Powers: Queen Bee: A self made title given to her unique power set, Claudia has been granted a very close affinity with bees and as a result acts as a surrogate matriarch for the little winged insects. Due to her metahuman ability Claudia now has sharp, retractable stingers on both wrists. These natural weapons are roughly 10 inches long and made from keratin (the same protein that makes your nails, only a lot tougher), and release a minor paralytic toxin if jabbed into a living organism, the effects lasting from ten minutes to half an hour depending on how long the barbs remain in the target. Claudia usually sheds these stingers every fortnight, growing fresh ones in the space of several hours.

The second notable ability that the adopted Bishop possess is a Hive mind, whereby she shares a collective consciousness with bees (Specifically of the apidae species which are honey bees and bumblebees). As their 'Queen' Claudia is capable of controlling the insects through a very primitive form of telepathy. The little insects naturally follow her around, defending her like a proper 'army' and ensuring that their queen is safe from harm. Quelling the bees natural instincts to attack takes a lot of focus and Claudia has to remain vigilant if she has a large swarm around her, the more bees the harder it is to manage. As the central hub of the hive mind she requires constant surveillance of her little followers, keeping them busy with collecting pollen, making a hive and doing whatever else normal bees do...except for attacking the humans who get in her personal space. They are completely at the whim of her emotional responses and the bees will react if their queen is angry or distressed and as a result Claudia has to maintain a level of calm whenever she has more than ten bees around. Too many could cause chaos.

Because of their relatively short life span, individual bees tend to live for a maximum of two months. This, however, has been dealt with and the Bishop family have several bee farms in their backyard, all for the purpose of making honey and keeping Claudia's connection to them fresh. Each beehive typically has 50,000 to 60,000 bees toiling away and if Claudia attempted to focus on every single one of them she is bound to suffer from a sensation overload and suffer from severe migraines.

Pros:

• Claudia has a completely loyal swarm of insects to keep her entertained, safe and mentally sound. She feels genuine happiness when her little workers are around.
  
• Having bees means having honey. The Bishop family has an endless supply of the stuff because of Claudia's personal army.
  
• Due to her status as 'Queen' she is immune to getting stung by the insects.
  
• The stingers are a part of her natural biology, like fingernails and hair they will always be there and although they may require some care-taking they are relatively easy to manage. They can also be concealed in her bone structure, only appearing if she wills it.
  

Cons:

• Claudia has to be exceedingly careful when she has a large troupe of bees around her. Since they are so in tune with her emotional responses, one wrong move and they could go into a crazed frenzy.
  
• As a result of having her mind linked with a multitude of other (albeit smaller) entities, Claudia has trouble focusing on strenuous mental activities for more than half an hour. Studying is a particularly troublesome task.
  
• Linking her mind with an enraged swarm of bees could have adverse affects on her. If she isn't careful, their anger may influence her...resulting in a particularly volatile Claudia.
  
• The stingers are exceptionally sharp and Claudia has to be very careful when she has them out. Due to the position of the stingers, Claudia sense of touch in her hands has been completely dulled, she cannot feel different textures and has trouble discerning hot from cold due to her 'dead hands'. When procuring the stingers however, she does experience severe pins and needles in her arms, something which lasts for for several minutes.
  
• Commanding an entire swarm of bees (50,000 to 60,000) is near impossible so she can only safely control a horde of 1000-1500. Focusing her mind on all of them will cause mental strain and as a result she will suffer from severe migraines and an overwhelming desire to eat honey.

General Appearance: Claudia stands at 5'6 and weighs roughly 115 lbs (52.5 kg) and has a generally feminine yet toned build. Unlike the rest of her siblings she has a slightly darker skin tone, a pale olive colour originating from the Portuguese in her blood and as a result tans a little bit quicker than all the other Bishops. There are minor traits that she possesses which, upon close inspection, would easily differentiate her from the rest of the boisterous horde. Not only is she slightly more 'sunkissed' but she has a more pronounced figure, curved in all the right places (D cups!) with a figure that generally sways the eyes of onlookers.

Claudia's personal style has evolved over the years, from receiving hand-me-downs from her eldest sister to shaping her own style. She has an adept eye for fashion but is rather pragmatic with her approach, nothing too flashy or ridiculous, simple is best and there is no denying the wondrous elegant beauty of the colour black. She is eclectic with her style choices and relatively up-to-date with trends, favouring soft pastels, heels, coats and chic clothing.

