony waited till sundown for her turn.

By the time she had arrived, well...appeared from the bathroom mirror, the pool had been emptied, apparently the students couldn't swim past a particular time. But she didn't care, she now had an entire Olympic sized pool to herself! The windows glimmered with the violet tendrils of the shimmery horizon, illuminating the pool with a magical quality, it was almost too pretty to ruin with ripples.

Already barefoot (when wasn't she anyways?) and dressed in nothing but a dainty lilac one piece swimsuit she had 'borrowed' from a swimwear boutique in the affluent suburbs nearby and some assorted pieces of jewellery. Evony was ready to get wet. Her waterfall of cerulean hair was lazily tied up into a ponytail and her nails, only just repainted, glistened with a rich red. Evony felt completely at peace all by her lonesome, tossing her penguin towel on a nearby beach chair.

Dipping a pedicured toe into the water the Blue bird let out a soft laugh, feeling the bumps sprint across her porcelain skin. The temperature was just right.

With one final breath and a giddy cry the petite thief dived straight into the deep end, making a small fountain of a splash before swirling around underwater like a mermaid. Everntually Evony broke the surface, lazily treading the water as she stared out the large glass windows, the sun was saying its final goodbye before night.

"So pretty..." She murmured aloud, wiggling her toes as the cool waters splashed against her skin. Tonight was going to be fun!

Kimmy wasn't the type to flagrantly break rules... unless it didn't actually harm anyone.

She had gotten her room assignment, and had three roommates with the potential of getting one more. Needless to say, her room didn't afford much privacy, and privacy was what she needed at that moment. It wasn't that she didn't like spending time with others - on the contrary, she craved companionship and personal connection like nothing else in her life - but sometimes with her power it was too much. Sure, she could have gone on a walk in the woods or something similar, but she had already gotten dressed in the first swimsuit she had tried to make herself and she wasn't about to change back out of it, especially on a night as hot as this.

Hence, when ze travelled to the pool to discover that it was closing, ze deftly tucked zirself into the smallest corner ze could and waited for the staff to clear out, draping the multicolored towel over zir head to hide zir giveaway bright pink hair. Ze wasn't used to this - knowingly violating the rules in order to get something ze wanted - and it was quite exhilarating. Ze could almost get used to this. Almost... maybe not. But it was still fun!

Ze just needed to wait until the pool was silent... Ze crouched beneath the bleachers, the extent of zir excitement and anxiety betraying zir history as a goody two-shoes.

Okay, the sun was going down, why was there still noise in the pool? Another delinquent such as herself, perhaps?

Kimmy peered around the bleachers she was hiding behind. The pool was empty except for one person, and when she focused on the emotional reading of the single resident she found excitement and calm. It was... familiar, somehow. Extremely familiar. That was odd, she didn't know anyone at Hammel that well yet... Her heart jumped into her throat at the thought that it could be Noa, but then she remembered that Noa didn't go to Hammel. Dammit, oh well.

Ze spotted a flash of long blue hair and cocked zir head. The figure in the water spoke, and Kimmy gasped slightly. Of course, Evony had gone to Hammel, hadn't she? The two of them had said their goodbyes extremely reluctantly with fervent promises to stay in touch. In the last year, ze had become so wrapped up in zir own issues that it had mostly slipped zir mind. Ze felt guilty about that, but was mostly overjoyed to see zir friend again.

"Young lady, what are you doing in the pool past closing time?" Kimmy gave a wry smile and approached the blue-haired beauty, not attempting to contain the joy and excitement that showed in zir facial expression and body language.

Wading through the water brought on a rather content and euphoric experience for the lone acrobat, it was strange swimming alone with nothing but the soothing sounds of lapping water and the occasional breeze that would flutter through the windows. The stresses of Hammel seemed to wash away as she frolicked in the deep, twisting and turning like a dolphin putting on a show. A show for who? Well, herself of course. The Blue haired thief silenced her worries and focused on the movements of her dainty limbs, elegantly coiling her body through the wet embrace of the water.

She was so absorbed with her underwater acrobatics that she did not notice a certain pink haired individual appear from out of nowhere.

