"I am absolutely CERTAIN that I gave you my essay!"

The history teacher sneezed twice before replying to George's angry retort, "Well, George," he gave one final, tremendous sneeze, "'Scuse me! Sorry, as I was saying, George you defintely gave me something in that lesson, but it wasn't your essay."

George growled slightly. Yes, she had accidently-on-purpose sneezed on h during that lesson, but he picked on her! It wasn't fair. "I gave you my essay; I don't forget things! Maybe you used it as a fucking tissue or something..."

The teacher gasped ever-so-slighty, "Miss. Speer, I don't agree with the use of that language. Now, I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt and let you give it to me tomorrow, but now I believe consequences are necessary."

George slammed the door behind her as she left her history classroom. She had worked so bloody hard on that damn essay, and now her STUPID shithead teacher was going to dock points for something that was HIS FAULT! And this was a QUARTER of her grade! George wasn't particularly a fan of history, but she was a fan of achieving good grades, and this was quite the opposite.

She stomped up to her dorm room and slammed the door open to find... the essay on the floor by her door. She stared at the sheets of paper for a few seconds in silence, only the sound of her breathing could be heard. She was so tempted to rip it up there and then, but she knew that would just make matters worse. She kicked a shoe and went down to the dorm first floor. She fished out some change from her pocket and bought a can of coke from one of the vending machines, before sliding her back down a nearby wall, as she opened the tab.

Could this day possibly get any worse?

Like George, Kodi wasn't having all that great of a day. The day before, he'd gotten into a fight and had ended up storming off only to sit on a fucking nail, which had led to Benton dragging him off to get a fucking tetanus shot at the nurse's office. He's nearly bit the lady giving it to him, because he was convinced she made it as painful as possible on purpose. He still had a bandage wrapped around his arm where he'd received the shot.

That already made him in a bad mood today - and made him more likely to snap at people, which he had. He'd gotten detention from one of his teachers for talking back (for the thousandth time), had nearly gotten into another fistfight with someone at lunch, and had ended up skipping his last couple classes. In fact, he was finally heading back to his room now after having spent the last couple hours locked up in the library, away from where people could bother him, with his nose stuffed in a book about the bombing of Hiroshima.

Reading about violent things made him feel a little better. But he was still pissed.

So by the time he stomped into the first floor of the dorms on his way up to his room, he was riled and ready to attack anyone that bothered him. Or even someone that wasn't bothering him and just happened to be in his line of vision. And the girl sitting against a nearby wall with a can of soda in her hand was just close enough to irk him.

"The fuck's yer problem, bitch?" he growled, stopping as he started to pass by her. She looked upset, which made Kodi sneer. Girls and their stupid emotions. "Boyfriend break up with ya or somethin'?" Stupid stupid. It was probably something petty like that, though. He had no idea who this chick was, but she was a good enough target for his anger as any.

How could she have been so ignorant? She was so annoyed with herself, as she took a swig of the dark fizzy liquid. Loud footsteps grabbed her attention and she looked towards the owner of the heavy feet, and her eyes met the face of a guy with eyeliner, who proceeded to cuss at her.

"Excuse me?" She stood straight up as quickly as possible, and stared him in the face, a growl hovering in her throat. She listened to him again; God, his voice was annoying, but couldn't believe what he said. "No, but I have a reason to be upset which isn't petty, unlike you, it seems! Is it your day job to be a pissy man-bitch to everyone you meet?"

She really wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone today; her irritation was slowly growing with every word he spoke, every breath he took. She leaned back a little and drunk some more coke, looking him up and down. He just looked like an over energized pixie boy with anger issues to her. Really stupid looking and silly.

Ah, there was a nice reaction. Kodi's lips twisted up in a cruel sneer as George retorted at him. "You heard me." Yes, he knew he shouldn't do this. Yes, he knew he'd likely get more detention if this turned into some sort of fight. But already his fingers were itching for something to grab; for now, he'd stick to his words instead. Those could be hurtful enough; and his natural drawl made everything sound more cruel.

"Fuck off, whore. Ya have no idea what shit I've been through today." Just like every other day. He should be used to it by now, really. He rubbed the crook of his arm, which was bare, where the bandage was wrapped around; a purplish bruise could be seen on his jawline from some fight he didn't even remember the cause of.

Kodi stood motionless as she eyed him, his gaze narrowed and judging. "Whatchu lookin' at me like that for?" he snarled. On instinct, his teeth sharpened, which he bared in a sneer. "Be careful whatchu answer, 'else I might decide t'rearrange that ugly mug of yours."

