Cupcakes and stuff [Kodi]

[Gryphon Matsuoka]

Gryphon frowned at the little box that sat on his desk. Did he really want to try doing this? It was probably gonna end badly... but he couldn't do anything but be happy about it, right? I mean, who didn't love cupcakes?

But he loved Valentine's! Call him sappy, but it was truly adorable. Of course, there was always gonna be those one or two couples that went totally overboard, but they were usually loud enough to easily avoid.

For him, today? He wasn't... certain what he would be doing, but he hoped in the least that he would enjoy it. He was going to see Kodi after all. Their little run in on the 8th had been... really amazing. A memory he had been cherishing, and would probably continue to do so for a long time.

So, box in hand, Gryphon left him dorm and went into Kodi's, taking a breath before knocking on his door. He didn't even know if the guy was there, or how he would react if he was, but... he would just have to wait and see.

Kodi had absolutely nothing planned for today.

Well, nothing with anyone else, that was. He hated Valentine's Day with a passion, being surrounded by couples being gross and intimate with each other in public. Shoving their relationships in his face, reminding him that he was incapable of being loved...

Fuck that shit. He was gonna go out and do something to help him get his mind off of it.

And so he had. Kodi had splurged today by - what else? - dyeing his hair and getting some new piercings he'd been saving up for forever. His hair was still blonde for the most part, but there were now streaks of pale blue and teal through it, just for something new. The piercings, appropriately, were snake bites, two rings on his bottom lip just beside where his canines would extend when he was using his ability. The new bits were still red and irritated from the job, but Kodi loved them.

He was just relaxing on his bed reading when someone knocked on his door. Warily, Kodi got to his feet and unlocked it, wondering who would be visiting him - it seemed like half of his visitors were people that wanted to beat him up. But, no, it was Gryphon, and Kodi stared at him with wide, uncertain eyes, catching sight of the little box in his hand.

Kodi would be lying if he said the boy hadn't come up in his thoughts once or twice or a dozen times today. But he'd never admit that out loud. "Whaddaya want?" he asked, opening his door a little more to give his visitor a tentative smile. "Don'tchu know this is my official sulking day?"

"Well, y'can stop sulkin'; I brought food." Gryphon smirked and held the box out a little more so Kodi could take it and see it's contents. On the inside, he was shaking like a mouse at his nervousness, almost not wanting to see the other boy's reaction. He had clearly portrayed his hate for the day last Saturday, and now, Gryph had turned up, on Valentine's Day to give the blonde- well, kind of blonde- boy a gift... what had he been thinking?

He took in the boy before him... that was new. Of course one of the first things he noticed was the blue that had made an appearance in Kodi's hair. That was new... it didn't look bad. If anything, it was pretty hot. Gryph himself had been considering dying his hair again, he'd done it quite a few times in the past. Possibly something darker this time though, probably brown? He'd think about it later. The newest thing involving Gryph and his appearance as of right now though was his new tattoo. It was still a little raw, and had a small plaster covering it, but he knew he wouldn't regret it.

And those piercings... he wasn't gonna say anything, but they were... interesting. All he could think of was that he wasn't a fan. But... not saying anything.

Gryphon chuckled, "This is new," he said, pointing at his head and then Kodi's. As if it wasn't obvious enough that he'd changed it, he'd had it done to himself... Gryph decided to stop thinking for a few seconds. To save him from his own stupid thoughts and save Kodi from the weird facial expressions.

Kodi's gaze fell back to the box Gryphon was offering him, shooting him a raised eyebrow as he tentatively reached out and took it from the boy's hands. "Well, I am pretty hungry," he said quietly, tugging the lid open and peeking inside to see... "The fuck's this shit?" he asked, eyes wide as he stared at the sickeningly bright cupcake within. "It's like... Radioactively colorful." It dawned on him then that... Gryph had gone out of his way to get hims something like this... Just for Kodi... On Valentine's Day. And as gruff as Kodi was being about it, he felt his stomach twist into knots and his chest squeeze because he'd never been given anything for Valentine's Day before.

"... If you wanted t'get laid, you didn't have t'buy me anythin', you know that," he finally added, reaching inside to pick one of the pink sprinkles off of the frosting. He stared at it for a moment before popping it into his mouth. It was super sweet, but Kodi managed to get it down. He'd stuff the rest of it down, too. ".... I didn't getchu anythin'." He didn't sound guilty as he said it, but... He almost felt that way.