The sudden interruption from that tragically familiar voice sent chills down the Blue bird's spine, her body momentarily stiffening up as the shock of being watched coursed through her dainty figure. She remained frozen, with her back to the mystery individual. Her heart knew the voice the instant it had broken the silence but her mind remained tentative, what if she turned around it was just a cruel illusion. What would happen to her current way of living. What would happen with...no, Evy wouldn't dare think about ruining all the hard progress she had made so far. The Australian was safe.

Releasing a deep breath the girl swivelled around, a wide grin plastered on her peachy lips as she came face to face with a very familiar girl sitting by the side of the pool. Pinky was here.

A whole slew of memories and sensations replayed in the Blue bird's mind, sending shivers through her core. How the hell did Kimmy get more beautiful. Her features were softer, more gentle and the generous smile on her lips sent a shrill beam of joy across the porcelain skinned girl's face.

"...I...I uhh, well I was hoping to have some time alone from all the smelly teenagers but I guess you've caught me." She smiled back, quickly swimming through the water to reach the person who kept her sane during those years in Kocher. It felt so surreal, seeing Kimmy here, in America...by the pool, in a bikini.

In a flash she was right in front of Kim, shimmering blue eyes drowning in the beautiful person seated above her. Yes, she was real. Reaching out slowly Evony touched her, feeling a slight spark from the meagre sensation. She was warm.

"Wait...I don't understand, how? When? I..I...this is amazing!" She cried out, waving her arms around before clasping the girl around the waist, pressing her face into Kim's midsection. It was a hug that lasted several glorious seconds. Staring upwards at the pretty face, Evony allowed a stray giggle to escape her lips. "I've missed you..." She whispered, brushing some damp hair from her face before tracing her fingers down Kim's legs, this was real...this was actually happening.

An angel had just walked right back into her life.

Memories overwhelmed Kimmy of her days at Kocher. So many of zir friends had relied on zir for emotional support and an escape from their shitty situations, and ze had tried zir damn hardest to provide that, always reading their emotions scrupulously and providing for their specific needs.

Evony, though... Evony had been different. Ze had certainly done those things for Evony on many occasions, catching her when she fell and raising her when she was low. However, she was always the first to listen to zir, providing zir with the support that ze was scared to ask from anyone else for fear of burdening them. She had helped comfort zir and protect zir when ze faced bullies at Kocher or overheard yet another slur at the end of a long day of dehumanization. She was the first person ze had called when ze was at zir lowest, pushed to self-harm over zir OCD and the suffocating emotions of everyone around zir. She had been there when ze had called her after the first meetings with zir psychologist, reduced to a sobbing mess over zir diagnosis. She had helped zir explore zir body when ze was at zir most insecure, worried that no one would find zir transgender body attractive. She had helped show zir that ze wasn't a monster, that ze was in fact sexy and desirable.

Their goodbye was the most bittersweet ze had ever experienced, a long night of laughing and crying and exploring the most intimate areas of each others' bodies for what they assumed would be the last time. Her absence had left a hollow pit in zir heart. Kimmy had been terrified that she would slip out of zir life, the ticking time bomb of distance eating away at their friendship until one day they fell out of contact entirely.

Ze needn't feel that anymore, though. She was here. Zir own shock and love and affection melded with Evy's in zir mind, her emotions indistinguishable from zirs. Evy's radiant smile sent a shock of affection and desire down Kimmy's spine. She was as beautiful as ever if not more so, shining cerulean hair cascading down her neck and shoulders and framing her face alluringly.

Evy quickly swam over to Kimmy and flung her arms around zir, pressing her face into zir stomach. "Wait...I don't understand, how? When? I..I...this is amazing!" Ze slipped into the water and returned the embrace in kind, pressing zirself against her as tightly as the laws of physics would allow without crushing the girl.

"I've missed you too," Kimmy whispered back, burying zir head in her neck and shoulder and closing zir eyes, "so much." There would be time for the two of them to catch up, but for now ze just wanted to relish this moment, revel in the fact that ze had zir closest friend back.