This did not seem good. First off, this guy was bandaged, and bruised and obviously had a rough attitude. He was mean-spirited it seemed and harsh. Not the kind of person George liked to be around, and even though she honestly wasn't in the mood to have to deal with anyone today, there was something about him that irked her to fight for her side. The fact that he seemed to view her as the scum of the Earth was probably in there somewhere.

George's eyes widened in pure anger at his words. The shit he'd been through? Was he joking? "Yeah, and nor do you about me. Get a grip, Mr. High and Mighty, you're not the only one in existence here." She shook her head in disbelief of this guy, who did he think he was anyway? Anyone can growl and grump and make grizzly facial expressions, it doesn't make them any better than anyone else. She put her half-full can of coke on a nearby table and returned to face him.

Her eyes automatically rolled at his threat, it would intimidate many, but George just saw a weak come-back. The thing that shocked her slightly was the sudden appearance of fangs instead of normal teeth. She shuddered ever-so slightly before replying, "Oh, no reason," She shrugged her shoulders and crossed her arms, "Just wondering why an," she made bunny ear speech marks with her hands, "'intimidating guy', would need to wear girl's makeup."

The fact that this girl was hanging around and sticking up for herself rather than running off crying actually impressed Kodi somewhere deep down, but his face didn't show it. He had no respect for girls that couldn't deal with a little cruelty; he saw them as weak and pathetic. Kodi was interested in seeing how much this chick could take.

His head tilted and eyes narrowed as she spoke up again, until he let out a loud, slightly maniacal laugh at what she was saying. "Yeah, but I ain't care 'bout other people's shit. Got enough of my own t'worry 'bout, why would I care 'bout some random ugly bitch an' her pathetic little problems?" Kodi's gotten closer over the course of time that they'd been 'talking', and so when George sat her coke down, he lashed out and sent it and its contents flying over the floor, just for spite. It felt good.

Kodi saw the reaction, however small, to the appearance of his teeth, and smiled, letting them elongate even more until they jutted out over his bottom lip. It hurt like hell - his teeth felt on fire - but it was worth it. He was planning on just using them for show until George spoke up again. At that moment, Kodi snapped, both mentally and literally - at the girl's face. His teeth closed just centimeters away from George's nose. "Shut yer mouth, you piece'a shit. I wasn't kiddin' 'bout messin' up yer face." He continued to leer at her from only inches away, hackled up and growling. "I ain't above hittin' girls, 'specially pathetic little nobodies that think their problems're more important than others."

She breathed out a little laugh and shook her head again, this guy thought he was something to be reckoned with, what an ass. And that was the second time he'd used the word 'ugly', he wasn't exactly being creative with his insults. She was minorly glad that this 'conversation' had kind of taken her mind off of her situation, but it wasn't the best thing to be doing. The last time she fought with someone... weeks of detention ensued. Not fun at all. She clapped her hands together, "Now you know what I mean, I don't care about your problems either! But, I think on of your problems is a lack of education; there are other words to use in place of ugly, possibly grotesque, unsightly or hideous?" Those words sounded particularly British, and accentuated her accent quite a lot when she spoke them, but that was her point in saying them anyway.

She jerked autonomously when he knocked her can off of the nearby table; some of it splashed onto her shoes. She looked up to him and he was a lot closer than before. Now she was a lot more uncomfortable, and that was obviously through her breathing, but she showed a strong face and tried to stay calm. This guy couldn't hurt her that much anyway... right? He began talking trash again, and she tried to show off her confidence, purposefully rolling her eyes this time and putting her hands on her hips. His growl quickened her heart beat, which tried to push her away, but she stayed firm, partially from pride... but also because she was scared stiff. She sighed before daring herself to look directly into his eyes, "There you go again, making yourself seem better than others! Geez, who do you think you are, pixie?" She put a hand on his chest and pushed him a little, and then... she mustered up all the confidence and bravery she could...

...and spat at his face.

Kodi, unbeknownst to... Everyone, really, was actually quite the book nerd, and thus had a very broad vocabulary. To hide his bookwormish nature, he purposefully dumbed down his speech and deepened his natural southern drawl, much preferring to sound harsh and feral over educated. "Great, so we have some sort'a understandin'," he growled, upper lip still curled. At the latter part of her insult, he rolled his eyes, letting out a rather high-pitched laugh. He couldn't let that slip without filling in his own. "Ya think yer so smart, huh? You revoltin', unprepossessin' hussy." His breath was ragged now; something about this conversation was really getting to him; that sharp little accent of hers didn't help matters.

