Surprise Food

Dorothy had gotten it into her head that she was going to feed her friend Thomas. He was the french teacher here and they had known each other for a while, initially running into each other in the cafeteria, where she had accidentally knocked coffee over his book. Luckily she had gotten an extra copy over amazon fairly quickly, and once the new book had been given the two had continued to develop a friendship.

Thomas had often told her of one of his favorite foods that he could rarely have seeing as some of the ingredients were hard to come by. The two had agreed to meet to exchange gifts. Dorothy had felt bad about not being able to get him many things this year so she had splurged a bit and gotten him a few more expensive items, as well as made this recipe and got the ingredients for it.

On the table there was an enevelope and two wrapped boxes. Within the Enevelope was a Barnes and Noble gift card worth fifty dollars, and in the first box was a calligraphy set. The other box held a journal, leather, and held together by a ribbed spine having a a dragon, which she knew Thomas would love, on the front.

Dorothy had taken care of all of the work that needed to be done for the day, and was excited for this lunch. She hoped that her hunches on the gift were right and was excited to see her friend. She knew that he had classes this morning and was glad that they were doing lunch. Now they could take the time to relax and catch up on how each break had went. Dorothy had stayed at Hammel for break and was fine with it, as it gave her to have some fun with the kids who weren't able to , or didn't want to go home.

Smiling Dorothy looked at the stove where she was cooking the sausage. According to the recipe she had found she was almost done. Thomas had better like this, she had made sure to do it just like the recipe and hopefully it would turn out like the picture looked. She wanted to surprise her friend and what better way then with his favorite food?

Hearing a knock at the door Dorothy took the potatoes off of the stove and set them aside. Moving to answer the door she smiled and let her friend in. "Hey! How was your break! Come on in, got a surprise for you!" Dorothy went back to cooking since she knew Thomas knew his way around her apartment. "Think you are gonna like it!"

The prospect of not having lunch alone delighted Thomas, and even more when his company was Dorothy Wilson, the head of housing. They had been friends more or less the amount of time he had been teaching at Hammel and she was such a joy to be around. Even if they did meet under bad circumstances. He could laugh about it now, obviously, but it hadn't been too pleasant when it was happening. He still looked at it with quite fond memories though.

Armed with a bag that was filled with some limited edition fandom collectibles that he had thrown together; a deerstalker made famous by Sherlock Holmes, little Captain America's shield earrings, the fourth doctor's scarf [this had actually been pretty hard to come by], a leather bound journal with the Hogwart's insignia on it and a special edition boxset of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It encompassed the big five fandoms he knew Dorothy enjoyed so he hoped this set would delight her. It was a joint Christmas and New Year's gift.

Knocking on the door, he adjusted his hair and tie and waited for her to respond. When the door opened, he could smell something quite familiar, something he rather enjoyed. A big smile carved on his unusually shaped face as he entered the rather large dorm apartment. "Dot, what are you up to?" He asked with a suspicious grin. He set his stuff down on the floor by the couch and approached the kitchen.

Dorrie was ecstatic, she didn't have to have lunch alone, and she could trust her team to do what they needed to. She was handing more and more responsibilities over to her R.A.’s and was more then willing to give off a little of her work if her staff was competent. She was excited to have lunch with her friend.

Dorothy was used to spending time and effort on gifts for her friends and her charges. If they needed something, or deserved it she was willingly the one to go out and buy it, no matter what the cost. That was exemplified in her gifts to Clement, and in the way she had tried to amass the amount of presents she had gotten for her friend. She didn't expect anything in return and just wanted other people to have things, and have a good day. She hoped her gifts would suffice and she was excited from him to eat the yummy noms that would be devoured.

As she let him in Dorothy gave a smile to her friend, tilting her head, “You’ll see.” Dorothy was, at the moment making the potatoes. The water and potatoes had just come to a boil and she double checked her recipe to make sure she was doing it correctly. Now she had to drain them and then mix all the yummy things in. It was her way of thanking Thomas, even if it was a little unorthodox. She smirked and waved her hand at him, shooing him out of the kitchen. “I’m almost done! No peeking.” Grinning she turned back to the task at hand and looked back over her shoulder. “Presents are on the table.”