Her locks of chocolate are often treated with utmost care, continuously shampooed and conditioned and possess an elegant volume like in the commercials. She often forgoes curling or straightening her hair and chooses to leave it in all of its natural glossy glory. But on a casual day it isn't uncommon for her to simply tie it up and get it out of the way. With regards to makeup she was only allowed to wear bits and pieces of it during her earlier years as a growing girl. Now, as the self titled 'Queen' of the group, she adores pampering herself and won't ignore her two favourite things; eyeliner and a bit of lippy. As a result of this love affair with makeup she utilises a very strict face care routine (moisturising, exfoliating...the whole shebang!) and her skin is exceptionally smooth as a result.

Personality:First impressions of Claudia will often leave the viewer with a very distinct understanding of who this highly intriguing individual is. To some she is a snarky bitch and to others she's a fiercely confidant woman of today, and although both observations may have some level of truth to them they do not resemble who the adopted Bishop truly is. She is a drama queen, smug and outspoken but smart enough to keep some level of empathy with people, she is receptive to their moods even though she may not show it. She is a social butterfly, a young woman who surrounds herself with friends of the 'highest calibre', Claudia knows she has to fight to remain 'Queen Bee' (However literally one might take it) and ensures that she retains connections where necessary. Because of this she is an opportunist, using her wits to get what she wants when she wants and will attempt to subdue anything that stunts her ambitions.

Claudia possesses a straight shooting nature which penetrates falsities and facades, being one to stand for nothing more than honesty and sincerity. Her direct nature may come off as a bit aggressive but she speaks in tough love, knowing full well that she sometimes has to be 'that' person when breaking news or hidden truths. She often makes the assumption that her opinion matters, choosing to speak up her thoughts with little regard for standard etiquette. This need to be 'right' all the time is in some ways influenced by the hive mind she shares with the bees. Since she is their monarch, they have the instinctive tendency to 'praise' and 'follow' her, this subtle yet effective and constant form of positive reinforcement has provided Claudia with a permanent list of praise, however bias it may be. Due to the chatter of her bees she has gained an exceptionally high self confidence, one which can only be broken by those closest to her.

When it comes to her wide array of siblings Claudia has cemented her role as the straight talking and sometimes scary older sister, one who is fiercely loyal to her family even if she may be the most fiery. Claudia spoils the girls and teases the boys, cherishing their company and adoring the times they share. Having been adopted into the Bishop clan Claudia does sometimes have lingering doubts, ones which alienate her from the rest of the pack. As a result she needs the occasional confirmation, no matter how small, that she is truly loved by her siblings.

History

Claudia Bishop was born on warm and windy day, August the 2nd 1993, to Jeremy and Anya Bishop. She was a beloved child, doted upon by her rugged yachtsman father and Portuguese mother, a beautiful bouncy baby who had completely enraptured both young parents. Jeremy and Anya were particularly close to Nathaniel and Monika Bishop, Claudia's aunt and uncle and often organised fishing trips out to sea with the then smaller Bishop clan. All was good in life, the income was steady and the loving couple had saved up enough money for a trip around the world with little Claudia, hoping to begin her adventures whilst she was young.

However, their dream never transpired.

May 15th, 1995. A scheduled boating trip off the east coast would be the last adventure Jermey and Anya took together, having left their baby girl with Monika at the time. The forecast had been said to clear that day, but out at sea anything can happen and by the eave of the afternoon the weather had taken a turn for the worst. Hurricane Felix had swept into the ocean and although Jeremy was a skilled boatsman he could not defend his yacht against Mother Nature. He died that day, forensics concluded that he had suffered a concussion and drowned. Anya was found in the wreckage, still alive but in a critical condition. She would never wake up during the last days of her life.

May 17th, 1995. Anya Castro Bishop is pronounced deceased by the hospital. Claudia (then 1 year and 9 months old) was taken into protective custody. A grief stricken Nathaniel and Monica file for the adoption of their orphaned neice. All of Jeremy and Anya's property was eventually handed over to their relatives, a will declaring all of their savings to be kept away for their daughter until she turned 21.

Years past and Claudia grew up knowing little to nothing about her biological parents, thinking Nathaniel and Monica her true mother and father. She was a spritely little thing, fiery and ebullient, often tagging along with her older brothers and sister on their merry adventures in the backyard. It came as little surprise that she fit so well with the rambunctious pack of children, often clinging to her older sister Aurora over the course of her childhood years. It was an environment Jeremy and Anya would have wished for their only child and Nathaniel and Monica did everything in their power to treat Claudia as one of their own, loving her like a daughter rather than a niece. Her siblings similarly expressed their affections as well, although it did take some time for some of them to handle the strange addition to their brood.