He was, however, again impressed that she didn't step back when he snapped in; she had a lot more backbone than he would have imagined. It made Kodi even more riled up. However, if she could hear the intentions in his head... Maybe she wouldn't have been so bold. Kodi was definitely a bluffer, but if pushed far enough, he wasn't against hitting anyone, regardless of gender. "Pixie?" he giggled maniacally, a spark of some sort of dark intention behind his eyes. "Phoenix's a fuckin' pixie, I'm yer worst fuckin' nightmare." He snarled again, debating between more verbal abuse or actual violence, when George.... Made the decision for him. He flinched back and hissed as the spittle hit his face, his features twisting into a dark rage. "You little-!" He snapped. Hardly thinking, he balled his hand and threw it out, hoping to catch the bitch in the jaw. He didn't hit with his full strength - he didn't want to kill her - but he hoped to at least leave some sort of bruise that would remind her not to fuck with him in the future.

George honestly had no idea what she was getting herself into. She didn't want to back down and run away, or cower and beg for mercy. She was too strong for that, had too much pride. She was half-amused by the whole conversation, at the same time as being scared shitless. She raised her eyebrows at his choice of words; so he didn't need a dictionary for Christmas! Some coal would do, in any case. However, something in his manner was frightening her even more, his harsh breathing was like that of a wild animal, waiting to go in for the kill. She continued to keep up her, what was now, an 'act'. She raised her eyebrows and her mouth formed an "O" shape, "Oh, so I'm mistaken then! I apologize for that at least."

She wasn't too angry to begin with, after his first sentence, just mainly scared and irritated by his existence, but as soon as he mentioned Phen... shit just got worse. Rage flared up inside her like a volcano about to erupt, her jaw tightened, eyes widened and fists clenched, "Leave Phen out of this." She practically ignored the comment about being a nightmare, she was too distracted. But all that rage, all her confidence died the second his fist was raised. Without enough time to react except to turn white with fear, his fist collided with her jaw and sent her back a bit, making her head hit the wall. She shook a little from the impact and touched her jaw tentatively; a sharp pain ran through the area like electricity.

After a few seconds of being a bit out of it, she recovered, and so did her anger, but now... she was ragingly mad. So, she followed suit, her tight fist flying straight into the source of all the bullshit: his mouth. She wasn't huge on physical combat, but she was pretty strong in the arms, from helping her mum with deliveries at the Day Care, and having to carry her luggage around every time she went home. She didn't know how hard it would hit, and she knew it definitely wouldn't help matters, but she felt like she had no other option. Her head throbbed, so she put a hand to the spot where it had smashed against the wall, and through stiff teeth, she spoke, "I hope God makes you burn in hell."

Kodi was a very disturbed, strange person. As much as he was yelling and threatening George, the more she stood up for herself, the more respect he had for her. It didn't mean he was going to give her any slack - he was still pissed and looking for a fight - but it was in the back of his head. Not that it would do George any good. Her apology just made him sneer; he had no idea how sarcastic she was being, and therefore chose to ignore it.

He also didn't know that she knew Phoenix, the stupid little Korean boy. That was just fire to his attack, and he snickered at her response. "Why, ya have a soft spot for him? You like him?" He'd be sure to say something to Oriel sometime just to mess with the trio even more. Kodi got a thrill out of stirring shit up. By then, though, he was only thinking about getting his anger out at the world, and the quickest way to do that was through the physical. His knuckles throbbed as they connected with George's jaw, but it sent a sick satisfaction through Kodi; he didn't care about who might see and what the consequences were. He gave a small, smug smile as her head connected to the wall. "That's what ya get for spittin' on me, bitch."

What he didn't expect was for her to fight back. He thought one punch would do it. Kodi was busy studying his aching hand when the collision came, and, as he was so unprepared, his head snapped back as she bashed into his mouth. His teeth sunk into flesh, but rather than being George's, he yowled as he pierced his own lip several times over. His teeth immediately retracted back to their normal dullness as he clutched his mouth, which was dripping blood rather rapidly onto the floor. "You-!" He gurgled out something unintelligible, spitting crimson onto the floor. The comment about burning in hell hit much harder than George probably expected. Having grown up in a religious home that raged against homosexuality, meta-humans, and other sins that Kodi committed, he already knew he was going to be in eternal agony when he died. "You don't need t' hope for that," he hissed, shoulders hunched as he held a hand against his lips and stared at the floor. "But I hope I see you there, too." He looked up then, his gaze smoldering with rage, and something deeper, a sort of horror and self-hatred that George likely wouldn't notice. The fight had left him; he felt like a shell.

