Hello, I'm Dryope, and I am a thread addict. Just read my little plot ads below and if a character looks interesting to you then check out their profile and throw some plots my way! I'm open to most anything, from the big plot movers to the fluffy getting-to-know-you threads. If you really want a thread but don't have a premise just ask and we can brainstorm!
Now! On to the fun part: The characters!
If you're Josh then everyone is a friend until proven otherwise. Even if he's only talked with you once, you're a friend. The role of best friend has been occupied by one Sean Neville for over 30 years now, but that doesn't mean he won't speak with anyone else. In fact, if you attend Synagogue with him, you're his friend; if you sit next to him on the bus, you're his friend; if you make eye contact in the grocery store, you're his friend.
And of course, if you're a member of the so-called GMC you're a friend. And hey, the GMC is looking for new recruits!!
Of course, just because he prefers friends doesn't mean he has no enemies. There are people who dislike his religion or his politics or his classism (or who just wish he would shut up once in awhile), and after his run-in with MSAD he may be a bit wary of anyone who is a Gestalt pair. And he is known to be a bit jealous and insecure in his relationship with Sean, which does makes friendship with people who have been involved with his partner difficult.
After decades of codependence, emotional entanglement and on/off intimacy, Josh and Sean have finally discussed their Feelings and agreed to try again, so Josh is unavailable for romance.
As a lawyer and an activist he's available to sue the pants off businesses and individuals who may have discriminated against you....and if you want to stage a protest or just help the community with some volunteer work, he wants in.
Hart is a pretty laid-back guy for the most part, so he doesn't have a hard time making casual friends. He's a bit more cautious about close friends because he has some secrets that tend to scare people away when he shares them. He does, however, have a roommate, Josef Muller, so any friends of Josef's are potential friends of his as well.
Those secrets are also why he doesn't really do much in the way of dating but he is starting a tentative relationship with Officer Sloane Deveraux, so he is currently off the market.
As far as enemies go, he can be pretty stubborn and contrary, which may not come across that well. And his teasing sometimes crosses the line. And besides, this is Vermont, it's pretty likely that his huge crush on Sarah Palin isn't going to win him any points here.
As former Barrack clerk he got to field some 911 calls and may know some people that way.
He's in Pilot Ridge because of his niece, Jessica Pruitt, and he recently quit his job with the government and has begun teaching again. He teaches middle school history, but he's willing to help tutor older students who need help, too.
Amber is my student character. Gregarious enough to easily make friends, though as a daydreamer who loves fairy stories and fantasy his closest friends may be a little on the nerdy side.
If you dislike spiders or nerds you are likely to be on his enemy list. Of course, he isn't crazy about arachnids, either, but it's not like he got a choice in the matter, is it? and if you somehow have wasp related powers then...yeah, you're his nightmare.
When it comes to love hey, he's 17. Of course he's interested. He prefers masculine presenting people, or at least androgynous, but actual gender identity isn't important. Still, he's not out as male yet himself, so it's likely that any romantic relationships still think of him as a girlfriend and that could be awkward. (Past relationships are also welcome.)
Things to know when you thread with me:
[/u]- Don't apologize for your post. PLEASE. If you don't give me enough to work with I'll let you know but this is really rare.
- I actually LIKE short posts so don't feel like you have to write a novel to impress me
- I don't mind if you do minor godmodding (ie if our characters are in a restaurant, feel free to assume my character ordered)
- Although I'm typically online during the day, I have a baby who needs my attention. Because of that, I have a scheduled posting time of 8pm to 9pm EST (but this is dependent on husband actually taking the baby for me). If you're on at this time and wish to post volley, then poke me. Otherwise, this is the only time I get posts done, and it's not very likely I can get to every thread in one hour. So please be patient.
- On that note, I'll be patient with you. RL>RP
- If I don't give you enough to work with or something in my post confuses you, please feel free to ask
- I prefer general premises and then organic RP to plotting out a whole bunch of threads in advance. I'll tentatively commit to some long-term plans with the caveat that things change. If you're changing a plan, let me know. If I want to change a plan, I'll let you know
- If a thread is boring you let me know! We can fix it or kill it, doesn't matter
- If you think a thread is coming to a natural end let me know that, too. I like my threads to wrap instead of lingering
- Don't be afraid to talk to me. XD I don't bite!
