The BasicsName: Angitia Nagendra
Nicknames: Angie
Age:
Fourteen
Orientation: Biromantic Asexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Shapeshifting (snakes); Super Enhanced Perception ("taste")
Angie has the ability to shift in the form of a snake. As her abilities have only recently manifested, she can only take the form of the Corn Snake that her welfare officer keeps as a pet in his office. With training and research she would be able to shift into form of other breeds, as to be able to take the form of a type of snake, she needs to have had some form of contact with it. Shifting is a rather painful process for her and she can only maintain the form for minutes at a time at this stage. After a shift, for a couple of days after, she remains cold blooded, which means in cooler temperatures, she suffers from extreme lethargy. Her skin also remains dry and for the same time she retains the cold blooded nature of a snake, she is prone to molting, having large patches of skin shed off. As the shift back into human means that she is returning to what is coded for in her DNA, Angie is unable to retain any piercings, tattoos or scars that she may have gain between shifts.
Angie also has the ability, like a snake, to smell and taste the air around her. While she retains the usual human senses of taste and smell, she can override these with conscious effort, allowing her to use her tongue to rely information about her surroundings. This sense of "taste" is stronger than her normal senses, however by using it, for hours after, she is unable to use her normal senses, even if she is no longer using the enhanced sense. Reliance on this sense can also give her migraines as it means her brain has to process the information differently. They get especially bad if she attempts to use her normal senses soon after.

General Appearance: Angie is a girl who is comfortable in her own skin, which ever one she is wearing. She refuses to let anyone tell her how she should dress and how she should maintain her appearance. Although, she may state outwardly that she doesn't care how people perceive her, she does in fact try hard to project a tough look, as a why of stopping anyone from trying to get the better of her. She also prefers to wear baggy comfortable clothing, mostly because it is easier to move and fight in, but also because it disguises the fact that she slowly looking more and more feminine.
For a girl who is prone to frequent growth spurts, Angie is very sure in her movements. Being sure footed and quick is a necessity in the community she grew up in, especially if you want to stay safe. She works hard to make sure everything she does shows an aura of confidence, because anything less would be a weakness, making it easy for her to be exploited by others.
Personality: A kid of the streets, outwardly Angie seems tough and unforgiving. All of this is second skin she wears to protect herself. In reality, she is a sweet natured girl who hopes to leave the lower classes that she was born in and make a name for herself. To world, she tries to appear as if she doesn't care, because caring too much for anything is a sign of weakness.
Angie is slow to trust, and so to the majority of people, she keeps up her tough persona. She refuses to let anyone in, as they could have the potential to hurt her emotionally or physically. She feels that the only person she needs to trust is herself. The only people who see the softer side of Angie, are the very few she lets in and for those select few, Angie would do anything to protect them. It is the only time her tough exterior and softer interior merge. Yet the need to fight to protect herself and those she loves, Angie hates the life she has and hates the person she has to be to survive it.
When she's alone, Angie, likes to read. It a love that she will never anyone know. Reading allows her to escape from the world she finds herself in and makes it more bearable. If she wasn't so paranoid about those she associates with finding out she would be constantly borrowing books from her school library. All her the books she reads are ones that she are leant to her by her Welfare Officer, one of the only people who she lets see her true self.Your VicesLikes:

Any Other Important People: Her Welfare Officer Graham.HistoryAngie was not a wanted child. Her conception was the result of a one night stand and so she and her mother have no idea who her father is. As a result, Clementine neglects Angie most of the time. Clementine feels that because she decided to keep Angie, everything she ever hoped to do was no longer viable. In a sense, Clementine gave up on life, which is why they found themselves living in the lowest class of society in government housing.
For the area she grew up in Angie had a rather normal childhood. Like many of the kids in her housing project, she had Welfare Officer keeping tabs on her to make sure her mother was actually taking care of her and that she was happy. Graham was - and still is - the one person in Angie's life who has given her hope that she might be able to rise above the legacy of her birth to become something great. He was the one who helped her indulge in love of books and escapism, something which helped keep her off the street and away from the more violent of the other children who lived in the area.
At thirteen, Angie realised that she was sometimes able to smell things by taste rather than with her nose. It was a strange sensation at first, but eventually she came to enjoy her heightened senses. Often applauded by migraines, she didn't associate them, with her constant use of her new sense. She also didn't tell anyone about it, not wanting them to think that she was weird or a freak. Anything that made someone different was a cause for judgement and vindication. It wasn't until a year later that she shifted for the first time. It happened when she was running from one of the more violent boys leaving in her building. He'd found one of her books and was teasing her about it, she'd gone and punched him in the nose and then fun, causing a chase. Coming to a dead end with no where to hide, Angie panicked. Suddenly she felt an intense pain and felt herself shrinking. She didn't quite realise what had happened, but all she knew was that she was able to hide in the vent close to the floor. Luckily for her, the boy left and she was able to leave the vent minutes before she shifted bak to human form. With peeling skin and extreme lethargy as it was winter, Angie made her way home, confused by what had happened.
Eventually Angie came to understand what she was able to do, but she told no one not even Graham, who she usually trusted. The fear of those around her finding out exactly what she could do was stopped her from even telling those she trusted. It wasn't until Graham notice her lethargy and peeling skin did he force her to a doctor, who immediately recognised Angie as a meta, which was then confirmed with a blood test. Not long after she was moved to the Hammel Institute to learn to control her abilities.Roleplay ExampleSitting in the corner furthest away from the bars the held her in, Lexi had curled herself up into the smallest ball possible. Her arms were wrapped around her legs, head cushioned on her knees and hair blocking her face from outside view. She wanted to make herself invisible. She didn’t want to be seen at all by anyone. That hadn’t stopped various members of the MLE and Wizengamot from coming past to discuss this, that and the other with her. What more was there to talk about. She had killed her muggle mother. Manslaughter, they said it was. She had confessed, which meant leniency. Nothing more than time in the Holding Cells as the trial was conducted. All of that did nothing to ease her mind. Nothing could erase what she had done, accident or not.
The announcement from the guard that she had a visitor, at first did nothing. Lexi stayed in her curled up position, reluctant to make any contact with the outside world. It was probably just another lawyer or Investigator or Interrogator. She just didn’t want to deal with them, but knowing that they wouldn’t got away until they could some response from her, even if it was just to acknowledge that they were there, she slowly raised her head to look at who it was.
Having her husband see her locked away in a cell was almost more than Lexi could bare. The tears which she’d been holding back, suddenly all came at once. “I’m sorry Wes,” was all she was able to get between sobs. She didn't move from where she was curled up. All she wanted was to let her husband embrace her, to feel his warmth and comfort and let it ease the pain she was feeling. Even just a reassuring touch would do, as he would not be allowed to cross the bars that seperated them. But she didn't. Another, more insistent, part of her mind was telling her she did not deserve sympathy for what she had done. That she should suffer alone. What About You?Name: Nikki