Respect a word George handed out tentatively, to few and for good reason. Sometimes, like in Phen's case, there would just be something about them, who they were or what they did which earned their respect from George, and in some other people's cases, respect was something that had to be grown with love and nurtured constantly. But Kodi? George had no respect for Kodi what-so-fucking-ever. And she highly doubted that she ever would. He was contemptuous and despicable, undeserving of any sort of respect from George in the slightest.

She puffed out a hoarse laugh, honestly? He was stooping to the level of children's taunts? How pathetic of the scumbag. "Well, the thing is, I like good people, and Phen is a good person, whereas you?" She looked him up and down and scowled, smirking darkly at him, "Need I say more?"

She moved her jaw carefully and every millimeter of movement felt like a dagger being turned in her face. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to avoid showing any sign of weakness. That was the last thing she wanted to do around this guy. He definitely deserved what came to him, it was her turn to be smug now.

If only for a second.

The second she saw the dripping crimson, she froze. George... had never been that good with blood. She was fine with small scrapes, but the more there was, the worse she felt. She watched Kodi retract back, holding onto his lip as if his life depended on it. The blood dripped through his fingers and fell onto the floor; this was not good. She felt the colour leave her face again and she felt dizzy. She put a hand against the back wall to steady herself and not fall over. His words sounded contorted, but understandable. George may not have been the most religious girl in the world, but she still believed in the basic fundamentals of Christianity. And she didn't believe she would go to hell, but all George could do about that was raise her eyebrows slightly, she was too out of it to do anything else.

The room span a little, the floor tilted and it felt like torture. Her other hand clamped itself to her face, trying to wake her up from her almost-trance like state. To him, she probably looked slightly tipsy, but to her, the world was fucking with her head. His eyes frightened her immensely once she caught sight of them and cut through her's and into her mind. The whole catastrophe just felt like a nightmare that wouldn't ever end.

Phoenix was a good person. Unlike Kodi. Sure, okay, that was true now. But he wondered if George knew about what the pixie was like before he kicked his drug habit. "How d'you know he's such a good person?" he snarled. "Have ya asked 'im 'bout all the people he shit on an' abused? How many different types'a drugs he's experimented with in 'is life?" Of course, Kodi didn't know the details either, but he knew enough. He had no idea if his words would affect this bitch at all, but there were plenty of things he could do to hurt her more. Like go after Phen himself...

Only... He and Oriel had sort of come to an understanding. Kodi wouldn't mess with Phoenix, and they could tolerate each other. Hell, they'd finally been able to hook up with Phen's permission. Did Kodi really want to ruin that so quickly over something so petty?

Of course, due to the nature of Kodi's ability, he'd bitten his lips several times in his life, sometimes on accident, sometimes through fights. It wasn't the first time. Hell, he'd considered getting piercings there just for the hell of it. So the blood didn't bother him all that much, and he knew the pain would subside. He pulled back his hand and studied it, ignoring George for the moment as he watched the liquid drip from his fingers. It was only after a few moments that he noticed how nauseous the girl looked, and a small spark of something lit up in him again. He grinned smugly and growled. All talk of Hell slipped from his mind as the blood lust grew in him.

"What's the matter? Ain't seen a bit'a blood before?" he taunted, flicking his fingers towards the floor. His chin was pretty well covered by the stuff at this point. "You shouldn't try t'fight back 'less yer willin' t'deal with the consequences." Snarling, he hackled up and spit at her, much like she had earlier, aiming to land the bloodied spittle somewhere on her. "Pathetic. Worthless. Waste of fuckin' breath." He didn't even know what he was trying to do now; but he was an inch away from launching himself at her and biting her neck, even if he was too tired to make his teeth any sharper than they were normally. He'd manage.

This was why she didn't want Phen brought into the conversation.

In her eyes, Phoenix was practically a picture of perfect innocence, so her face twisted whilst conflicting thoughts ran through her mind like wild fire, but then she remembered something.

Kodi couldn't be trusted.

She seemed to be acting more like him by the second; sneering, growling, acting intimidating... that wasn't like the regular George. All the same, a practically mirrored sneer stolen from Kodi's features was slapped onto her face, "Really? ...really? It sounds to me more like you're talking about yourself!" She swiped on a sarcastically sympathetic face and squeezed all of the syrupy sarcasm she could get into her next sentence, "Do you have problems..." she stopped and her face scrunched up from a lack of knowledge. Who the fuck was this guy? "...whoever the hell you are?"