Eventually, after years bossing around her brothers and dressing up her sisters it was announced that there was to be a twelfth child on the way. The year was 1998, Savannah Bishop was born, the final member of the Bishop clan. By now Claudia had settled into the family, adoring (and occasionally tormenting) every sibling that joined the older kid's adventures. It was only until several years later, when she was twelve that Nathaniel and Monica revealed the nature of her heritage and who her real parents were. Much to their surprise Claudia took the news quite well, concluding that they were now her parents and that she cherished them above all else. This reveal surprised some of her siblings, but they adored her too much to think any differently of her, she was their sister and that was that.

Of course some drama ensued with her younger brother Gaige, a troublesome boy who influenced the younger bishops to avoid their 'fake' sister. This went on for several years, something which greatly hurt Claudia even if she did not show it. She has yet to confront him about the gossip till this day.

One thing about the Bishop clan was their strong metahuman gene, something which picked off the kids one by one as they got older. Claudia did have some worried feelings about not manifesting, she was adopted so there was always the risk of not getting a power. If she didn't end up going to Hammel she would have been sent to an elite dance school, which wasn't so bad but none of her siblings would have been there. But by the time she had turned 13 her fears were subdued and she woke up one morning with a strange itch in the back of her mind. Little voices, buzzing whispers that rung in her ears.

"Queen, you are our queen.."

The voices whispered. It was frightening to begin with but eventually she discovered a friendly horde of bees that had congregated near the house. Claudia had manifested her power, and oh what a power it was.

Hammel was the next step and she enjoyed the years spent at the school, bouncing around from class to class, making friends and ascending the silly hierarchy that ruled the playgrounds of the time. She was one of the Bishop children, of course people had to know about her! Her popularity was steady, something which pleased the girl greatly. It was only until she was sixteen had she captured the attention attention of a particular boy. His name was Rick, a boy in Aurora's grade. Handsome, wealthy, suave...and volatile. He requested she be his girlfriend, an offer the then naive Claudia could not refuse, one which she regrets till this day.

Their relationship lasted two years, it created rifts between her and her concerned siblings. Rick was emotionally abusive and lazy, a venomous douchebag who had plunged his talons deep into her heart. Claudia thought she loved him, and for two and a half years it seemed almost too good to be true. But like all flawed relationships theirs came to a messy end, one which involved several of her older siblings.

Rick had slapped her after a particularly heated confrontation between the two. Claudia was now eighteen, too stubborn and too confused to end the poisonous relationship whilst it lasted. It wasn't the first time he had hit her, but it was the first time he had done so when her siblings were in ear-reach. Devlin, her gallant eldest brother had stormed into her room and quite literally threatened Rick with a gun, demanding he never return. He never did.

A restraining order was filed and the next few months were particularly harsh for the adopted Bishop. College seemed drab, even when studying fashion. Life had taken an ugly turn but she could not worry her family any further. It took a lot of patience and love for the scars to slowly heal, and after a while Claudia returned back to her normal self, the scary yet loveable sister to the rest of her siblings.

She entered a new course, Sex therapy and counselling and set off to make a life for herself, buying a motorbike and getting a job at a local boutique. Life was now her oyster and Claudia knew she had her beloved yet crazy family backing her up, they were her source of strength and inspiration...and in time she would repay them tenfold for their love and patience with her.

Everything looks good except the power, which will need to be edited before it fits on Hammel. So here is the run down:

There are 25,000 types of bees. What type(s) does she control? Typically bees have a short life span, so where do her bees come from? Does she control them from local hives? What is the maximum size swarm she can control?

I don't see how she is "durable to similar insect poisons" if the reason she cannot get stung is because she mentally commands the bees so they will not sting her. Likewise, the presence of one type of bee stinger in her body will not prevent toxin from other insects (since insects frequently attack each other with their toxins and this is a form of defense).

Being able to kill someone with her stingers, if they have an allergy, is not a limitation or side effect. The constant ringing in her ears is also not a side effect, because she lists it as the voices of the bees; as such, it is a necessary component of the power, the same way that hearing people's thoughts is not a side effect of telepathy but is an integral part of telepathy. As such, the only side effect listed is that she can be thrown into a bee rage, which has more of a danger for people around her than for herself (since she can in turn command the bees to hurt other people). She needs real side effects for both of these powers.
