Body Mod Appreciation (Kelly)

This was starting to become habit, Tak thought. Coming down to the student lounge to work on henna designs, usually on herself, though occasionally a shy student or two would ask what she was doing and be interested in getting one done on themselves. While her reputation around the school made her often want to hide in her room away from the judging eyes and rumors (who really was the father? was she going to get pregnant again?), she swallowed her fear and straightened her back, refusing to let people's opinions determine her behavior. She knew who she was and what she had done, and that was enough.

It was a rather empty evening in the common area, and she had the couch to herself in a quiet corner. She was bent over her bare calf, tracing the terra-cotta colored liquid over her skin in thin, artistic lines, gradually fleshing out the design of a doe and a fawn. Tak hummed quietly to herself as she worked, her long black hair cascading over one shoulder and down into her lap. As per usual, she wasn't wearing a lot - both legs were bare underneath a long, heavy shawl that rested about mid-thigh, one of her shoulders bare with the asymmetrical neckline.

She took a moment to pause in her work, smiling down at the design. It was very nearly done, and looked great. Tak was starting to think she'd get through the entire piece without anyone talking to her, which was fine.... But she also liked (pleasant) company.

Kelly really didn't feel like being in the confines of his room. Lyra was just being herself with her interesting point of view which got hard to argue with but difficult to understand at times. And the other roommates were doing whatever it is they do… He amazingly still had yet to meet them. He didn't feel like going to the art room, it had already seen enough of him for the week. There was no project he was dying to finish either so there really was no reason to head over in the first place.

So, as a solution he made his way down to the first floor of the dorms to see who was lingering down there. Maybe he'd run into someone he knew, or have a nice conversation he just met? Either way it'd just be good to get out of his room for a bit. He rolled up his sleeves as he arrived to the common room. He hated how rooms could vary in temperature so much. During the winter he'd come to live in hoodies and, at times flannel lined, jeans. While this particular hoody was originally a navy blue, it was now a brighter shade all thanks to his power (granted, it'd fade quicker in the wash, but it was totally worth it for lift the dreary mood of winter), and let's not forget that his hair was a fresh deep blue to match.

Kelly scanned the common space of the first floor before deciding where to settle down for a little while. One person caught his curiosity. A girl… Drawing…? On her bare leg? He stepped over to the couch where she sat. The liquid she was putting on her leg left an image of a deer. "Wow, that's good."

He looked up to her face. "What is that… stuff?" He meant the thick liquid, but didn't want to offend or annoy her by calling it 'goop' out of instinct.

Tak had returned to finish up the last of her design and had just done the last hoof on the doe when a voice caught her attention. She looked up quickly, having been so engrossed in her work that she hadn't noticed that anyone had approached her. She realized she'd been complimented, though, and smiled as she replied with a quiet,"Thank you."

She then took a moment to study the person - a very colorful boy, which immediately made her breath catch. His hair was a beautiful shade of blue, which made her gaze linger there before she looked down to his face again. His features were equally pretty, and her smiled widened unconsciously. Pleasant company was one thing; complimenting, attractive company was an entirely different level.

At the question, she finally tore her eyes away, looking back down to the design on her leg, which she had pulled delicately up beside her on the couch. "It's henna," she explained, holding up the half-empty bag of brownish liquid. "You use it to put designs on your skin. It dries after a while, and then you take it off, and it leaves a sort of temporary tattoo on your skin." She held out her forearm, where she had done a design of a flower several days ago. It was just lines of dark brown pigment on her skin now. "It's like getting a tattoo without the commitment," she explained with a smile; though, she had permanent ones as well, one of them being a music note on her currently bare collarbone.

She looked back up at him again, raising a brow. "I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting you," she continued, offering a hand. "I'm Tak." Takchawee was always a little hesitant giving her name to people she didn't know these days; she never knew how people would react to her if they had heard about her history.