How the hell was he supposed to know Gryphon was going to get him anything!? They weren't together! They'd just kissed a bit. And slept in the same bed a couple times.

Kodi looked up again from the captivating little delicacy as the larger, yummier delicacy spoke, and gave a small grin. "Yeah. 'Bout time I got a little change. You like it?" He flipped his hair up a little and motioned Gryph to come inside. "I've wanted t'get these for a long time, too," he added, prodding a finger against one of the rings. Kodi shut the door and plopped back down on his bed, leaving room for Gryph as he lifted the cupcake out of its box and, folding down a side of the paper, took a huge, frosting-filled bite. He ended up getting the blue stuff all over his upper lip and the tip of his nose.

Gryphon grinned, looking at the gift he'd given, "Matches your hair." ...well, it did! The choice of colour wasn't exactly intentional, but it was a funny coincidence. The sex comment though, he couldn't help but laugh, "You know as well as I do that that's not the case yet." Oh crap, he said yet. He shouldn't give the other boy hope, he knew that. He still chuckled and watched the boy practicallly analyse the cake.

He smirked, "I don't care, don't really need anythin' anyway." It was true. Like, he loved Valentine's, truly, but cakes only lasted a day, flowers, a couple of days and any bears or anything got lost or thrown away usually. He liked the spirit of the day, not the material presents.

Subconsciously, Gryphon put a hand up to his own hair, and shook it out a little. "Yeah, I like it. Pretty fuckin' sexy, if you ask me." He smirked and stepped inside, sitting next to Kodi after he sat. He took the oppurtunity to look at the pointed out piercings again. Gryph was fine with ear piercings, eyebrow piercings and even tongue piercings, but the lips, nose and anywhere else practically, piercings didn't belong there... still not saying anything. Especially if Kodi himself liked them, it would be incredibly rude and selfish to tell him otherwise.

Gryphon saw Kodi take another bite, and saw the icing that came off on his face... the oppurtunity was staring him in the face, what else could do? "You gotta little somethin'," he teased, signalling to most of the boy's face. And then he leaned in and kissed his top lip softly, but swiftly, pulling away as soon as the icing was in him mouth. Mmm... he should've gotten two of those cupcakes, that damn icing was fucking fantastic.

Kodi looked at the frosting, then peeked up at his bangs, giving a small chuckle. "Well, ain't that sweet," he snerked. Ugh, why was this stupid stuff making him feel so weird and fuzzy? Kodi was an unlikable, unlovable asshole, dammit! "Yet?" he encouraged with a toothy grin. "Well, we'll just have t'wait an' see how long that'll take." Kodi was determined to have him bedded by... At least spring break. When was that? End of March? Pleeeenty of time. Because no way was he developing real feelings for this guy, nope...

"Mmm... If y'say so," he mumbled, wracking his brain for ideas. He thought of one, but it required pinning Gryphon down on the bed, peeking off his shirt, and attacking him with enough aggressive kisses that he'd have red welts all over for days. Hmmm... Kodi could pull that off. He'd keep it in mind. It was a great idea, in his opinion.

Kodi grinned widely at the compliment, flicking aside his bangs again for emphasis. "Glad ya think so," he said without really thinking. Dammit, he didn't want to... Seem like he needed Gryphon's approval or something. Because he didn't! Kodi would make himself look how he wanted and not care about anyone else. He wasn't sure why Gryph didn't say anything about the piercings, but he dropped the subject for now, running his tongue over his bottom lip and the rings of metal before he attacked the cupcake.

The Chinese boy was about to wipe the mess from his face when Gryph pointed out the obvious, and Kodi blinked as the boy swooped in and promptly kissed a good portion of the mess off of his lip. He hardly had time to react before they were apart again, and he wiped his sleeve against his mouth and nose to wipe off the remainder. His cheeks were flushed visibly. "You mooch," he teased, taking another bite of the cupcake. It wasn't half-bad... Or maybe he was just telling himself that. "Getcher own cake! This one's mine." He stuck out his tongue, which was also pierced, albeit a much older one that Gryph surely already knew about from their makeout sessions. Kodi's teeth were also slightly pointed from eating; he couldn't help it. He tore off another piece, ignoring the frosting mess for the present. "..... Thank you," he finally said, quietly and with his gaze averted. "... This is nice." Ugh. He was going soft and it was all this moron's fault.