It took a while to absorb the sudden overload of nostalgia that coursed through the reopened chapters of her memory, every moment shared with Kim came at full force, setting her mind alight with renewed sensations. Moments of unhindered joy, unquestionable affection and tragic tears came together in a maelstrom of feelings that momentarily numbed her mind. Every kiss, embrace and secret shared between the two were now on the forefront of the Blue bird's mind. Kimmy was Evony's rock during the unbearable moments in life, when Evy had no family to turn to and nowhere to run. The pink haired beauty was the person who remained loyal and loving, nurturing the occasionally troublesome thief with genuine affection.

News of her acceptance into Hammel came as a genuine shock to the duo, one which forced a painful realisation to mark their last day together. They did not leave each other's side, choosing to drown in each other's embrace as the final hours passed away like leaves in the wind. Evy remembered those bittersweet kisses and the painfully beautiful connection the two shared on their last night together.

It all seemed like a distant memory, a rose coloured scenario into another life. But Kim was now here, pressed against Evy's body in what could only be described as a fitting embrace.

The dainty thief allowed the Irish beauty to wade into the water, ensuring she never left the embrace, greedily holding as much as she could. Evy could not resist the smile that was on her lips, could not help but breathe in Kimmy's sweet scent and feel the soft trickle of pink hair against her skin. She wound her skinny legs around Kim's, floating aimlessly in the water as she held onto the girl in silence, keeping her close by and listening to the sound of her breathing.

The girl's connected body's slowly waltzed in the cool embrace of the water, elegantly swirling around as they drank up every second of this new development. Evony could not help herself and after several minutes in comfortable silence she softly pressed her lips against the girl's neck, lightly kissing the supple skin before leaning back and staring Kim in the eyes. Propping herself up a little higher, she clasped the girl's face in the palms of her dainty hands, taking in the sublime figure that was Kim.

"How have I survived without you all this time...?" She cooed, coiling her arms around Kimmy's neck and delicately pressing their foreheads together. "You look beautiful Kim." She whispered with a smile, nudging the tip of her nose against Kim's cheek before placing a gentle kiss on the girl's cheekbone. Evony could not resist herself, she could not fathom the very real gift that had somehow appeared out of nowhere, could not believe the blessing that fiercely clutched onto her like she was zir greatest treasure.

Their eyes were locked, lost in the shared beauty of their affection for one another and although Evy tried her best to resist it, to fight back the unstoppable urge she knew exactly what was coming next. It was a struggle. Her lips tingled from the mere thought of it all.

At this proximity to Evony, with zir arms and legs wrapped tightly around her body, ze experienced all of her emotions vividly, almost as if they were zir own. Evy's love, affection, and desire intertwined with zir own, amplifying them until zir heart ached with the force of zir passion for her. Her sweet, familiar scent filled zir nose and soothed zir like a tonic. God, ze had missed this - her voice, her smooth skin gliding softly across zir own, the sensation of her breathing pressing gently against zir stomach. The two of them existed like that for a few minutes, cool water swirling gently around them in small eddies, silhouetted against the brilliant sunset suspended in a rapidly darkening sky. The moments passing in reverent silence as they drank each other in.

Evy's kisses sent tingles across zir skin. Ze planted a soft kiss on her forehead as she took zir face in her soft, delicate hands. "How have I survived without you all this time...?" she wondered aloud as ze gazed softly into the depths of her cerulean eyes.

"You always find a way, my crafty Blue Bird," Kimmy said softly, admiringly, with all the affection ze had. She really was amazing like that, and ze had always admired her intelligence and sheer resilience. "And so do you." Ze ran a hand gently through Evy's soft, satiny wet hair, brushing a strand free from her face.

Evony's soft peach lips were mesmerizing, and ze found zirself naturally drawn to them as ze always was. However, ze hesitated - ze didn't want to make assumptions about her relationship status or availability, and ze had never been completely clear on Evy's tendencies around monogamy, whether that was important to her or not. Ze sensed slight hesitancy, but also desire... which only amplified zir powerful desire for the girl. It had been so long... Kimmy tilted zir head in towards Evony, allowing her to close the distance between their lips.

