On the Road Again (Oriel)

Dom's assumptions were inaccurate. While, yes, Oriel didn't like Carter because of his eyes on Luxanna, there were more reasons than that for why he hated the guy, none of them having to do with the girl that he thought of more like a sister than a potential lover. He hadn't even known that anything had happened between Lux and Carter. So when Dom's words seemed to imply otherwise, Oriel stopped, letting the cigarette fall from his lips to the dirt.

"Wait, what? What're you talking about?" He must've been hearing the guy wrong. Actually, everything Dom said hadn't made a fucking lick of sense.

For one, Oriel's interest in Dom had nothing to do with Carter, it had to do with Erik. For two…Lux and Carter…. "No…you're lying. She would've told me." Because she trusted Oriel to respect her decision when/if she asserted what she wanted….right?

It took Dom a moment to realise Oriel had stopped, and he paused and turned with raised eyebrows. Oriel hadn't known? Well, that was one theory down the dust. He'd have to think of another reason why Oriel had gone from 'you're not my type' to 'take me now.'

"I'm talking about my brother fucking Lux," he said slowly, "well, actually I think she made the first move so I guess I should say she fucked him but, you know," he shrugged nonchalantly, "schematics. I thought you'd know, given how closely you watch her door."

He personally didn't like Lux much after the way she'd sided with Oriel over Carter during that stupid argument about who was allowed to talk to her. But, he and his brother didn't always have the same tastes and that was fine. "Well, I thought she would have," he said, raising a hand to flick his platinum-pale bangs back out of his eyes. "She knew what she wanted," he added, looking at Oriel searchingly. "We're not in the habit of sleeping with the unwilling."

Given the reaction and Oriel's previous issues, he wouldn't put it past the other guy to assume something unsavoury.

Whether or not someone was Oriel's type had no bearing on whether or not he would sleep with them. Erik wasn't his type either and neither was his own boyfriend.  Oriel valued a unique sexual experience far more than a person's outward appearance. That didn't stop his mouth, though. And he was still a slut willing to fuck anything with a hole.

In Dom's case, Erik said he was alright.  Erik, the snake he was, who would lash out and strike anyone who ventured too close, was friendly enough with Dom to say he's alright.  And Oriel wanted to find out why.

Oriel had no conflict with Dom. 

"....I hadn't been watching it recently," he muttered, his voice empty and his eyes staring blankly to the ground.  "I...thought she'd tell me herself if...when she decided she wanted to…" But she didn't.

"Fucking bitch lied to me!" he hissed, clenching his fists until his jizz-white nails dug into his palm. Oriel closed his eyes to hold back the sting behind them. 

He couldn't decide what was more frustrating. The fact that she slept with Carter; that she didn't tell him; that he had to find out from Dom; or the fact that no matter how much he hated it, Oriel couldn't do a goddamn thing about it?

Maybe even more frustrating was that he knew that there was clearly nothing between him and Lux, and so Oriel had no justifiable reason to be angry.

"I hate her," he said to no one. Wasn't like anyone was listening anyway. Or cared.

If Dom had known Oriel still thought that Oriel would be the one being the batter, he would have found that hilarious. Dom was the fucker, not the fuckee; no one had ever complained about that arrangement before. His very name suggested what his inclination would be, and he was about as likely to bend over for Oriel as he was to buy clothes at Wallmart.

"Oh no," Dom said, rolling his eyes at the over-dramatics. "She had sex without telling the guy who made it clear he wanted to control every aspect of her life, what a surprise." Had Oriel never heard of teenage rebellion before? His hands still behind his head, Dom started walking again. Oriel was giving way too many shits about the sexual exploits of someone other than himself. It was ridiculous, a waste of time, and generally a sign of giving way too much of a shit.

"Stop being such a bitch," he said flatly. Usually he wouldn't give a crap about how Oriel felt about his 'princess' but Carter was involved and that changed things. "You're embarrassing yourself. If this is all it takes to make you hate her, you have a fucked up sense of loyalty."

While Oriel preferred being the dominant one in the bedroom, he liked to think himself a superior lover for being able to adjust to his partners preferences. Oriel prided himself of his flexibility, like an opera singer with a voice to be turbulent and strong, or as fine as silk. Not like cheap karaoke singer with only one volume setting. However, for the mere amusement and irony behind it, Oriel was likely to let Dom be Dom just because of his name.

If this guy managed to take his head out of his brother's ass long enough to see when someone's actually trying to be friendly. Even if Oriel's concept of friendly was questionable.

Dom was right, however. Oriel was giving way too many shits about who that bitch slept with. Oriel didn't like having it pointed out to him though. He got it. He really did. Oriel was pissed about it, and not happy, but he knew he'd get over it.

It was the lying he couldn't handle. The deceit. Sneaking around like there was something to hide, like she was doing something wrong, like she couldn't trust him or worse, like she was mocking him for being stupid enough to believe her when she said "I'd follow you anywhere" and "You're my best friend" or "I trust you." Oriel had had enough of that when he was a child, from the parents who abandoned him, from the fosters who neglected him, the social workers who shuffled him around from one bad situation to another, from teachers who ridiculed him, all of them just lying through their teeth to keep Oriel complacent until they ripped his heart out like he was just a toy for their own amusement.