Gryph had a terrible sense of humour and he knew it, the kind humour that made people laugh, but only because of how terrible it was. So he restrained himself from outrightly saying that yes, icing was sweet because it sounded funny in his head but he knew how stupid it would sound out loud.

How long it would take? Gryphon chuckled at Kodi's confidence but honestly, it was going to be a long time before he did that, if he did at all. He felt like he needed to know the person he did it with for the first time well, so that it wouldn't feel like a mistake... he didn't want to feel like being around Kodi was a mistake, it was better that he waited.

He almost felt like Kodi wasn't convinced, "I'm good." he confirmed. He didn't want Kodi to waste his time. Gryph just grinned a little wider in response to Kodi's response, looking at the floor for a second. He felt a little awkward for the moment where he said nothing about the boy's new piercings. He could easily enough get used to them... not that he had to, it wasn't like they were going out or anything... or were they? Gryphon was pretty damn confused; he liked spending time with Kodi, and mucking around, and they'd had some pretty... intimate moments, but were they a thing? He wanted to ask, but... he couldn't. Wasn't the right moment. Maybe later.

He licked off some icing that had ended up on his own lips, "I know that one's yours, doesn't mean I can't have a taste." He really should've bought another one... they could've been cake buddies! Or some shit like that.

Gryphon smirked at the floor and then at Kodi, looking him in the eyes, "No problem." He had looked at the boy's eyes before, of course he had, but he'd never looked in to them. It sounded like the same thing, but he couldn't even remember their colour, he wanted to be able to recall them later. They were brown, and Gryph almost wished they weren't encircled with eyeliner, so they weren't so... hidden. They looked amazing... and Gryph had been looking right at Kodi's eyes for at least 30 seconds; his eyesight hit the floor, idiot, idiot, idiot...

Nope, not going out. Kodi didn't date. He didn't get dating; all he saw it as was pointless outings that eventually just led to sex anyway, so why waste time bothering with that stuff when you could just get right to the good stuff? Not to mention, he'd never been actually asked out, or asked anyone out himself, so maybe that was why he was bitter abou- no, he wasn't bitter! Dating was dumb! And if anyone were to ask what he and Gryph were, he would just say...

... Shit, what would he say? Friends with benefits? That didn't seem right. Kodi didn't have friends, and the 'benefits' were only kissing so far. Ugh... He was thinking about this way too much.

He blinked and came back to the present as Gryphon spoke up, grinning over at his... Whatever the boy was. "Alright, fine," he snickered. He definitely did not mind Gryph stealing a taste the way he had. "Shit, I usually hate sweet stuff, but this ain't too bad." Kodi wasn't sure what it was about it that made it more tolerable. It couldn't just be the simple fact that someone had given it to him, right? Noo, that was dumb...

Kodi was busy focusing on the dessert and therefore didn't realize at first that Gryph was sort of staring at him. When he finally looked up, their eyes met, and something about the visual contact made Kodi's cheeks heat up as he wiped some of the blue stuff from his mouth. "Uh... Whatchu got planned for the rest of the day?" he asked, trying to break the awkward silence that had suddenly fallen between them. He finished off the last bite, swallowing it with relish and giving a satisfied sigh. "Mmm..." he hummed, and, no matter how Gryph answered, Kodi proceeded to lean over and lower himself over the other boy, making him lay down on his back with Kodi straddled over him. "I'm enjoyin' this distraction from my sulkin'," he admitted, not making any further contact yet, just smiling down at his handsome captive.

Crap, he didn't know that Kodi didn't like sweet things! He made a mental note of that for the future. At least he liked it, that was good. Gryph knew he liked it, he was still hovering on the wish that he could have his own... now he took another mental note. He was gonna actually have to write these down soon, his memory wasn't that brilliant.

Gryphon's eyes scanned the floor, his heart had leaped like a fucking cricket when Kodi had looked at him. He tried to calm his adrenaline and looked up again, taking in the boy's question. "Uh..." he had been mulling over something else before he had come here.

He wanted to ask Kodi out.

But he was being a fucking pussy about it! It wasn't for today, it was too busy everywhere with couples and stuff, and he didn't want to put Kodi through going to see all of that up close and personal. But he had... plans. For today, though? Not. A. Clue.

