General Appearance:
Doris stands with good posture, and usually has a smile across her face. She's little overweight, but in good shape and health for someone her age. She has glasses which she keeps hung around her neck on a chain; they only come into her vision when she needs to read something. She's pretty short, at 5'5", so she has to get her husband's help to reach the higher jars of sweets, since he is a lot taller. Her hair is kept short, so its out of the way, and she doesn't dye it (unlike some of her friends) because she doesn't see the point of so much hassle. She does wear make-up most days, just mascara and a bit of eye shadow, nothing too obvious or bright. Doris' face has wrinkled with age, but her skin is still healthy and hardly scarred or bruised. Her teeth are in good condition too, always pearly white when she gives a smile.
As for clothing, her wardrobe isn't saturated, but Doris chooses to wear comfortable, practical clothes over stylish ones. Of course, she will dress up when the occasion calls for it, with dangling earrings and long necklaces, as well as something along the lines of a patterned shirt and trousers and possibly high heels, if you're lucky. Dresses, although she does wear them, aren't items that she likes to don on a regular basis. Her every-day wear usually consists of a shirt and trousers with sensible shoes and possible a chunky necklace. She wears studs in her ears all the time to save her from having to get them re-pierced.
Personality:
Doris is a woman of class. Not in the sense that she might look down on others, but in the sense of that she holds herself in pretty high respects. For example, she respects the fact in herself that she has managed to continue using things like pens, paper and her own mind, whereas others use phones, tablets and computers. She's independent, and tries to only rely on herself to do most things, even if it causes her difficulties. The only other person she will willingly ask for help is Jack, her husband. In most other cases, she would prefer to help others, even with a given risk.
Doris is very maternal; probably from the fact that she has 2 children, Louise and Aaron, but she cares very much about kids and the youth of today. Those below a certain age, that is. She's very opinionated and open in her opinions, not afraid to let others know what she thinks (someone that teenagers would call a 'bitch' probably, but she refrains from such horrific language). One of her most forward opinions is that she doesn't like meta-humans because they seem to think they have some special importance in society, just because they were born as 'important', and this is one of the main reasons why she joined PUSE shortly after arriving at Pilot Ridge. She can debate her ideas easily and intelligently, until she is offended. She can't understand the disrespect that some people show these days...Your VicesLikes:
Everything old fashioned and traditional: Call her a fuddy-duddy, but she likes to do things the way they have always been done. Taking short-cuts is lazy and you shouldn't try to fix something that isn't broken.
Punctuality: You should never be too late, or too early. You should always be exactly on time, and Doris likes it when this standard is met (which is difficult for her family to always conform to but they try their hardest, for her sake).
Rhubarb and Custard boiled sweets: She likes to keep a little dish of them near her while she's working; she knows that too much sugar is a bad idea but this is only time she eats them.
Long walks: Some days, Doris likes to be given time to just wander around and think. Her little strolls would be more carefree if there weren't so many vehicles careering around, but that isn't something she can change.
Children: But not teenagers. Children and toddlers, though occasionally loud and obnoxious, are mostly innocent and sweet and she loves seeing them visit the store. Reminds her of the happy times when she was raising her own children... before they were infected with age.
Sudoku: Sudoku's are good, time consuming puzzles and they make Doris feel like she's keeping her brain in shape. She'll do the occasional crossword as well, but only when she's in the mood.
Dislikes:
New technology/developments in society: She can barely work a computer and any phones give her difficulty. She can use a land-line, but she could never text. She usually gets Jack to help with anything technologically advanced, she just can't work with it.
Metas: For her, they fit into the category of new developments, and the fact that anyone has any powers is confusing for her. Those kinds of powers belong in fictional novels, not everyday life. Also, how can you except her to trust young people with 'magical' powers? They'll just cause mischief.
Marketing Salespeople: Half of her phone calls come from telemarketers, and all they do is waste her time and get on her nerves. Don't they have someone else to haggle?
Teenagers/Young Adults: The future of our planet and they spend their time... boozing and partying. Don't they realize they have responsibilities, expectations? And all those students from the Hammel Institute seem no good, always up to something. Ruffians.
Vulgar language: Sometimes, Doris can't believe her ears. Its atrocious how much people swear and cuss, atrocious.
Mess: If she sees it and its dirty or out of place, Doris will clean it, no doubt.
Strengths:
Organized - How would the shop survive without her amazing ability to arrange possesions and know where everything is?
Good memory - From childhood larks to the placement of an old jacket, Doris has the memory of an elephant, thanks to the fact that she doesn't rely on technology to remember things for her; give her any object and she'll probably remember a story relating to it
Helpful - She is always willing to lend a hand to those who need it, even if she doesn't particularly like them.
Practical - She gets word done without any fussy details, which makes her efficient and well paced, but she still does it all with a smile.
Weaknesses:
Easily aggravated - There are quite a few things in this world that upset and annoy Doris, and when they appear, she doesn't easily hide her distaste.
Easily offended - She does not take jokes well, unless the meaning behind them if crystal clear and not insulting at all.
Stereotyping - Meaning she always judges a book by its cover, so unless you can prove definitely that you are not what you seem, she will see you as such.
