Now that Junpei had been here at Hammel for more than just a few weeks, actually a few months by this point, he was far more familiar with the town Pilot Ridge than he had been before. This was good, because it meant that he could actually find his way around, somewhat....ok, he still used his GPS chronically, but at least he was less likely of becoming lost. That and he had also memorized the way to a number of places which caught his interest: the tea shop, the hamburger place, the skate shop, the mall and most importantly, the skate-park.
Junpei rolled down the hill on his board, keeping to the right side of the street and, as courtesy would expect, kicking it up whenever the sidewalk and street became too crowded with cars and pedestrians. After all, he wouldn't want to hit any of them...or get hit by any of them...
Once he got to the park, Junpei once again kicked up his board and pushed the chain-link gate open to enter the small park. It wasn't very big, but compared to the indoor "parks" they had back at home, it was a luxury, especially since it was outside and properly constructed rather than being made out of random pieces of construction equipment and hidden out in abandoned warehouses that could quickly be shut down at a moment's notice. Yes, this was yet another reason to like America.
Junpei set his bag down next to the bench about a dozen or so feet from the lip of the bowl and pulled out one of the several energy drinks he had in the front pocket. He snapped it open and downed it all at once then tossed it into a nearby trashcan. Then the boy proceeded to arm himself with his skating equipment: elbow and knee pads, wrist pads, and of course, his helmet. It might have looked a little dorky, but after all, safety always came first. Plus he had name brand equipment, so it was ok and they were all just jealous.
He waited for a break in the traffic before pitching himself off the edge of the bowl and down into the pool, weaving his board from side to side down the tunnel as he built up momentum for his warm-ups.
And he could feel the energy drink kicking in already.