Then there were the women, who would get close and gain Oriel's trust just so they can use and humiliate him. "I'm loyal to those loyal to me," he growled, feeling the tension build up in his arms. "Don't assume you know anything about me!" he shouted, blinking through the dampness in his eyes. That's when he lunged forward, intending to hit the closest thing he could find.

Dom had been fencing since he'd been six, as had his brother. While not the most practical, or applicable to real life, it did mean the blond man had learned how to read when someone was about to make a hit, especially if they didn't know how to hide it.

He stepped back quickly and slammed one bare foot down on the bare dirt. The earth under Oriel's feet buckled and shifted and grew loose, loose enough to let Oriel's feet sink up to mid shin. A slight sheen of sweat started to bead over his forehead as Dom's toes dug into the dirt to solidify it again.

Breathing heavily, Dom took a deep breath. "Don't assume," he said, jaw tight, "that I give a shit about you, or who you're loyal to."

It was tempting to just leave him there. The dirt was tightly packed, but Oriel would be able to dig his legs out in a little while... or a long while. It'd ruin his nail polish. But as amusing as that image was, Dom didn't want Oriel racing back to school to try and bust Carter, or attack Lux, which would go back to Carter. His eyes were watering. God, why did people cry around him so much?

"I really don't care why your friend jumping my brother is this big a deal to you," Dom started, and quickly raised his hand in case Oriel tried to explain, "and I don't care to know why. But if you try to hit me, or my brother, or anyone my brother cares about, I'll stop you." He didn't blink during the entire speech as he looked at Oriel, eyebrows raised. He didn't shout, or even snap, nor did he speak particularly quickly.

What he did do was offer his carton of cigarettes and a lighter, since Oriel had dropped his.

Oriel was definitely a brawler, untrained, and focused far too much on swift, heavy hitting than reading his opponent.  He was also impulsive, it was no surprise his attempted assault was seen from miles away. 

Oriel felt the ground give beneath his feet and his arms swung out as his balance wavered with it. He struggled to free himself so he could get at the terrakinetic, grasping at the air as far as the awkward position would let him, growling and snarling like the wild child he used to be, until his balance finally gave way and he collapsed backward with an anticlimactic *fwump* onto his bum, his chest heaving and sweat dripping from the exertion. 

This wasn't fair, Oriel thought as he listened to Dom scold him.  Not only could he not move from this spot and run to any place where he might be able to calm down by himself, Oriel wasn't even allowed to speak out his frustrations, wasn't allowed to release his anger in any way, shape, or form that would at

With his balance completely off, and his feet now engrained within the well packed soil, Oriel fell back with an anti-climactic fwump on his bum. With no place to outlet his building frustration, he curled in on himself, desperately trying to regain his breath, and glared up at the blonde boy with resentful eyes, ignoring the wetness that had collecting within them.

They panned from Dom's face to the cigarettes he held out. Oriel snatched the offering and immediately started trying to light up, fumbling and flailing with his trembling hands.

Leaning over, Dom flicked his zippo and held it out, one hand cupping over the wick to keep the flame out of the wind as Oriel lit up. The guy was crying, something that Dom had absolutely no intention of engaging with; tears did not make him uncomfortable as much as they honestly stirred up feelings of discontent and disgust. It was like the emotional version of say it, don't spray it.

"For fucks sakes, control yourself," he muttered finally, more out of second hand embarrassment than anything else. Straightening and sliding his hands into his pockets, Dom raised his eyebrows and looked down the line of his nose. He could either continue on his way, and wait for Oriel to dig himself out or he could loosen up the dirt enough for him to climb out.

He was leaning towards the one that involved less effort on his part.

After all, Oriel had tried to punch him in the face. And, more importantly, he had tired to punch Carter in the face. Also, he'd tried to use Dom's most consistent 'friend with benefit' against him (he had a habit of assuming the worst when it came to people he'd slept with talking about him, especially after Tak).

"Th-thanks…" Oriel managed to utter when Dom took the time to light the cigarette for him. If Oriel could keep himself from tearing up, he would. He hated crying, especially in front of other people. It did nothing, for anybody. Nothing for him, nothing. Crying never did anything but make people think you were ugly, and stupid, and childish, and just a pathetic fool trying to get attention. They ignored you the more you did it, ridiculed you for being weak, and made you feel even more worthless.

No matter how much it hurt, no matter how much you needed it, it was always like that. Nobody cared about a crying child.

"…I'm….trying…" he rasped out between his quick, labored breaths. "Except you….had to fucking nail me to the ground!" Oriel glared up at the Chevalier with all the disdain for the man who trapped him and held him hostage in the earth. "I'd've been long gone by now if you hadn'ta…." Oriel was having trouble breathing and his breaths were starting to become short and quick. He struggled to suck in a long, slow lungful of that "better" stick of nicotine.

Oriel didn't have anywhere to run to. He didn't have anything he could hit. He couldn't speak and explain why he was so upset, which was not at all what this guy was thinking. Not that Dom cared. It's no wonder the only way Oriel could release his frustrations were through tears he didn't even want to acknowledge.