Fears:
Metas - She hates them because of their abilities, and is scared of them because she is unknowning of what they are capable of. That doesn't stop her from openly expressing her dislike for them, though.
Being left behind - So to speak. She's afraid that with her age, her family will forget about her... its something a lot of people are afraid of but any-time she hears Louise talking about her video job, or Aaron saying how the school he works at uses I-pads... it makes her feel ancient.
Secret: She constantly feels naive because of how little she understands the progressing world, and how she can't catch up. She prefers her own methods of doing things, but... she doesn't like feeling stupid. And even though she hates the fact that her son married a meta human (and a telepath at that!), she still thinks her granddaughters, who might also be powered, are the most adorable girls on the planet.Family TiesFather: Philippe Frédéric Martin Patinoire (deceased)

The little girl's mother had been born and raised in England though, but moved to France to be with Philippe after World War 2, when she earned enough money. She tried to learn French, but found it difficult, and wasn't able to fluently speak the language, but could understand it enough to get along in the city of Paris. There were usually those who knew English anyway, since it was one of the most widespread languages on the planet. Anyway, the little girl, who was shortly after named Doris Marisol (Marisol after her grandmother), lived in France for the first 3 years of her life, until her mother and father decided to move to America. They found a house in the town of Pilot Ridge in Vermont, and this is the house that Doris has lived in for the rest of her life.
Throughout her school years, Doris noticed a few of her classmates disappearing. She was told by her parents that they had been taken away because they were meta-humans, and these powered humans were too dangerous to be around others. This developed her first opinion of metas, one of fear. Luckily for the teenage girl, none of her friends suddenly evaporated from existence, so she was happy.
After graduating high school, Doris knew exactly what she wanted to do. When she had gone back to France and the UK on multiple instances to revisit family and friends, she had been taken to these 'traditional sweet shops' that her relatives lived near to. There weren't many shops like those in the US, so Doris always saved up to buy jars of the sweets, which her mother would ration to her. She was all about saving for the future, Francesca would never let her daughter waste anything. So, what Doris wanted to do was open one of these shops in Pilot Ridge. That way, she didn't have to leave the town she had always lived in, and she could be around sweets all the time! It was brilliant! She went to the University of Vermont and took a degree in Business Management, and her family aided, saving money. In general, her family was very frugal, especially her mother. Both her and Philippe, her father, would always talk about how they had to save all that they could, and work with whatever they got during the Wars. Once Doris had her degree, she bought a small shop that was for sale in the area and began working almost right away, setting up orders for all kinds of sweets to be delivered and basically, setting up. About half a year later, and 'Mother Marisol's Sweet Shop' was ready to open! She called it 'Mother Marisol's', because her mother insisted that she called her mother, and not mum or mummy, and she wanted to use her middle name, because she'd always preferred it over Doris.
It was through the sweet shop that she met Jack. He came in one day to buy a jar of sweets as a 22nd birthday present for his sister and they hit it off quite quickly. He began to visit on a fairly regular basis, and one thing led to another... after 3 years of dating and working together, Jack proposed during a picnic and Doris, of course, accepted. Ever since then, they have been together happily, supporting each other all the time. Doris still thinks Jack is as handsome as he was that first day.
Time began to catch up with Doris, though. A few years later, her father died of heart disease, and within the same year, her mother died because of an underlying illness that no-one had noticed. It was a hard time for Doris, but Jack kept her strong and stayed by her side. By the next year, they had their first child, a bouncing baby boy, who they named Aaron Jack. Their son was happy, and seeing their joyful son, Doris and Jack wanted another child, so 3 years after their first, another child was born, this time a girl, who they called Louise Francesca, continuing the tradition of Doris' family by making her middle name the same as Doris' mother's forename. Both grew up well and were successful in their education, making two very proud parents.
But tradition wasn't set in their children's bones, and very opposite to their mother, they liked to use technology. Now, Louise has moved to Los Angeles and earns a lot of her money through the website 'YouTube', making vlogs on a regular basis, as well as working part time in a store as a cashier to make sure she continues to have a steady income. This... job option took a lot of explaining, as it didn't make too much sense to Doris, but she believed that as long as her daughter was happy, she was too. Even if she didn't understand her occupation.
Aaron, sharing a love for children, is now an teacher at Pilot Ridge Elementary. He met Florence, his wife, one day when she was reporting at the school. He answered her questions for the report, and they kept talking afterwards. Now, they have a beautiful pair of twins who are extremely energetic. The worst part of their relationship was the time when Aaron had to explain to his family, mainly his mother, that he had fallen in love with a meta human. Both children had been constantly subject to their mother's strong opinion on the 'special' humans, so learning this, for Doris, was... difficult. She couldn't process the idea in her mind. She wasn't without a heart though, and didn't stop anything from happening between the two, but she's still bitter towards Florence. She loves her granddaughters, Chloe and Penelope, though, and visits them when she can. Aaron... informed her that they might be powered as well, but she seems almost deaf on the subject. How could anyone imagine such an adorable pair as tainted?
The business is still going strong and gets many customers daily. Doris is happy, and believes her life is going well.Roleplay Example...what sorry? Oh, just go look at Georgina Speer, Terrence Mathews, Philomena Snow or Gryphon Matsuoka <3What About You?Name: The Applemeister