Kelly had a moment to get a look at the girl's face while she looked at his. Her features were striking, and her green eyes were strong as they gazed over his own features. Her long dark hair draped across her sun-kissed skin and the graceful design on her leg. She was truly stunning in Kelly's eyes, and a smile spread across his lips as well.

Henna. The word sounded at least little familiar. Girls maybe wearing it on their arms or people just discussing? Either way it was an interesting idea for temporary body art. The designs the girl showed him on her skin were simple but still lovely. "That sounds much more convenient." He didn't have anything against tattoos, but felt that for him to get a permanent one it'd really have to be important to him. Otherwise he just stuck to drawing on his arms in pen.

"I'm Kelly." The Canadian shook her hand with the introduction, "pleased to meet you." Tak. That name was mentioned once or twice by little circles of people as Kelly passed by, but until now he didn't really care. Now he had a pretty face to the name. "Do you do this henna stuff often?"

Tak's eyes lingered on Kelly's a moment longer than probably necessary before she looked away again with a smile. "It's definitely convenient," she agreed, tilting her arm to study her earlier design. "Not only can you create design after design on the same area of skin after the last one fades, but it's helpful to see if you'd like a real tattoo somewhere before you actually get one." She'd used it to choose her own permanent designs, and she hadn't regretted it since.

"Kelly," Tak repeated, her lips curled up into something pleasant. "That's a nice name for a nice-looking boy." She waited for some sort of reaction to her own name, perhaps distaste or revulsion at the stories surrounding her, but Tak was pleased to see he seemed completely unaffected. It was a breath of fresh air. "Oh, yeah, all the time," she nodded, shifting a little where she sat. "I pretty much have at least one on me all the time," she laughed quietly. Tak paused, then held out her hand that still held the squeeze bag of henna. "Would you like one? I can make less... Feminine designs if you'd like," she smiled. Through her ability, she knew he was an artist, and quite kind-hearted; both traits that made her want to learn more about him without her ability.

Kelly could only smile. Even as she spoke of tattoos, one stayed across his lips. Her logic about henna as a thumbnail sketch for a tattoo made sense. Kelly might end up giving it a try before he ever gets one. The last thing he'd want was a tattoo he'd regret.

He nodded as she said his name. If she made a crack about his name being female, his attraction for her would plummet. But to his surprise he got a couple of compliments in one comment. This warmed his cheeks a little, and he wasn't too sure if he was blushing a bit. He figured he probably was. "Thank you."

"Huh, neat." So she was a henna sort of person. Kind of like how Kelly was a rainbow hair sort of person. "Oh, sure." He never had henna before, but that wasn't going to stop him. He was willing to try different forms of body art. Kelly sat down beside her, and looked back up at her face.

Tak held back a smile as she noticed the blush touch Kelly's cheeks; so, he was a bit shy in that department. That was perfectly fine. She just made a note to herself not to be too forward in any flirting that might go on between them. She didn't want to scare him off, and she knew she could be a little... Intimidating if she said or did too much. She just nodded at his thanks, smiling brightly.

As he agreed to let her put the henna on his skin, Tak shifted back a little so he had room, careful not to bump the wet design on her calf. Her shawl dropped a little and she tugged it back up, pulling her hair forward again as she held out a hand to take Kelly's forearm. "May I?" she asked, motioning to roll up the sleeve of his jacket. Assuming he gave the okay, she pushed the cloth up to get access to his skin.

At the contact, her ability started feeding her more information - he felt almost... Maternal, in a way, which was sort of unexpected, but far from unpleasant. She glanced up at him then, catching his dark eyes with her light ones, and smiled. "Do you have a favorite animal, or any idea of a sort of design you'd like?" she asked. Tak continued to hold his wrist gently in her hand, the bag of henna gripped loosely in her other. "Otherwise, I feel like an otter might suit you." Just as the doe suited herself.

Kelly was totally against flirting. If someone was very openly flirting, he'd probably just flirt right back. Depends on if they peeked his interest. And Tak definitely someone who caught his attention."