George had a few mottos that she followed in life: 'Carpe Diem', 'it's good to be strange, normalness leads to sadness'... 'never regret anything', but in the here and now, she was regretting her actions so much. She wasn't going to apologize, but... she had thrown herself into a terrible situation.

Her knuckles throbbed from colliding with his teeth; her head flickered with a constant numb pain and her jaw was still in agony.

She tried to ignore the blood that dropped from Kodi's mouth, that devil's elixir, but instead... she couldn't respond, her ego and remaining confidence had fallen to the floor and smashed into a million pieces. She just heard words, words she recognized, but at the same time couldn't make sense of.

She felt something warm and wet hit her cheek. She touched it and brought the liquid into her line of vision.

More blood.

And all she could hear were his words echoing around in her head.

'Pathetic.'

'Worthless.'

'Waste of fuckin' breath.'

She was physically shivering from fear, cowering ever so slightly, not daring to look up at all. She gulped. Her mind shouted the words at her, tormenting her.

'YOU'RE PATHETIC!'

'YOU'RE WORTHLESS!'

'I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN HELL!'

She whimpered like a little frightened dog, covering her ears gently,

"You d-d-d-don't f-fucking s-s-scare me." She didn't know where the words care from. Her words seemed automatic, if a little shaken. "I'm n-not fucking s-s-s-scared of y-you, n-nor will I-I ever b-b-b-be."

It sounds to me like you're talking about yourself! Kodi sneered again, his features twisted into something cruel, and clenched his teeth. "Trust me, I'm far worse than that pathetic excuse for a human bein'," he hissed. Even if Phoenix had been a sort of bully in the past, as far as Kodi knew, he wasn't nearly as violent. "An' I thought we agreed that we didn't care 'bout each others' problems." He had more problems than he knew what to do with. It wasn't an excuse, but it was the reason for why he acted the way he did. And he didn't offer his name.

As for Kodi, he knew he'd probably regret this later. Who knew what his punishments would be this time? Surely more time stuck on Hammel grounds, maybe a power suppressor around... Whatever. It felt good in the moment. He vaguely wondered if someone (perhaps a friend of George's, or even Oriel if he found out about what he'd done to a girl and said about Phoenix?) would come after him for revenge, too? Whatever. He'd deal with that when it came.

In his dark, twisted mindset, the pain in his face was all but forgotten, the puddle he was creating on the floor ignored as he just breathed harshly and tried to decide what to do next. He could tell that the girl was finally reaching her limit; it was about damn time. He hardly ever had to work this hard to get to someone. George was shivering and shying away, which just made Kodi puff up as he gloated.

"I could hurt you so much more," he growled, leaning in so his bloodied mouth was just inches from George's. He lowered his face and opened his mouth, just barely touching the skin of her neck with his canines before he retracted back just an inch. "I don't believe you," he said quietly in response to her stammering. "An' yer not worth my fuckin' time anymore, you useless piece'a shit." Kodi knew if he kept going, he risked permanent damage, and even he wasn't that cruel to a stranger. "Go lock yerself away an' hide, otherwise I might change my mind." Determining his work to be done, Kodi wiped at his chin again, staring at the blood before smearing it against George's neck where he'd almost sunk his teeth in, and turned to leave.

Everytime.

Everytime an insult about Phen flew out of Kodi's mouth, her anger flared. A pathetic excuse for a human being? She was audibly growling by that point, if she was a lion, she would've been bearing her teeth and roaring in his face. It was a shame she wasn't a big cat, she very much wanted to bite his head off in that moment. And she left the problem issue on the air, she didn't give a fuck about him in any case.

George was a lucky one, many girls her age were insecure, and not able to stand up for themselves, but George had bucket loads of self esteem, and a slightly arrogant confidence that held her up high on a pedestal of happiness. Kodi... was the bulldozer. Suddenly, for probably the first time in her life, she fell to the cold hard ground, and she didn't like it but... she couldn't do a single fucking thing about it.

A whimper squeaked out of her vocal chords as he inched towards her neck. She didn't want this. She prayed to God that he wouldn't cause her any more damage -wasn't she tortured enough? She was shaking like a Lamb when... he pulled away. But... there was still a tension left in her stomach that she couldn't ignore, like... like... she couldn't pinpoint the feeling, but it was mixed with dread and fear.

He touched her neck and she squirmed, but stayed frozen on the spot, letting him fuck with her head. He turned and she broke down, practically collapsing onto the floor and breaking into tears. The sobs shook her like an earthquake and racked her body; she didn't care if he was still there, and could see her.

He already knew she was weak.

She had nothing to hide from him anymore.