"I dunno, just gonna..." he spoke, the beginnings of a ramble poking through, but he kind of trailed off. It was difficult to concentrate when someone had climbed onto you. Gryph closed his mouth and looked up at Kodi with his eyebrows raised and his mind curious, grinning. He felt a buzzing in his gut but tried to ignore it, "I'm glad." He didn't really know what to do, it wasn't like he could move much... oh fuck, he was trapped. Noooooo, no no no no, he hated being trapped! He tried to hide his minor frustration, but still pushed up a little, trying to get out. His smirk had waned, but he wasn't... angry. Just irriatated. And frustrated. And possibly a little turned on- no, no this was not turning him on. He didn't squirm for long, knowing of the fact that it would just rile Kodi on.

It was pointless, really, but it was worth a try.

Hmph. Weirdo. Kodi didn't know what had gotten into Gryphon, but he was acting sorta weird. Twitchy. Maybe it was just the day or something. Whatever, the Chinese boy didn't care, or so he told himself.

Had he known the real reason that Gryph seemed so off-balance, he would've freaked out. Because who'd ask him out? No one in their right mind, surely.

Kodi chuckled as the other boy began to talk, feeling a little curious and playful as Gryph stared up at him. "Cat got your tongue?" he clucked, his teeth peeking out in a small smirk. "You shoulda known this would happen, moron. You can't come t'my room like this an' not get jumped. Just ain't happenin'." Kodi would respect Gryph's decision not to sleep together just yet. But that didn't mean that anything else wasn't fair game.

He did, however, feel Gryph push up on him slightly, and Kodi shifted, confidence slipping a little. Did Gryph... Not want this? Fortunately, he didn't seem to want to put up too much of a fight, so Kodi stayed where he was, eyeing the other boy up and down like candy. "I think... I want t'eat you more than that cupcake," he snickered. Slowly, Kodi reached down to grasp the hem of Gryphon's shirt, pulling it up around his chest to reveal those delicious, sculpted abs. Sparing a short glance up at Gryph's face, Kodi leaned down and pressed his lips against them, mouthing along the uneven surface and ignoring the slight pain it caused from his new piercings.

Mmm.... He could do this for a while. He gradually trailed up to Gryph's chest, where he paused for a moment to look up and see how the other boy was reacting.

It was hard to act natural when you felt like you were about to explode for nerves. Gryph did as much as he could to hide his racing mind.

Gryphon chuckled under his breath, yeah, if you're secretly a feline. And he kind of... knew he should've expected something along these lines. I mean, come on, its Kodi. Just... not like this - this was a bit different, something he hadn't exactly prepared for. That wasn't a bad thing, per say, just... caught him off guard. And worried him a little. Especially seeing as he couldn't get out. Was Kodi gonna... no, he wouldn't... would he?

His eyes fell and rose again, meeting with Kodi's. And they filled with slight panic at what he was saying; eat him? He wasn't gonna... he wasn't... he felt the boy lift his shirt, "Kodi, what the fuck're you-" he felt the boy's lips make contact with his stomach and he relaxed almost instantly. The boy on top of him wasn't about to make him do something against his own will, which was what he had been wondering. His eyes rolled back and he sighed, his breathing a little deeper. Mmm... that felt amazing.

Gryphon was so distracted, he couldn't think straight at all. No snarky comments, no words in a form of a compliment, nothing of substance came to mind. "Mmm..." he sighed - he didn't mind being sat on so much anymore.

If this had been Oriel or someone like Oriel, Kodi wouldn't have hesitated in really going after them, despite protests or complaints. He understood how people like himself worked - even though there might be a scuffle or disagreements, in the end, a good fuck was all he really wanted. Gryph, though... Kodi had to be careful with him if he wanted to keep him around. He didn't want to push the songbird too much and scare him away before they even had a chance to get to the real fun. So... Kodi would keep this up, for now. Get to know him, get comfortable with him, maybe... And then pounce!

He did get a tiny thrill, hearing the slight panic in Gryphon's voice, but he didn't say anything back, not now. Kodi was too busy munching on those delicious muscles. He felt Gryph relax under him, fortunately, so Kodi let himself sink down a little more to rest more comfortably against him, giving his arms a rest from holding his own weight. He nestled his torso over Gryphon's, grinning triumphantly down at the older boy. "There's more where that came from," he promised, leaning down and nipping Gryph's ear. "Unless you, I dunno, wanna go do somethin' else or somethin'."

He wasn't sure what Gryph thought of their just getting together to make out all the time. A guy like him, he probably wanted to get to know a person through talking too, right? Kodi wasn't all too great at that, so he didn't usually try. "Hey..." An idea came to Kodi's mind, and he grinned. "Wanna try out some fangs?" Why not? It might be fun.