Evony could feel the steady tempo of her heartbeat pound into her ears as she remained still, wrapped in an old lover's arms drowning in the touch that had not been felt for a very long time. It was a peculiar sensation, seemingly reliving a pastime that sated her desires and quelled the gnawing fire that churned in the deepest parts of her soul. Here she was, staring at Kimmy like it was only yesterday, remembering the times when they were younger and broken.

How long had it been, how many months or maybe it was a year and a bit? Evy wasn't exactly sure, keeping track of time was something she cared little about and she had been sucked into the moment. Everything was now cotton candy coloured and laced with sickly sweet nostalgia, the very essence of Kimmy dragging the Blue bird back to the burning anthem that had once intoxicated her desires.

A short shallow breath escaped her lips, her eyes glazing over the very familiar mouth that had once kept her up all night. Still glossy, still curled into a sincere simper...still the old Kim she adored.

And so Evony leant in, feeling the warm sweetness dance across her lips, coiling her dainty arms around the other girl's neck as a maelstrom of sensations merged with the lingering flames that trickled underneath her porcelain skin. She remained close, keeping her rhythm with the tempo of her heartbeat and her lips in time with the old waltz it always used to share with Kim.

But it wouldn't do, Fate was a cruel observer and as Evy stretched her arm closer she felt a snag, a stubborn obstacle which forced her to open her shimmering eyes and pause...and when she finally noticed it everything went dark. The taste in her mouth had become bitter, almost unbearable, the flames that licked against her skin sizzled with the horrid realisation that forced her to rip away from the embrace, heaving in a deep breath as her eyes tore themselves from Kim's sweet stare.

Her wrist felt like it was burning, like it had been weighed down by hot lead and she found herself instantly clutching it, her grip as white as ivory as the searing guilt began to spring forth.

Lucy's gift shimmered just above the surface of the water, taunting her and reminding the thief of the real gift she had found in Hammel. It took a lot for Evony not to panic, not to scare Kim who was simply an innocent party.

What was going to happen now? Evony dreaded the thought.

"I...I'm sorry Kim, this...I can't do this anymore." The girl whispered, her shaky words laced with guilt and paranoia. She did not dare look the pink haired beauty in the eyes. Had she failed? Had she dragged a beautiful soul into an unwanted mess? Evony scrambled the depths of her mind just to find some figment of hope but it all came back to her, singling her out like she was a witch amongst a lynch mob. She was the one who did it and it was now on her head. Guilty.

"Kim...it's hard to explain...but I, urgh fuck...I have someone now..." She trembled, keeping her wrist close to her chest as she slowly untangled her legs with the other girl's, spacing herself ever so slightly just so that she wouldn't feel even worse. How could she of brought Kim into all this? This gentle girl who never ever harmed anyone, who was a the very meaning of decency and trust.

The bitter irony felt like a dull blade piercing her chest and Evy felt horrible for it all, keeping her teeth clamped onto her tongue just as a safeguard.

Evony closed the distance between their lips, and Kimmy sank into the sweet sensation of her skin on zirs. It was so new yet so familiar, as if ze had conjured up a dim memory from another life. It didn't matter how long it had been, just that she was here now, her lips gently sucking on zirs, exploring each other and drinking each other in...

There was a tug on the back of Kimmy's head, and ze momentarily disconnected to pull zirself free from whatever had caught on zir hair. Evy withdrew her hand and...

Kimmy felt the searing guilt just a moment after Evony did, the acrid sensation of shame jolting zir out of the serene headspace ze had been in a moment earlier. The whiplash took zir by surprise and ze recoiled, the two girls untangling from each other simultaneously and leaving Kimmy abruptly alone and cold in the chilled water. Ze was so deep into Evony's headspace and emotions that ze felt her emotions as if they were zir own, zir face burning with shame and zir eyes downcast. Of course, she's probably monogamous now, I should have asked, I should have communicated more effectively... Ze dimly noted the sparkling jewelry on her wrist, casting crystals of bright light across the water.

