General Appearance: Standing at 5’9”, she has a dancer’s body. But Asher is clumsy when she walks. Standing still, she can pass herself off as graceful. She doesn’t work hard for this body, though she believes that her body stays slim with no diet and exercise because she shape shifts into a snake. Asher has bright blue eyes, which she likes to accent with very dark or black make up. Her hair is a constant pride for her. White blonde naturally, it stops at her waist and is thin and very fine. With all of her elaborate clothing choices, she likes to pin it up or leave it down.
Personality: Despite her height and weird clothing choices, she is actually a pretty nice person. People take her appearance to be funky and strange, so there are times when they will cross the street to avoid walking next to her. Optimistic is a word that describes her well. She is constantly looking on the bright side of things or finding the silver lining in a job gone wrong or plans cancelled. She is blinded by her optimistic outlook on life. She tends to look for the good in everyone, which can land her in abusive relationships and manipulative friendships.
If Asher knows people are being mean to her, or if she believes they are, she will completely ignore them. She will pretend that they don't exist and even look straight through them. This is a tactic that has worked in the past and it continues to work as she gets sniggers and whispers about her clothing choices.
Asher shuts down if people are yelling at her. She will retreat into her shell or shape shift into the snake form. She starts crying if they use cuss words against her. She is vulnerable to fighting and refuses to raise her voice at anyone. Though, there have been times where she has actually lost her temper. Anger will grab a hold of her and will shut her down as well. When she gets angry, which is rare, she shuts down. She becomes quiet and reserved, normally just steps back and analyzes the situation.
Asher is observant, except when it comes to her relationships with other people. She tries to help her friends, sometimes she can come off as too happy and hyper about the person’s downfall or bad situation. Parents accident
Asher Mew was nine years when she got pulled out of her class to be told by a police officer that her parents were killed in a car accident. Two painful weeks flew by with tears, lots of casserole dishes showing up on the doorstep and pats on the head. There was talk about putting her in foster care or in the care of her older sister by 21 years, Nayeli Mew. She was not close to her sister at the time and generally avoided talking to her or having any contact with her at all. Asher liked the idea of being an only child, now she was orphan. She was moved from her home in Portland, Oregon with the help of her aunt to the small town of Pilot Ridge, Vermont. Asher started to go to the elementary school there until she was 12 years old.
Start of her powers
Asher was a happy child beside the fact that both her parents were dead. One sunny day at her school, one of the girls got particularly nasty to Ash and called her an orphan freak for having no parents and living with her older sister. That was the first time Ash ever felt anger and she had hoped, at the time, it would be the last. All she wanted to do was cause the girl harm, to make her feel the pain that those words made her feel. It was painful, shifting into an eight foot python. Surprise made her lose the form quickly. Asher was exhausted from the pain and quick transformation.
Hammel Institute
It was not long before the institute found her and brought her to the dorms. Her sister insisted that she lived “among her kind” instead of having to commute back and forth. Secretly, Asher wondered if her sister thought she was a freak as well and was happy to get rid of her. That was not the case. The sisters hold and held a close bond, even when she moved into the girl dorms and made all kind of friends because of her happy and friendly demeanor. She did get picked on for her clothing choices, but as Asher is, she ignored them or retreated into her shell when it got nasty. Four years of being in the middle, torn between being a nice girl on campus and strange to a lot of people, she made it without getting so much as a scratch on her mental being. Anger was an emotion that did not bother her as much as it had when she was younger and she can now control the urge to bite people (she believes it’s the snake instincts in her) and can change at will.
College
Asher wants to be a creative author. She is taking part time classes at the local community college and has moved back home with her sister. Ash works part time at a local supermarket and in the meantime, she is working on a novel idea.Roleplay ExampleAsher plopped down on the couch in the living room. Her hand itched to turn on the TV, but she was afraid of waking up her sister from her nap. Work was a drag and her brain was too backed up with the homework due in the next week to think about adding to her novel. The girl plopped her feet onto the coffee table in front of her and settled more into the couch before dozing off. “Asher Mew!” Nayeli’s voice called. Asher sat up straight, groggily looking around for her sister.
“I didn’t do it,” she said automatically, still searching and finding her in the kitchen. Her older sister only gave her look before pointing to the vegetables that needed to be cut for dinner. “I swear,” she continued, grinning at her sister.
“Have you worked on your homework today?”
“You act like I’m ten years old, sister,” Asher said, chopping the carrot with ease.
“You act like it sometimes,” Nayeli shot back. Asher put the knife down to make a retort back to her sister, but only shook her head and admitted that no, she did not do her homework.
