Every dime and dollar counted. So when his fliers went up for tutoring, he knew he have to accept any calls. Not that he mind... it was somewhat like pre-pre-teaching. He had a few years left before he could lead a classroom but it was kinda like that. He was sure teachers gave one-on-ones so this was just more practice. Making his way to the Institute for the first time in a while, he was pretty sure him being gone for the last almost two years that he’d been away that any fragments of his history at the school would be gone.



Dressed up (well, he couldn’t not look respectable) in a tight button up shirt and dress pants as he made his way to the co-ed dormitory... he was pretty sure he should of requested to live in these ones back in the day. Would of made it easier on him. He may not of been out now but it felt impossible to do so when you have three other guy roommates. Water under the bridge now as he knocked on the front door of the room. “Hello? I’m here for a Mister Tang?” he announced on the other side of the door.

This was... Sort of an experiment. Phen had no idea what to expect from actually, finally getting a real tutor, so he tried not to get his hopes up too much. English wasn't one of his best subjects (well, none of them were, really), and even though his grades had gone up a little recently, he still had a lot of room for improvement. He'd even started wearing reading glasses recently, which helped a lot with the headaches he got from reading for too long. Oriel's encouragement helped tremendously; Phen had just ignored his schoolwork for so long and had probably fried so many brain cells that he was learning very slowly.

The recent accident had left him in a leg cast, which he had propped up on the bed underneath a couple layers of blankets. His wings, which had also been broken, were a sort of interesting case - they were hard to really put a cast on, so some custom-made frames had been created to help ease them back into place. Unfortunately, that also meant they had to be out all the time, which Phoenix didn't particularly like, but there was nothing he could do about it.

Oriel was there, too, when the knock came at the door, and Phen clutched at his hand, obviously intimidated. A moment later, he propped himself up off of the bed, still holding a blanket over his cold figure, and hobbled over to open the door. "Um, th-that's me," he offered, but as soon as he caught sight of this tutor Phen's eyes widened and he gaped for a moment. He - Lance, right? - was gorgeous.

Averting his eyes, and very aware that Oriel was there and probably watching him, Phen stood to the side and offered the guy to come in, wobbling back over to his bed once he did. "Um, L-Lance, right? This, uh, this is Oriel - is it okay if he stays around?" Hopefully his lover's presence would be enough to keep Phen from making a complete idiot out of himself in front of this piece of work. "I've, um, never really had any tutoring before."

Giving a polite smile to the younger guy, probably nervous in just asking for help. He wasn’t shocked because well, not everyone was used to strangers helping “Yeah, that’s me.” he answered back, looking at the apparent injured boy “You okay?” he had to ask, it was obvious question but he was somewhat concerned on it.

Lifting his head to the extra in the room “No problem if he wants to hang around though as long as he knows we are here to study.” unless he was as well, to study... getting linked to two heads wasn’t easy or fun so he kinda hoped Oriel was just here for being here’s sake. A little smirk came across his face “It’s just really a study session with someone who knows the answers... plus I can look over essays and homework stuff. Any specific area you are struggling with?” he said as he took a seat as he looked around the room and area.

Of course it would be chance that had Oriel on the other side of the room when the knock came at the door. He glared as Phen forced himself up to answer it. "The fuck're you doing?" he snapped, stepping in close to Phen and ushering him back to the bed. "You should've let me do that, you cripple."

And yup. This 'tutor' was just a little too good looking for Oriel's taste. He'd have to keep an eye on this one. Oriel gave the guy a nod of greeting then laid himself over the bed. "You guy's just get along with your 'studying'. I'll just be right over here." He shut his eyes and set his hands behind his head. Oh, he'd be keeping an eye on them. Or at least an ear.

At the question of if Phen was okay, he was about to answer before Oriel came over and started ushering him back to the bed, which Phoenix did obediently and with only a sheepish look at his boyfriend. "I had an... Accident," he explained meekly. "Just, um, broke my leg. And my, uh, wings," he mumbled. "I-it's not too bad." Okay, it was pretty bad, but he didn't want to say that. "I'm not a cripple," he whined to Oriel, turning to face him with a pout. He didn't mind the pet names, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to playfully complain.

After a moment longer looking at Oriel, Phen brought his attention back to Lance, propping his injured leg back up on the bed. "He'll be good," he promised, even if he couldn't be entirely sure. I need to be good too... He pursed his lips as he dipped his gaze away from the tutor's pretty face. When asked what area he was struggling with, he considered it for a moment before meekly replying,"Everything?" Phen laughed weakly and rubbed the back of his head. "Um... We've been studying for a test, and I can't seem t'be able to remember all the different types of words..." For the life of him, he couldn't remember what a preposition was, where he was supposed to put a comma and where not to, or anything else, for that matter. "I... My memory isn't the best," he mumbled.

“Can tell.” he joked, not many people purposely have injuries. “You sure you’re fine to do things? I can reschedule if you want.” He didn’t want someone to be distracted by pain. Smiling to Phoenix’s friend, was the adult being babysat by the teen? He wasn’t sure if he wanted an answer to that. “I am sure he will be good.” wasn’t like Lance was a small guy who gets intimidated.

Chuckling to his generalization of everything. “That’s fine, memory is like any muscle... just gotta work it a bit and it’ll get stronger.” It was the truth... more you work your brain, the better it gets Lance knew. Letting himself established a link with Phoenix since Oriel wasn’t involved with the session “So, how about you show me some of the homework you got and we can start from there?”

Phen nodded energetically. "I'm sure! I-I won't need my leg t'study, will I?" He chuckled weakly, wincing as he readjusted the injured limb on the bed. It, along with his wings, didn't hurt too bad most of the time as long as he didn't jostle them around, and he was on pain meds, so they helped. Although, those did make him feel a bit drowsy. Phen glanced again at his 'friend', his mouth twisting into a smile. "He better be." If only Lance knew how.... 'Disobedient' Oriel could be... Phen pursed his lips together to hide a snicker.

His expression sobered, though, at the mention of working his memory. "I... I guess so," he mumbled. He understood how people thought about that, but the fact was, he'd harmed his brain quite a bit over the past however many years he'd been abusing substances, and he had no idea if he was capable of having the sort of memory capacity that he used to. "Um, homework, right," he stammered, hefting himself up off the bed again and hobbling over to his desk, rustling around until he found the sheets of homework that were due in a couple days. "Um, one's on sentence fragments, and the other is verb agreement..." he explained, sitting down again. "I... I don't know how t'start..." How did tutoring work, anyway? Surely he wouldn't just give him the answers...