"I...I'm sorry Kim, this...I can't do this anymore." Panic, paranoia, guilt. It didn't really matter whose emotions they were, ze felt them just as vividly either way. "Kim...it's hard to explain...but I, urgh fuck...I have someone now..." Of course, it was as ze thought. Ze had placed zir own desire over zir uncertainty over her availability. Ze knew that she wouldn't have been able to resist in the moment, ze knew she was uncertain over the kiss, but ze still didn't ask, ze went in anyways...

"No, I- I should have asked, I'm sorry." Zir words were soft, touched with shame that burned zir cheeks.

How did monogamous people handle this kind of situation? Obviously the two of them would remain strictly platonic, with none of the sexual or romantic aspects that the two of them had shared previously, but what about more ambiguous physical gestures? Would the two of them even be able to see each other now that the boundary had been crossed? Probably, as long as it never happens again... But what if we can't? What if that's part of their boundaries as a monogamous couple? What if her partner tells her not to see me again, and I'm left alone once again? Is it best to just leave her alone? Kimmy was spiraling out into panic and obsession again, and ze was in too deep to know how to stop it.

A cascade of thoughts waged war against Evy's psyche as she floated in the still water, allowing the last breaths of sunset kiss her shivering skin. The bracelet adorning her dainty wrist was a treasured possession, one which had barely left the girl's body ever since she acquired it during a rather fun outing with Lucy. It was a constant reminder of the things gained upon entering Hammel, a wondrous artefact which spoke of a blessing she feared to openly admit. Simply gazing upon it burnt her mind, struck her heart with a sharp pang of guilt.

There was no conceivable excuse, nothing that could defend her urges and justify the moment of weakness. So the girl emptied her mind, closed her eyes and settled the storm that raged in her soul. She knew Kimmy had a tendency to drown in other's emotions, whatever was experienced just then must've been a cocktail of everything that would rather be avoided. Kim mustn't go down that road again. Now was not the time for panic...that would come later, in private.

Tearing her gaze away from the bracelet Evony treaded the water aimlessly, keeping her eyes low and teeth clamped onto her lip. Worrying Kim was not what she wanted, ze was a tender soul and the last thing Evy needed was to scar their first meeting in a very long time. The Blue bird couldn't bare the thought of alienating Kim, that was never going to happen and with a deep sigh she returned her gaze to the Irish beauty.

"No...Kim. Please, don't worry about it." She whispered, offering a weak smile before tenderly removing a stand of pink hair from the girl's face. If she had to pay for her stupidity it was not going to be now. "I'm here now, things might be different but...I'm not going to abandon you." Of course she wasn't, Kim was a cherished friend and Evy's confidante and muse. She had to know that she was not going to be abandoned, Evony had to make sure of that.

Running her dainty hands through the damp waterfall of hair the porcelain skinned girl glanced up at the roof, listening to the comforting sounds of night whilst she scoured her mind for a strand of clarity.

Kim was here! That was to be celebrated, not avoided.

"Just, I'm trying...really, I am. Things have sort of changed I guess...you wouldn't even believe it." Evony mumbled, flitting her hands through the water in an attempt to keep them from going numb. "Just promise me that you won't worry about it.." Evony stated quietly, pursing her lips as she lightly threaded her petite feet through the water. It was admittedly silly asking that, Kim was a bit of a worry wart. Cocking her head to the side Evy gave the clearly anxious girl a tender smile, finally taking the time to simply absorb the changes that had happened to her old lover over their time apart.

With a quick flick of her hands the dainty thief splashed the surface of the water, trying to break whatever nervous tension had arose. She needed to escape the paranoia for now, as hard as it was.

"Well...at least you've kept your good looks!" She chirped, attempting to sway the tension onto something more positive, something that Kimmy needed to hear. "Oh...damn you Kim, your boobs are almost bigger than mine now..." Evony frowned, glancing down at her perky Bs in an attempt to humour the girl. It was true though, the transformation was going great.

