The BasicsName: Koty Hura
Nicknames: Koty is fine, thanks.
Age: Sixteen
Orientation: I look to what is inside a person more than to their gender.
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Touch-Telepathy
Koty's meta-human ability is two-way telepathy that requires a physical connection to the person whose mind is to be read. With a brief or surprise touch nearly anywhere on his body, he may well be subjected to the most powerful emotions or memories a person has had in their past. With more lengthy exposure to any given person, Koty is able to sort through the chaotic nature of a person's subconscious and read their thoughts and memories as well as any telepath of similar experience. Koty may also share his own thoughts and memories across his telepathic link as long as it remains unbroken, though it is much more difficult to send than to receive.
It is not possible for Koty to manipulate the memories or thoughts of a person directly. His only way of using his ability to manipulate others is via the more pure form of direct telepathic communication in place of the spoken word. He cannot hypnotize, brainwash, or mind-control another person, though the person Koty is in contact with will retain memory of the event similar to the way a person would recall having a conversation or sharing memories verbally. He is also incapable of incapacitating a person via his link except by overwhelming a person in the same way he himself can be overwhelmed. At any time a person may choose to break contact and their link with him.
Side effects to Koty's ability include headaches, disorientation, mental fatigue, nightmares, confusion, the risk of psychological trauma, feinting, and requiring far more sleep than usual to function normally. In the case of extreme over-exertion or that an emotion, memory, or experience is simply incomprehensible or overwhelming to Koty, there is the possibility that he may end up in a coma or a dissociative fugue.
Repeated contact with a given individual will allow Koty to become more accustomed to their 'wavelength' and the way they perceive the world around them, minimizing risk to himself as well as side-effects, but prolonged use of his abilities – even with a familiar individual - will almost always result in a minimum of headaches and mental fatigue.

General Appearance: Aside from being five-foot seven, generally thin and lithe, Koty has a casual and confident posture. He favors darker clothes that aren't tight enough to be considered form-fitting with very little flash. He is very seldom found wearing shorts, t-shirts, or tank tops, instead covering the vast majority of his body any time he is around others. This includes long-sleeve shirts, full-length pants, jackets, hoodies, etc., occasionally even gloves. His skin is rather light thanks to his father's side of the family, and if asked he would claim that he simply sunburned easily.
His hair is kept boyish and fairly short, a bit messy, and tends to remain quite voluminous no matter what he does to it. It's a common look, and a decent one, so it simply works. Beneath messy bangs lie thick eyebrows and eyes that give the impression he can see more than most would at first glance. He has lightly defined cheekbones, thin cheeks, and lips fuller and prettier than he would ever feel was necessary. Koty's jawline is on the soft side, while his neck gives a subtle clue to the strength in his upper body, which otherwise remains hidden beneath at least one layer of clothing at all times.
Personality: Once a nervous and somewhat manic child, Koty's outlook as well as his interactions have become far more neutral since his manifestation as a meta. Looking back, he has quite a hard time remembering why it seemed necessary to single himself out as he did. Making anything all about himself. Anymore, Koty keeps a mostly neutral outlook, only seeming to show real emotion during or shortly after contact with others who happen to have extreme emotions or memories. This doesn't mean h
Koty is quick to lend a hand, especially when it would have just as easily remained idle, and will seldom accept compensation when he does. The only thing more pointless than wasting a perfectly good body is wasting a perfectly good mind, and all minds have potential. Koty doesn't speak much, and isn't particularly fond of contractions. He believes that when something needs said it should be said simply, accurately, and that it shouldn't need to be rushed. Koty is slow to make friends, but very quick to make acquaintances and 'buddies'.Your VicesLikes:

Any Other Important People:Aruka Mitotoru – first person Koty used his meta ability onHistoryIn the early 90s, a half-Japanese man fell in love with a spirited and wild little Japanese woman while he was visiting his mother. His trip was extended from one week to two, then to a month, and he split his time between his obligations and his new found love. She found him endearing and fascinating and the week before he was to leave for his home in America, they promised themselves to each other. Nine months later a still unwed Misaki Khu gave birth to a healthy little boy with his father's face and his mother's eyes. She gave him his father's name, knowing that one day they would be a family living far from Japan and wanting her son to have a normal life in America.
