I'm having so much fun at Hammel Institute so far. I even have a few friends already! My roommates are pretty sweet, too. Levi is really funny and Zaeric is quite good at the guitar. Annette giggles a lot and Eric's voice cracks sometimes, which makes me laugh.
I've even had some time to practice my photography! Wouldn't dad be proud of me? I got a nice picture of some birds in their nest before Levi came to greet me. That's how I met him. And I got a great picture of the fish in the pond when I met Zaer. The food here is good, too. I didn't expect to like it very much, honestly. But I do. And, you know, they have a lot of clubs and sports here, too. It's like a normal school. Just... filled with people who walk through walls, talk to animals, shapeshift, and have other random but neat powers. Levi says his power tells him things about people. He thinks some tall guy in glasses here is an alien, which is pretty funny. I don't believe in aliens, but I play along anyway. Why not?
I guess my only real complaint about being here is that Caylie isn't here. I miss her. She's been my best friend since... forever, really. I keep hoping she's going to show up here with powers soon... But it just doesn't seem like it's going to happen. She's thirteen, too. So if she were going to get powers, she would already be showing them, wouldn't she? I thought that was how it worked... We all get them at like twelve or thirteen. Isn't that how it works? I didn't really pay attention when people were explaining it. I guess I'll just have to keep texting her all day. She says she misses me too and she wishes I were back in Georgia with them... I wish she were here. It's more exciting than Georgia.
I really like having a journal again. I was never able to have one at home. My therapist mother liked to sneak into my room while I was at school and find them and read them. No matter where I hid it, it wasn't safe. Then she would talk to me about whatever I wrote and try to analyze me like one of her patients. But she's not here anymore, so I'm free to write! Thank goodness. If my power is good for anything, it is this. And maybe hide and seek when I get a hold on it... Haha! I could hide in a closet and just walk through the wall when someone came to look for me. Oh boy, funny thoughts. I bet a lot of powers could be a big help in hide and seek. Extreme hide and seek game at Hammel... Oh goodness!
With that thought, I head off to class. Farewell, little purple book.
