New traditions

As the girls made their way into the dorm room, Anita eyed the bathroom door and set her gym bag on the floor. "Hey, d'you mind if I use your hair blower? And.. go change?" she gestured at her almost naked body, covered only by a red swimsuit. She fished dry clothes out of her bag and went to change.


She emerged minutes later, hair dry, wearing this. With her sleeves rolled up and her hair in a ponytail, she dropped her wet swimsuit in her bag and slumped on a random bed.

"So, where's the booze?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows. She stretched on her stomach on the bed and reached into a pocket of her bag, producing a packet of cigarettes. "Oh, and mind if I smoke? It's really been a while." she said, eyeing the window.

Waving a hand in the direction of the bathroom, Sawyer went in search of her stash in the kitchen. “Yeah, yeah. Go ahead. Uh…I don’t have one but if you find one in the bathroom, it’s all yours.” The older meta shrugged and grabbed a chair, pushing it against the cabinet and climbing on it.

She felt up the back of one of the cabinets filled with powdered cocoa and sugar and packets of biscuits and pushed against something, popping open the back section of it, pulling it to reveal a cache of tiny bottles of alcohol. She did the same thing in another cabinet and got out the bigger bottles, jumping off the chair and waiting for Annie to come out of the bathroom.

At her question, Sawyer held up the bottle she had made quick work of even before the redhead got out of the bathroom. A lazy smile spread against Sawyer’s lips when cigarettes appeared. She joined the healer on the bed and dropped on it, getting unnecessarily close to her. “So long as you smoke out of the window, I’m fine with anything.” Sawyer scratched her stomach before taking a swig from the bottle.

She was still in her swimsuit with her towel wrapped around her head as she snuggled on the bed. “Man, drinking in the middle of the night just makes me so sleepy. But you best be ready to streak, Red. Don’t think I’ve forgotten.”

As soon as she asked about the alcohol, Annie saw the bottle in Sawyer's hands. She grinned widely and, after she grabbed the cigarettes, stole the bottle and took a long swig, sighing contently.

When she got the brunette's approval, she got up from the bed and walked into the kitchen and grabbed a chair from the table. She dragged it back into the bedroom and propped it next to the window. She sat on it with her legs under her and opened the window. A cold gust of wind blew some strands off her face and she pulled her sleeves back down, shivering. She fished a cigarette and a lighter out of her pack and lit it, taking one long drag.

"Want one?" she offered Sawyer. "Yeah yeah I got it. Still have a few hours though, gonna get some encouragement." she smiled. She propped an elbow on the windowsill and shifted her position, pulling her knees to her chest. "Put something on, you're gonna catch a cold." she said despite the short appreciative glance she shot the voice mimic.

Sawyer didn't even protest when Annie grabbed her bottle. The voice mimic blindly felt up the floor for the other bottle she had brought in and took a swig of that.

She watched as the redhead brought the chair in and lit up her cigarette. It was a strange sight, seeing Sawyer so quiet but the swim before and now the alcohol warming her up nicely, it was making her unwind a little.

The offer was met with a shake of the brunette's head. "It messes up my vocals. I mean I already have a raspy voice, I don't need that to do any more damage." She answered truthfully, not at all discouraging the redhead from her habit.

"Ah...yeah." Sawyer nodded slowly before rolling out of bed and going over to her wardrobe to find her tanktop and pajama pants. Pushing the straps to her one piece down, Sawyer slipped the tanktop over her head. There was just no more shame when it came to the voice mimic, even though they barely knew each other. She was just too used to changing in front people that she didn't think it would matter.

Shimmying out of the rest of her one piece, she put on her pants and looked around for her hoodie. Snuggling into it, she jumped back into bed and chugged down some more alcohol.

"You know who your trainer is already?" She asked, making small talk.

"Raspy voices are the best, they make you sound like one of those vamps who smoke those long cigarettes." Annie said and chugged a mouthful of alcohol. She looked out the window while Sawyer changed. Taking another drag of her cigarette, she pretended to be really interested in a tree, not wanting to seem like a prude, but not like a perv, either. "Is it because of your power? The raspiness, I mean."

Hearing the squeaky sound of the bed, she turned around and saw the mimic snuggled on it. Finding it harder to take the chilly night wind, she finished her cig, extinguished it and wrapped it in a handkerchief. She was always careful not to leave evidence around campus, so she always threw her cigarettes away hidden in something else.

She closed the window and took her bottle with her next to Sawyer, on the bed. "Yeah, her name is Honor Sayers. She's one tough cookie, the most kindness she's shown so far was tying a tourniquet on my arm." she laughed. "But she's skilled, even if her power isn't like mine, she's a good guide." She chugged. "You?"

"So you're saying my voice is sexy." Sawyer teased with a little smirk in the corner of her lips. "Actually no. The raspiness is mostly from my yelling when I was younger. Broke something in my windpipe or something." She shrugged.

When the redhead came over, Sawyer winced at the mention of Annie's trainer. "God, that bitch is insane." She responded. Surprised that Miss Sayers could even tie a tourniquet even when she was blind, Sawyer put on an impressed look on her face. "Some singing trainer. I can't be fucked to remember her name." Shrugging, the brunette sipped a little more from her bottle.

An affectionate drunk, Sawyer turned on her side and curled her leg over Annie's, hugging her bottle close to her chest.

"You drunk yet, bitch?"

Annie laughed at Sawyer's remark about Miss Sayers and drank a big mouthful out of her bottle. "A singer? What the fuck?" she laughed again, almost choking on her drink. The brunette swung her leg over Annie's. She probably would have felt awkward about this, especially since the girls only met that night. But, drunk as she was, she didn't think much of it and enjoyed the warmth.

She laughed again at her friend's question. "Hell, I don't know. Am I?" She let her hair down and ran a hand through it, enjoying the release. Remembering something, she set her bottle on the floor and reached over Sawyer into her bag, retrieving a bar of chocolate. Raising the pillow so it came between her head and the bed's headboard, she snapped the bar in half and started to eat one. "Want some?" she asked with her mouth full. She laughed, covering it with her hand.

"Have any siblings?" the redhead yawned. She hoped the alcohol wouldn't mellow her down 'cause she was already sleepy and they had to keep it up another couple of hours until she had to do the bet.