"No...Kim. Please, don't worry about it. I'm here now, things might be different but...I'm not going to abandon you." Evony softly brushed a strand of hair from zir face, and Kimmy felt her emotions gradually come under control. Ze felt slightly better, though there was still a ball of anxiety and nausea sitting in her sternum. Ze finally looked up, zir brown eyes meeting Evy's deep blue ones. There was worry in them, yes, but also earnestness and affection. The familiar, beloved sight calmed Kimmy slightly. This was Evony ze was thinking about - of course she wasn't about to abandon zir. They were Blue Bird and Pinkie. Nothing could separate them, not even an entire ocean. Time had proven that.

A hopeful smile touched zir face. She knew exactly what to say to reassure zir and lift zir up from the hole of anxiety and obsession that ze dug for zirself far too easily. There was still uncertainty and worry, but the worst of it had been assuaged, and ze could deal with it now. Just let it sit there, don't engage with it, observe your anxiety from a distance. Your anxiety is not you.

"Just, I'm trying...really, I am. Things have sort of changed I guess...you wouldn't even believe it." Evy mumbled, hands dancing through the water. "Just promise me that you won't worry about it.." Evy smiled tenderly, her concern for Kimmy showing through.

"I'll try," ze said softly, smiling gratefully at the girl.

The surface of the water erupted as Evy splashed at Kimmy. Ze giggled and returned the splash, aiming low so as not to get water in her eyes.

"Well...at least you've kept your good looks!" Evy piped up, obviously trying to turn the conversation towards something more positive. "Oh...damn you Kim, your boobs are almost bigger than mine now..." she said with a frown, looking at Kimmy's increasingly-ample breasts.

"That just makes us boob sisters, right?" ze responded with a giggle. Ze wanted to ask Evy about the relationship that had apparently developed in her time in Hammel, though asking that now would be supremely unwise. Ze would ask about it later, when the confusion and anxiety about the current situation had faded. "How has Hammel been, Evy? More exciting than Kocher, I hope?" ze asked instead, leaving it up to Evy what to talk about. Ze knew that she had been frustrated at Kocher, and had hated how little excitement she had found there. Ze hoped fervently that she was having a better time at Hammel - so far it seemed like it.

Evy's lithe figure was almost completely submerged in the rippling water, the little waves lapping against the upper half of her chest as she gently treaded near Kimmy. Normally Evony would have felt uncomfortable being alone in such a large space, but having her dearest friend share this moment of relaxation (and schoolyard rebellion) was particularly pleasant. The dainty thief kept her eyes on the girl in front of her, occasionally ogling the chest that had seemingly sprouted out of nowhere during their time apart.

"Well...it's a step forward from being butt sisters." Evy lightly teased, referencing a pastime which Kimmy would definitely remember. Yes, they were rather experimental during their time together, something the blue bird did not regret at all.

Kimmy's question actually forced the Blue Bird to take a moment and think, there was a whole list of differences between Hammel and the dreaded European branch. "Well, the people here are a lot more colourful and stupidly good looking, even the people I dislike are sexy..." She frowned, thinking about a particularly snobby French boy, "but, it's great here. I'll know you'll love it! Sure, the psychologist is a bit of weirdo and the school doesn't really take to kindly to having their cafeteria food 'stolen' but what can I say? Midnight cravings." Evony grinned to herself, thinking back to her spontaneous trips to the cafeteria through her reflection world.

"It's great. Now it's greater with you here, probably gonna get my ass in trouble like back in Kocher." Evy teased, poking out her tongue and wiggling the little stud against her teeth. It was a known fact that she was always the one getting Pinky in trouble.

The smirking swindler took a moment to exhale some stress from her lungs, plunging herself into the water momentarily just so she could immerse herself and release all the pent up air bubbles. The cascade of cerulean hair hovered around her features as she gazed at the figure before her, observing how the LED lights illuminated Kimmy's feminine figure.

"I need to give you a pedicure! For old times sake!" Evy exhaled once popping up from the water, combing her skinny fingers through the wet mess of hair whilst she considered a colour for said activity. "So what about you huh? Buy yourself any souviners? How are your classes? How are your parents? See anyone pretty, I know a few..." She paused, taking in a deep breath whilst wiggling her toes through the water. "
