Finally.. Finally Kit had found out about a recruiter.. and she had managed to track this one down while she was actually on campus and not out recruiting. She hadn't managed to find any info aside from the name and gender.. Plus there had been a horrible and grainy picture. Danged websites. The picture wasn't even in color. What year was this, anyway?
There were several possibilities for why the picture was old, grainy, and not updated. The first was obviously that the web developer was lazy. The second was that this lady was a workaholic and never got around to getting new pictures.. And the third was that she was crazy shy or something and looked for work any time someone tried to get around to taking her picture. Why was the last bit a possibility? Kit's aunt was the same way.. Christmas pictures never had her in them because she would find something that needed doing and sneak off to do it. On the plus side, the dishes almost always got done without Kit having to help. On the negative side, Aunt Kris was actually really cool when she wasn't worrying about silly things.
Anyway, here Kit was at the office of Hammel recruiter Midori Hawkins. All she knew about the woman was that she was female.. and named Midori Hawkins.. and that the lady was maybe shy.. and probably not vain. A vain person would have updated their picture.. duh. But here Kit was.. with a plan.. fully intending on trolling and saying hello to this lady at the same time.. Because recruiters dealt with a lot of stuff. They aught to be able to handle a little silliness.. Besides, there was the tiny chance that this lady was crazy observant and had read the files on every recently enrolled student.. perhaps even knew who Kit was. Which was why Kit was using a kitty form that noone knew about.. and looked nothing like the one that might be on file.
Today Kit was a tiny blue-eyed calico medium-haired kitten (Clickyclicky).. and when Midori showed up she would find this tiny obscenely cute little kitten nomming hungrily from an open can of wet cat food.. Only she likely wouldn't see them until she was about to unlock her door and walk into her office, because the can and the kitten basically fit in the doorframe.
When the kitten was identified, though, it would stare up at Midori for a moment, then let out what was supposed to be a threatening growl (that ended up coming out as a horribly cute squeaky high-pitched mew) before it desperately tried to drag the half-empty can of catfood away... and ended up falling over, unable to even budge the can, before stuffing it's face in, getting one last mouthful, and backing away to the other end of the doorframe, bumping it's little rear end into the doorframe and jumping in surprise, falling this time forward on it's face and just laying there, deadly still, staring (in apparent fear) up at Midori.
Why all the semantics? One, because it was actually extremely fun.. and two because being adorable was also extremely fun.. not to mention that three, the more you hook someone into the 'omgsocute' gig, the less freaked out they were when suddenly you were a 50-inch tall girl staring at them and grinning. --But if all went well, that would be a few minutes away, and by that time, perhaps this Midori lady would be ready to take Kit home as a pet. Hehehe.