Gryphon didn't really understand (or know about) how Kodi usually attacked his prey. Gryph himself didn't really know how he did, either. It usually depended on the person. And he only went further than flirting if he was really intrigued, like he had been with the bluey-blonde boy.

Mmm... he felt Kodi come closer and nip his unpierced ear. And then he asked the kind of question.

This was his opening, he could do this. Kodi wasn't gonna laugh at him, he was the one who began biting him in the first place. But what-if... what-ifs were gonna be the death of him someday. When he wasn't entirely confident, his thoughts filled with what-ifs and clouded his judgement. You have to ask! his mind told him, you have to ask him right now, the moment's going! And indeed it went. "I... uh... um." Was all he could manage to get out. Ugh, he was so stupid when he was flustered!

Gryphon took in Kodi's offer and pushed it aside; no, he was gonna do this. Deep breath. "Sounds great, but a-actually, Kodi... I-I wanted t'see if... if you wanted t'go out sometime." He wanted to show his sincerity by looking him in the eye, but... he couldn't. He fucking hated it when he got shy, he sounded so stupid! Ugh...

Kodi had had no intentions of asking Gryph out... Ever. It just wasn't something he did, or could force himself to do. The possibility of rejection was too hard to handle, too much pressure for Kodi to put on himself. No, if someone actually wanted to risk getting to know the volatile boy better, they would have to do so on their own.

The southern boy just had no idea that Gryph was at that point.

The stammering, though, made Kodi tilt his head and raise his brow. "You're actin' kinda weird today..." he mumbled, mostly under his breath. Stammering and being all generous... Ugh! It was making Kodi feel soft and attached and he didn't like it! Nope...

He settled back slightly as Gryph turned down his offer, shrugging a shoulder nonchalantly. It was no biggie, not everyone was as into it as Kodi was (though Gryph would hopefully get more used to it eventually). It was what came next that made the Chinese boy freeze in his tracks, gaping at the other boy like he'd just uttered some profound, life-changing knowledge that would drastically alter Kodi's reality. Which... In a way, it did.

So he stared.

And stared a little longer.

Kodi continued to stay unmoving too, just silent and frozen against Gryphon for what seemed like forever. Then he slowly blinked and came back to reality, realizing he was clutching rather tightly onto Gryph's wadded up shirt around his chest. "G-Gryphon, I..." His voice cracked, and he looked away. Fuck! He was acting like a stupid girl, over what? A date? Like... A real, actual date? Kodi wondered if he was dreaming. "You... Really... Want t'do that... With me?" He just had a hard time grasping the concept. "But... I'm a dick..." And no one would ever want me. He finally looked back to Gryph's face, his own features slack with astonishment.

"You're actin' kinda weird today..."

It was obvious? Fuck. He had to get back to normal, back to laughing and joking and teasing and being sarcastic and not being a complete and utter idiot! He didn't know how to counter that comment though... nope, nothing. Why, why now, why today to lose his good judgement and his ability to actually speak!

The idea of getting fangs was... an interesting one. I mean, surely it would hurt at first? And it would feel weird having spiky teeth? Gryph was definitely interested at the idea, but now wasn't the time. Especially as Kodi was... staring at him... in silence... oh crap, Gryphon broke Kodi. Or... or maybe he was about to laugh at him, and he was just adding insult to injury... he still wasn't moving. He couldn't help but wonder what was going through the boy's mind. And why he had gripped onto his shirt, what... what was going on? I mean, it was difficult enough to ask, and that moment felt like it passed in the blink of an eye, and now they just lay in silence.

Gryph was about to try and snap Kodi back to reality, but he seemed to do it himself, speaking his name. That alone was enough to fill his stomach with butterflies. But his question, that sent Gryphon into a similar sense of shock. Usually Kodi was so... sure of himself. Why did he feel the need to have to ask? "Well, yeah. D'ya... see anyone else in here?" He tried to lighten the atmosphere with his stiff joke, glancing around a little. But he didn't smile or smirk yet, he couldn't, not when Kodi wasn't too.

Again, why did Kodi think he was such a dick? OK, maybe he was a bit rough on the edges and could have the emotions of a teenage girl, but he wasn't actually a terrible person (from what Gryphon knew). And he didn't know how to solve those negative thoughts, other than to attack them. "No... no, you're not." He looked the boy in the eye. "You're not." He felt like that was enough, but if it wasn't, his brain was working again; he could pull something out of the arsenal.