"Sure." He nodded, letting her roll his sleeve up his arm. He watched her, and their eyes met. The corners of his mouth curved up. She really was a striking young woman. "You can put what you think fits. Artistic freedom is yours." He didn't have any design in particular he wanted. For the first time he just wanted to see how it worked.

The idea of an otter seemed a little unexpected, but he didn't hate the creatures. "An otter works for me." Kelly had to wonder, though, how Tak came up with an otter. Was it one of those things that fit with a person's personality? Still, he trusted her with it. Even if she messed it up on purpose for whatever reason she may have, it was temporary and he could cover it up.

Tak smiled at his willingness to do as she pleased, tilting her head to the left and right as she imagined what sort of design would look best. "Are you an artist, Kelly?" she asked curiously, though she had already picked up the answer herself - she just didn't want to seem like a creep. "I'm always looking for people who are. It's a talent that I very much appreciate." Her thumb brushed down his wrist, and her lip quirked, gently turning Kelly's forearm so it rested against her knee and gave her a stable platform to work on.

She nodded as he agreed, and set the tip of the bag of henna against his arm, beginning to trace a line with the brown-colored liquid. "It tickles," she warned with a smile, creating a long, curved line up the inside of his forearm before going in and adding some details. It was hard to tell what it was at first, but soon enough the face began to appear in the lines. Tak liked to talk while she worked, though, so she asked,"So, Kelly... Where have you been all my life?" It was a playful, rhetorical question that was given with a flirtatious glance up and a smirk, before she focused on her work again. "I mean... I can't believe a gorgeous boy like yourself stayed out of my radar for so long." That, at least, was true; she wondered why she'd never approached him before.

Kelly nodded to her. "Yeah. It's one of the few classes I'm good at." Well, he could be passing classes effortlessly if he put more effort into them and less into his art. Like that was going to happen soon. He was perfectly happy with getting an eighty-seven in history.

The dark liquid Tak started to draw on his arm with felt cool against his skin. "I think I can contain myself." It did have a soft tickle to it, but nothing that would make Kelly burst out giggling. He watched as the brown lines developed into the face of an otter. It was interesting to watch it come together.

He looked up at Tak. "Eh, up North for about thirteen years of that time. The rest of that time I've been here." He gave her a toothy smile. But his cheeks warmed again a little at the sound of being called gorgeous. Shrugging, careful not to jolt the arm Tak was working on, Kelly couldn't really say. If anything about him caught someone's attention it was his currently blue bright hair. That had more than once been a reason someone's approached him. "I dunno. I'm not usually one to fly under the radar. But I can't really say I've seen your stunning face around before."

Tak nodded, curiosity perked. "What's your favorite medium? Pencil, paint, chalk...?" None of this really mattered all that much, but she was interested in learning more about him, and one could learn a lot from an artist's style. "I'm more into body art than anything else," she added,"though, that's probably obvious." She smiled again as she worked on his arm. "I might go get another tattoo soon, actually." A permanent one.

"Alright," she replied with a small laugh. "It irritates skin sometimes, but it's not common. Let me know if it starts itching too bad, though." Tak supposed she should have said something about that beforehand, but she wasn't too worried about it.

She finished up the face and moved down to the body, beginning more longer, swirling lines. Tak gave a glance up as he spoke about where he'd been, nodding curiously. "Canada, then?" Interesting. "I'm from Montana myself," she responded conversationally. "Lived in an Indian reservation." It had been a hard way to live sometimes, but her family didn't have much choice. At his later response, she gave a wide smile, pausing to look up at him for a longer moment. "I've been gone since... earlier this year," she told him. "Had some... Things I needed to take care of." If he was unaware of her pregnancy in the first half of the year, she wasn't going to bring it up just yet. "But thank you." She blinked slowly and returned to her work, which was coming along nicely. "You have a girlfriend?" If he didn't, she would consider him fair game - though the flirting was an obvious enough indication. Even if she wasn't necessarily looking for a relationship right now, she still liked to play around.
