General Appearance: Lyn and Sansa are identical twins. Their face is the same, with a nose they don't think is small enough and big, brown eyes. They're the same height, 5'5", and are slim. But the similarities end there. Even someone who has only met them once would have an easy time remembering which one is which.
Lyn, in general, looks neater. She keeps her hair shoulder-length, and prefers to straighten it, or at least keep it under more control than her sister. She likes dressing up, and when given a choice, she will always choose a skirt over jeans. She has poor posture and tends to hunch over and look away from people, even when she is talking to them.
Sansa, on the other hand, could care less about how she looks, though it would take an amount of effort she is not able to conjure. Her hair is long and massively curly, though she usually keeps it pulled back into a ponytail. Her daily uniform includes jeans, sneakers, a tee-shirt that she might have pulled from the boy's section of the store, and a hoodie. She has better posture than her sister, but only marginally.
Personality: This one is a little harder, because while they have different personalities, that is slowly changing. Sansa is starting to be affected by Lyn's insecurities and anxiety. Lyn, on the other hand, is absorbing Sansa's ability to multitask.
In general, though, Sansa is more outgoing than her sister. Even before they started to synch, Sansa frequently spoke for her sister. Lyn's disability sometimes makes it difficult for her to express herself, but the years that Sansa has lived with her has given her insight on what her sister is feeling. Now that she is actually starting to feel Lyn's sensory input as well, she's taken on that role even more. When someone speaks to the girls, Sansa almost always answers for both of them now.
Sansa is fiercely protective of Lyn, and always has been. She is also stubborn, pushy, and the kind of person who deliberately undermines authority. The surest way to get her to do something is to tell her that she cannot. She can be manipulative, and is willing to use peer pressure to get friends to follow her lead. Despite this, she is a loyal friend and almost as protective of those close to her as she is of her sister. Almost. Sansa is passionate about bullying, and is willing to jump in to protect someone she thinks is being victimized.
Lyn, on the other hand, is a quiet girl. Her sister jumps into things, but she prefers to process everything before she acts. This is hard for her, however, because she has learning disabilities and is on the Autism spectrum. She struggles with sensory processing, particularly at meals. She is compassionate, but sometimes has difficulty expressing herself. Now that she is starting to share her mind with her sister, it's been easier for her. Sansa usually does the talking, but Lyn is frequently the voice of reason. She is polite and shy, and wishes that her sister was more ladylike.
Though the girls have their own likes and dislikes, they are merging. Sansa is becoming more sensitive to textures in food and on her skin. Lyn is processing information faster. Though it is disorienting for both of them, they try to keep positive about it.Your VicesLikes: Chocolates, VlogBrothers, Reading, Tamora Pierce, Neat spaces, Pop Music, Tumblr, Girl Scouting
Dislikes: Clutter, Horror Movies, Cooking, the texture of grass on their skin, Tests, Social Pressure, Myths about "Twin things"
Strengths: Above-average attributes that all Gestalt Pairs have, as well as being good friends to have
Weaknesses: Though they enjoy reading, they are not academically inclined. They don't do well under pressure; either Lyn's reaction wins and they shut down, or Sansa's does and they react instantly and irrationally.
Fears: Spiders, Nana or Mom dying, that they will always be this disoriented.
Secret: They hate what their power does, and sometimes resent each other.Family TiesFather: Tilden Firth- 52, Attorney, completely uninvolved in Lyn and Sansa's life outside of child support checks
Mother: Paola Mendez- 36, Executive Assistant at a law firm, huge fantasy fan
Siblings: None
Any Other Important People: Rosa Mendez- 60, Manager at a chain resturant, Called NanaHistoryPaola Mendez always had her head in the clouds, or in a book. She was an only child, raised by a single mother on a shoestring budget. From the time she was old enough to be there alone, the local public library was her babysitter. (Once she turned fourteen, she actually started working there after school, shelving books.) She did well in school, but was not a stand-out. She went on to college, planning on studying Library Science and eventually becoming a librarian.
In the meantime, she started working as a receptionist at a small law firm. One of the junior partners there always took the time to talk to her and bring her coffee. He was sweet to her, and after she confirmed that no, he was not married, they started dating. It was only a few months later that Paola found out she was pregnant, and suddenly, Tilden wasn't that interested in her any more. Sure, he agreed to child support, but he wasn't going to do more than that.
That's when Paola moved back in with her mother. If anyone knew how to raise a kid on her own, it was her. Rosa was with her when she went for an ultrasound and found out that the baby was actually twin girls. She was there through the morning sickness and the aching feet. She was the one who held Paola's hand as she gave birth, and she was the one who talked her daughter out of naming her grandchildren Daenerys and Keladry. After a long argument, they agreed that Sansa and Catelyn at least sounded enough like normal names that the girls wouldn't be teased.
They did not anticipate how much popularity A Game of Thrones and the following books would achieve, or that it would get an HBO series. Rosa has since reconsidered and thinks that maybe names from Tamora Pierce would have been better.
From the beginning, Sansa and Lyn behaved differently. While Sansa was a screamer, Lyn made almost no noise for the first two years of her life, crying only when she was put down on grass or carpet. When her mother and grandmother noticed that Lyn just wasn't hitting her milestones, they took her in for an evaluation. At age 2, Catelyn was diagnosed with Autism.
After that, the Mendez family's lives seemed to rotate around Lyn's diagnosis. Paola dropped out of college for a while and focused on getting her daughter the support she needed. Occupational, behavioral, and physical therapy all helped, and though Sansa sometimes seemed to resent the attention Lyn got, she always liked to play with her. Lyn's speech was delayed, and the whole family learned basic ASL to help her communicate. Once Lyn was walking, it wasn't unusual to see Sansa run around on the playground, pulling her sister along with her and chattering non-stop. The quieter girl would follow, smiling, as she absorbed everything her sister was saying.
Once they reached school age, things didn't change much. Lyn was in special education classes, but in the same building that Sansa was in, and was mainstreamed in a few subjects. Sansa remained one of her biggest advocates, making sure she was included when their friends wanted to do things. Though they mostly lapsed in their use of ASL, on occasion Lyn would use sign when she was too upset or tired to form words. They each flourished in their own way, all the way into high school. Sansa sometimes struggled academically because she does not ask for help when she needs it.
When they turned 14, something new happened. Lyn was the first one to notice. She started feeling anxious at random times, or her heartbeat would race. Other times, when she normally would get worked up over something, she was unusually calm. It wasn't until Sansa had a sudden panic attack in class when Lyn was upset over something that their school put it together. The girls protested at first, because they had always been annoyed by myths that identical twins had special, near-telepathic connections.
They have been at Hammel for a few months now, and are adjusting okay. They waver between loving the physical abilities their power gives them and struggling with the disorientation of their senses. They don't know how things will work out regarding Lyn's disability, which is now both of theirs. Sometimes they resent each other for how their lives are changing, but they will always stand up for each other.Roleplay ExampleSee James. What About You?Name: Tony