While that day was never to come, Misaki was a wonderful friend.. even if she wasn't always the best mother. She played with her son, she talked with him, she invited his friends over and taught him all she could. He grew up learning both Japanese and English and she never had to be hard on him to keep his grades up. He excelled at running and at drawing and the woman was never once anything but proud of her little boy.. But even as the years passed, Misaki continued playing the role of 'the fun parent' instead of 'the only parent' and Koty had to learn a lot of lessons on his own that most kids would have at least gotten a heads-up about from one parent or the other.
One day shortly after his thirteenth birthday, Koty didn't return from school. He wasn't home that night or the next morning, and when Misaki finally found him he was waiting for her on the subway she took to work every morning. He touched her hand and stared up at her with exhausted, scared, confused eyes, and his mother simply hugged him and held him close. Without a word she had understood exactly what had happened and why. That day, Koty was enrolled in Eisai gakkō, a school for meta-humans. The following day, the father of Koty's friend Aruka personally thanked him for saving his child's life.
Aruka had been planning on .. very permanent things, and Koty's abilities had allowed him to see them and help prevent them.
The school for meta-humans was a tough one, and Koty's limits, skills, and abilities were all put to the test. By the time he turned fifteen, Koty was settled. He was as content as one could expect and he was confident in himself and his abilities. His mother, no longer having to take care of her quickly growing child, had taken life by the horns and decided to make up for all the fun she had missed out on while she was busy trying to be a mom... that fun caught up to her a few months before Koty's sixteenth birthday.
She was involved in an accident while riding a scooter, the result of which was her death. Ordinarily, a child in Koty's position would have become the property of the state or the school until he could be placed with a foster family.. but Koty was born of an American and a Japanese resident and had dual citizenship. Dual citizenship and a spot in his mother's will that requested that Koty be sent to live with his father should anything happen to her. Koty's father, Joseph, knew he wouldn't make the greatest dad but honored Misaki's wishes... since he had never managed to do the one thing he had promised her, he thought it right that he at least try to honor her last wish.
Shortly after he turned sixteen, Koty found himself staying with the father he hardly knew in northern Georgia, already recruited to attend Hammel Institute. He was there four days before his recruiter arrived to take him off to the meta-human boarding school. That was one month ago.Roleplay ExampleKoty found himself on a bus that he rode every day. Sitting in the seat he sat in every day. Idly watching the storefronts and apartments fly past like they did every day when he sat in this seat on this bus. Every day there were regular commuters, every day there were new commuters, every day there were tourists. Koty folded his hands and rested them on his lap. He didn't need to know these people as well as touching them would allow him to. He didn't want to. Like every day, he would keep his hands to himself and patiently wait until the bus arrived in front of his school. Eisai gakkō.
Suddenly he was thrown to the side, reaching out on instinct to grasp at anything to steady himself. Horns were blaring, brakes grinding, tires squealing on asphalt.. and suddenly there was a brilliant flash of color. Red and orange. The awful greedy crackling of fire. He sat up in bed and his eyes and skin burned from the heat. The fear he felt was like a weight crushing his entire body from all sides at once, his head felt like it was in a vacuum and his chest like it was in a vice. There were no words, only terror and heat and fear and horrible, horrible fire. Everywhere...
The bus driver cursed as a the obnoxious exhaust of a car faded in the distance.. Koty glanced left.. his hand mere millimeters from the stiff, darkened scar tissue of a man who had been burned many years ago in a fire... He took in a deep breath and quickly pulled his hand away, placing it on his knee where it should have stayed. “Sorry, Sir.” On his way into school, Koty would search the vendors for a pair of gloves. If he never experienced the memory of being burned alive again, it would still be too soon. What About You?Name: Deuce
