Two halves happy in half

Iggy was, the twins were relatively sure, in their grade. He was around their age, and they’d seen him in classes and such. Therefore, they should’ve been predisposed to dislike him. Instead they mostly felt…neutral.

It was hard to dislike Iggy. And the twins had been spending less and less energy on disliking people anyways. This was mostly because, well…they were spending more time fighting synchronization.

It hadn’t been intentional. But that original lumping of togetherness that came in the morning began to last longer and longer until they’d been in the middle of class and had realized they were answering questions in unison.

And that just wouldn’t do.

Their consciousnesses had split abruptly, so much so that both twins had fallen out of their chairs and startled the teacher. Now they were both sore and irritable and frustrated by the fact that they could feel each other’s bruises. They hated this. When they were synchronized, it was fine. But they didn’t want to be. So during lunch, they’d went to the student’s lounge to sulk. They didn’t want to miss a ride back as it was so cold, but they did need a moment alone. And then Iggy had come in.

Hence the debate on whether they disliked him.

”Look,” Orion said. ”You’re a nice guy. Really.”

”But we were kind of hoping to hog this room all to ourselves.

Iggy wasn't too familiar with the Stewart twins. He'd seen them around in the hallways and in classes, and that was about it. He did know that they were indeed in the same grade as him. Another thing he knew was that they were a gestalt pair. Thus, with the little information he knew about the two, Iggy didn't really have an opinion of them either.

The cheerful boy didn't mean to intrude on the twins' brooding. His lunch was quickly eaten, and where else would be a good spot to spend the rest of the lunch period when it was icy and cold out? So of course he made his way to the student lounge. He wasn't expecting to find the two of them alone in moodiness.

Cheerfully, Iggy waved with a friendly smile beaming. His eyes were immediately drawn to Orion as his mouth started to move. He was called nice or at least that was what he got from it. Then his gaze went to the girl half of the two.

"Well, a little company doesn't hurt, right?" He plopped down on a nearby sofa, obviously with no intention of leaving. "… Are you alright?" The two didn't seem to look in the best of moods.

God, this kid was cheery. The twins rarely had similar opinions. The fact that they were Gestalts hadn’t done much to ease it, although it had helped quite significantly, but they still liked to disagree despite the fact that the same thoughts went through both their heads—which was why they would finish each other’s sentences with ease. They could never keep track of who’s mouth was running by the end of it, although both had a firm control on the start of it. But this thought was definitely from both of them. This kid was way too cheerful. And he didn’t seem to be scared off by them. That wasn’t good.

”No,” Orion said with a sigh.

”We guess not.”

”Would’ve thought you had more company to hang out with.”

”You know. Normal friendly people.”
