The BasicsName: Philomena Annalee Snow
Nicknames: Mina, Anna, Lee, Nalee; practically anything that isn't Philomena
Age: 18 (Birthday: July 8th)
Orientation: Bisexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Shadow Manipulation: Mina is able to create shadows and make them dissipate at will. The largest shadow she can conjure up is about the size of the shadow of a large dog. She can manipulate shadows she's created and shadows that are already there to move at her will, but shadows belonging to a living being are outside of her control. She can disappear into any shadows, and can stay that way as long as she stays in the shadow, but she will be pushed out after staying in the same shadow for any longer than 10 to 15 minutes, and depending on the size of the shadow, being in it may cause her discomfort if it's too small. Her power causes her minor insomnia which causes her to only sleep for a few hours in a night at the most, and it gets worse depending on how much she has used her power on that day. She also has photosensitive epilepsy, meaning she goes into a tonic-clonic seizure when exposed to flashing lights. It's also given her a disattachment from others - she doesn't feel like she's part of the world she's in, so she doesn't feel right when talking to others.
Play By: Elizabeth GilliesThe DetailsHair Color: Depends. Her natural colour is brunette, but she likes to dye it sometimes, usually to black. And she occasionally slips an interesting colour in there to brighten it all up.
Eye Color: Light Blue
Any Piercings? Twice in both ear lobes, once on the rim of her right ear and one in her left eyebrow
Any Tattoos? A small hummingbird below the thumb on her left hand.
Any Scars? A cut that shows as a thin, almost unnoticeable, diagonal line across the back of her neck, going from around the base of her left ear and stopping at her right shoulder.
General Appearance: Mina is taller than the average girl, topping the lot at around 5'10". She has a pretty to-die-for body, big-ish boobs, thin waist, long legs. She has pale skin, almost like a china-doll in complexion. She has an average nose and eyes, but the colour of blue that her irises own is amazing, they look like they are looking straight into your soul. She has quite a square jaw and a beautiful smile, on the very rare occasion that she shows it. Her face's neutral positioning makes it look like she's scowling at everything ever so slightly.
She has quite a large amount of piercings, but that's just the way she likes it. She has a subtle tattoo on her hand, a little hummingbird, because it reminds her of herself. Able to whisk themselves away in the wind and be lost, forgotten, possibly leaving behind a small memory.
She generally wears quite dark clothes, nothing too flashy. The brightest colours she usually wears are in her hair, occasionally interweaving a flash of a bright hue among the darkness. Her appearance could be compared to that of an "emo" or a "goth", but she isn't either. She's just Mina.
Personality: A woman of few words, Mina believes silence is golden and sticks to that theory very closely, but mainly because a break in silence is usually followed by social interaction, which isn't exactly her strong point. Since she keeps to herself generally, it gives her a chance to study and become the best she possibly can be, making her top in almost every class she can be top in. When you do somehow end up in a conversation with Mina, she can be very... sharp-tongued. But it's not completely intentional. She just doesn't want to let anyone in, because she doesn't want them to be caught up in her problems. She thinks she's saving them.
She is very independent, if a little lonely, because of all of this. She's introverted, but not necessarily shy. She doesn't like too much attention, but she isn't afraid to let her image linger in someone's memory with a threat. She has a much lower confidence than she puts out, possibly even smaller than she realizes herself. She uncomfortable with whole she is, and just wishes she could just start it all over and possibly get it right. The words she does speak are usually very educated, not just random shouts of rushed insults. She learns what makes a person the way they are, what makes them so happy, and puts that against them, if they get on her bad side. It helps that she can follow them in the shadows and find out their secrets. Generally, she acts as a good student with indifferent emotions towards everything, unless they prod her in the wrong place.
She is a misogynist, but she's also bisexual. She hates the way women act, and the fact that it's all "tits and teeth" if you want to get noticed by someone, apparently. She doesn't like that a lot of women don't fight back for their own right to live as they want, and therefore views them as weak and misguided, unless they can somehow prove that statement to be false. Opinionated and proud women are very hot, in her opinion.Your VicesLikes:

Any Other Important People:Thomas Brooks, 19 (Non-meta)HistoryPhilomena Annalee Snow was born on July 6th, 1995 in Maddock General Hospital to Mr. Peter Jefferies and Miss. Dorothy Hannah Snow, soon to be Mrs. Dorothy Hannah Jefferies. With no complications or the like, the proud parents of Philomena took their new daughter home a few days later, to her beautiful room, decorated in pink and purple and cream. The family lived happily together, and Dorothy gave birth to another daughter when Philomena was 4, another little girl, who they named Kathryn Penelope. But this was where everything went downhill. All the attention that little Philomena was used to had to be cut in half and given to Kathryn as well. And then some for the fact that she was a newborn; in other words, Philomena began to feel rather left out.
She decided to turn her efforts to getting her parent's attention, by working hard and getting good grades in school, once she began going to school, which also meant she avoided making friends at first. She expected, expected to the point of hoping, that her parents would eventually split the attention back equally, at least, but for some reason, they continued to concentrate their focus on Kathryn over Philomena. At this point, the 6 year old with a very mature consciousness decided that "Que sera, sera." She began to make a few friends, and thanks to her increased concentration beforehand, she flourished academically.
It was when she moved up to high school that she stopped using her words so much and Philomena became Mina. Something had happened in the first few weeks of bring there which no-one, not even herself could understand. She suddenly felt... detached. Alone. She would be surrounded by her friends, but she could never concentrate on the conversation, because of how different she felt. A few disowned her quickly, deciding that they couldn't be bothered with the silent creep. Her closer friends tried to help her, but they eventually gave up and left her too.
In a final sprint of hope, she turned to her family for comfort, but she was met with a horrible, crushing reality. Her father had left her family behind, and had disappeared. She didn't cry, like her little sister, and she didn't ask questions or go looking, like her mother. Mina was silent. That event was the tipping point that changed her from confused to bitter, sad to cold, detached to seperate. And that night, she sunk into the shadows and hid there.
She converted her lifestyle to that of a simple one: eat, drink, work, sleep. She just wanted to get to grips with everything, to understand what her present was and what her future would become. She didn't answer questions in class, she didn't ask for help, she didn't speak at all. She was becoming the ghost of the little girl she once was.
She was eating dinner about a week and a half later when there was knock at the door. The man there introduced himself as a recruiter of students for the Hammel Institute. The family had always expected the day to come, a child born of two metas, and Mina knew why he was there, but Dorothy and Kathryn were confused and unknowing of the situation. She hadn't obviously manifested yet, had she? But she had. She knew she could play with the shadows. She had found the place where she belonged, the place where everything seemed alright. When she was surrounded by the cool darkness, nothing was better.
She began training at the Hammel Institute a little while later, developing her ability whilst still learning ordinary school subjects. She didn't make friends, even though there were those who tried, and she only communicated with actions, unless she had to speak. During her first year at Hammel, she discovered the epilepsy that she now had to deal with, and the increasing insomnia that had built up from training days on end. It was a difficult time; the pills given the prevent the seizures did nothing when they were supposed tto help, and the insomnia grew worse. She developed a foul attitude because of this, towards most things. She still valued her intelligence, and continued studying as hard as ever, but she did no after-school activities, never went to any parties and only left the dorms to go to lessons or eat food.
And that's where past meets present. She's improving slowly, getting out a little more often, but avoid social contact at all costs. She likes to hide away from most and confronts anyone who opposes her. She's built strong walls on weak foundations that may crumble soon if she's not careful, but for now she's staying concealed in her shell, where nothing can touch her.Roleplay ExampleWhat About You?Name: Apple
