General Appearance:
Lany is a slight young girl, standing just under 5’3’’. She has an average frame, soft and rounded, with just a little bit of a muffin-top whenever she wears jeans. But she doesn’t mind it – and this softness adds to her cherubic quality. Her moon-like face not only deceives others into thinking she’s much younger than she is (say, fourteen), it also gives off the distinct impression of innocence and charm. She has open and expressive dark green eyes.
Lany wears her hair long, most often tied into pigtails or a ponytail. Though most of her clothes have a hand-me-down, worn quality (her parents could only buy so many clothes), she still makes the best out of what she’s got. Most of the time Lany will prefer active-wear, such as work jeans and a sleeveless top, a regular t-shirt, or a simple hoodie, but she’s not adverse to the more flashy kind of clothing either. Once in a while she may be seen wearing a lacy pink top and a skirt.
All in all, Lany’s appearance fits her personality: ordinary, unassuming, and youthful.
Personality:
Her parents are baffled as to where Lany’s introverted nature comes from. While some of the other children aren’t exactly verbose – Zach for one – Lany tipped the scale with a grand total of 20 or less words a day…on average, of course. She’s opened up a bit since, but she is still very quiet, very introverted, and very private.
She is the perfect example of a wallflower. It is quite easy to blend in to such a large and active family, and she often does. She seems to understand that her parents and her siblings value the things she has to say, but no amount of coaxing, gentle or otherwise, convinces her to speak loudly or often. It just seems an inherent personality trait. Lany is comfortable in silence. She will vastly prefer a comfortable night spent indoors to one out in a club.
Some may say that she is just shy, but it seems to stem from an urgent need to feel safe from other people; she surrounds herself in soft and comforting things: pillows, stuffed animals, slippers, long blankets, all things that insulate her and soften blows. Nobody knows exactly what frightens her, and it’s not clear if Lany knows herself.
Lany is soft-spoken, mild-mannered and very easy to get along with. She has a great magnanimous spirit, and is generous to a fault – and as it is with all quiet people (or so it seems), Lany is always willing to put others before her. She cares deeply about her family. She will often give them small personalized gifts that have little value to anyone else, but immense emotional value to herself.
But she is still immature, and Lany has a vivid jealousy streak. As someone who constantly compares herself to others, she can become extremely envious of anyone she perceives does a job better than her. This can make her very sulky. She is prone to passive aggressive fits, and will deflect any and all attempts to confront her directly, which can make her frustrating to deal with.
Once, as a project for school, she was made to capture bugs and pin them. She let the cricket asphyxiate to death in the glass jar rather than deliver it a swift killing blow out of a misguided idea of kindness and an abhorrence to violence, and she applies much the same method to any conflict she comes across.

History
Lany was born to the prolific Bishop family on April 23. A number of siblings preceded her and a number of them would follow. By the time her parents had her, they were un-intimidated by the prospect of having another child, and she grew just the same as the others.
Life is especially hard for those born insecure, yet also born with the terrible need to shine, and doubly so if they are part of a large family. She was constantly at odds with herself. She was needy, but modest. Usually the latter won out in the end, and she would often sacrifice her spotlight for another…and the competition, though loving, was cutthroat; one cannot stand out among them without extending themselves or doing something particularly spectacular. When she was almost ten, Lany was forced to reckon with the fact that she might not be terribly unique.
It was a strangely liberating idea, in a way. Now that she had admitted it, she no longer felt as much of an urge to stand out. She grew more comfortable with herself. How cares if they found her too quiet, too shy, too boring? If she did not engage them, then they could find someone else to entertain. Lany surrounded herself with pillows and soft things instead.
She went through her educational career this way. She made a few friends, but wasn’t sure how worth it the attempt would be, since she was raised in a meta family and they were all more or less expected to attend Hammel. Sure enough – though she manifested a little late, at age 13 – Lany found she could make the air dance around her.
Now Lany attends Hammel. She is a creature teachers often describe as “pleasant to have in class.” Her power is apt, as she is as unassuming and as invisible as the wind, as quiet as a breeze, but also essential and a force to be reckoned with, though she does not know it yet.
In between class and leisure time, Lany works at the Pilot Ridge Stables. She mucks out stalls and grooms horses in exchange for riding lessons. Often, Lany will spend many hours there, only coming home well past sun down. It is her favorite place to be.
