Powers: Energy Beam Emission
Can emit energy in the form of thin light/laser beams from various body parts (but normally just a finger at a time). These energy beams either simply emit light (ie yay my fingers are glowing!), or function as lasers (which could have the capacity to harm), depending on the amount of energy used. However, this energy is drawn from the body, and as such, is dependent on and severely leaches the body's energy. In theory, the energy should be able to be emitted from any part of the body, but so far has only been attempted with fingers. Intense concentration is required, causing headaches, and the body is severely drained afterwards, meaning that a substantial amount of sleep is required for this power to function well. She is also constantly hungry, as her body's extremely high metabolism forces her to make up the energy lost. The laser/light emitted is emitted from the body, and must be connected to the body as such (ie, no energy bombs or whatever). These lasers, however, appear to be capable of very little. An enormous amount of effort is used to create even a light, so the laser may only leave a slight burn, or at the very high risk of seriously harming herself, leave as much as a third degree burn.

General Appearance: Although Callista is 15, she doesn't seem it - guesswork would place her age earlier in her teens, due to her relatively unmature looking body. A late bloomer it appears, she still hasn't gained the curves of many other girls her age. Her height is taller than average (5ft7!), and combining that with her lack of fat, she may seem sticklike. However, this skinniness is genetic's gift, rather than dangerous interference from an adolescent brain. Her skin tans, ranging from ridiculously pale to a "normal" color. The blonde hair is either artificially straightened or its natural wavy nature, and quite long, reaching to her chest. The large brown(ish) eyes lend a sense of innocence that permeates her, and her ever present smile provides a reminder of how good life is to even the casual observer.
Personality: Callista is never seen without a smile, and despite the meta-superiority views of her family, has no misconceptions about normal people. When not being social, she greatly enjoys reading and discussing politics, as long as everything stays friendly. Nothing upsets her more than arguments, and although her first instinct may tell her to run away upon encountering a disagreement, she has developed the skill of finding compromises in an attempt to deal with this fear. A thoroughly optimistic person by nature, Callista’s lack of experience with the real world sees the best in everyone, and she has very little understanding of the true nature(s) of humanity. Another issue is her opinion of the unlearned. As someone who greatly values the knowledge she has, she tends to look down on people who concern themselves with other things. Although she would never say anything in fear of creating confrontation, her snobby side does exist.

History
Growing up in family as strict-minded as the Matthews, Callista learned from a very early age about the virtues of respect and er, silence. Her parents never nurtured either her or her brother, and for as long as she can remember, she has had an older, taller boy sticking up for her. She has a fantastic relationship with her brother, and for the majority of her young life, she hasn’t had to fight her own battles. At age 9 she moved to Pine Ridge, leaving behind her best friend Marissa (who she still sees every summer when the family returns to their homeland to visit the rest of the family), as her brother entered puberty and began developing his power. They have lived in Pilot Ridge since.
Her brother's beginning of puberty affected more than just him. As he began to rebel, so too did she (mentally anyway), but more out of awe for him than a genuine dislike for her parents. She eschewed the ideas of meta superiority in favor of the view of equality being espoused by her brother, and although they saw each other much less, she retained her high opinion of him.
However, as Parker shifted out of her parents’ perspectives, Callista entered it, and she began to have to deal with their expectations. She flourished in her home-schooled academics and started swimming as well, forming bonds with her fellow swimmers, and for the most part gained her parents’ approval. However, tenseness started grating between her and them as she entered puberty and didn’t develop her power. As the daughter in a “pure-blooded” meta family, her parents’ expectation of, and thereafter, disappointment at the lack of a power created a great deal of tension in the family, and for several years into adolescence, a very strained relationship between her and her family existed. However, much to everyone’s relief, she very recently (at the very very late age of 15) has begun exhibiting the ability to emit energy, and has eagerly waited for the Institute to come recruit her.
(Old) Roleplay Example
Ebony froze. It seemed the only viable option, seeing as she didn't exactly have a plan specifically for human-like shapes breaking her second-story window. On her balcony... A person on her balcony? Although zhe was shrouded by her blinds, Ebony could mildly make zhim out. Male, assumingly, by the shape of him. What on earth?
As these thoughts rushed through her head at breakneck pace, she felt the usual rush of anger begin coursing through her veins. She (naturally) in no way appreciated having her window broken, and having lived in a dangerous neighborhood most of her life, she more than understood the usual implications of such an interruption to one's life. How dare someone? She had hoped to escape all of that crap after moving.
While her brain engaged itself in thinking these incredibly important thoughts, her body was busy as well. Glancing around the room, she grabbed the closest makeshift weapon, a nearby lamp, holding it defensively, waiting for the man to appear from behind the flimsy blinds that served as a makeshift shield. She was so screwed.
