The Basics
Name: Doctor Linda Qiang Hu, PhDs.
Nicknames: Lin, Linny, KnuddelKnödel, Schatzi
Age: 43
Orientation: Homosexual
Desired Rank/Job: School Psychologist
Powers: Luna-synthesis.
At night, Linda absorbs energy from moon light that boosts the functions of her body. She experiences extremely high energy levels, as well as boosts to her concentration, problem solving and her other bodily systems.
Side effects include severe insomnia, the degree of severity depending on the state of the moon. During the full moon, she does not sleep at all and usually ends up cleaning the house and cooking all night. As a result she is not a morning person, and relies on coffee and energy drinks, and the occasional sneaky nap, to get through the day.
The speeding and slowing down of her metabolism also means that Linda puts on weight fairly easily when she eats during the day, something she finds extremely unfair.

The Details
Hair Color: Black/dark brown
Eye Color: Brown
Any Piercings? Just her ears, one in each. She had more, but she’s let them close over.
Any Tattoos? Many. Including the ones visible on her arms, shoulder and chest, she has a back piece, tattoos on both of her butt cheeks, a piece that stretches over her stomach, and large colorful pieces on both of her thighs. They’re generally flowers and birds, images of nature, though her forearms are bare.
Any Scars? One on her knee from a tumble off her bike, and her left pointer finger is at a slight angle from when she broke it the first time she tried to ski
General Appearance: Despite standing at only 5'3", Linda is a hard person to miss in a crowd. She has a preference for bright colours in her clothing, and on her skin. However, there is a very distinct difference between how she presents herself at school (see example here) and how she is when she’s off hours.
What’s constant across both of these pretty definite looks is Linda’s love of colour, and the splashes of it. While she does wear some black, Linda’s outfits are never boring, and never plain. When at Hammel, she wears blazers and slacks, blouses and simple jewelry. Her bags and shoes are usually bright, and sometimes even match. She sticks to pretty neutral makeup as well; brown and tan eyeshadow and no bright red lipstick while she keeps her hair tidy.
When office hours are over though, the ink gets an airing. Less foundation, brighter makeup, and much more cleavage. Linda likes having her shoulders and back bare, and so tends to stick to tops with thin straps, and shirts and shorts that are, her wife tells her, not appropriate for a woman of her age.
She has a round face with cheeks that rise to meet her eyes when she smiles widely, and keeps her eyebrows plucked thin, usually darkening them with pencil.
Despite the slim Asian stereotype, Linda’s curvy and carries extra weight in her arms, thighs and stomach. While she claims she’s too old to be self-conscious, it’s something she does occasionally complain to her wife about, mostly with a mouth full of cake.
Personality: Linda was always a strong minded, boisterous woman, and while she has calmed down some as she's gotten older, Linda's still pretty damn rumbustious. She loves to laugh (usually very loudly), and often, and enjoys making inappropriate or sarcastic comments to her friends and her family to see their reactions.
A gay rights activist in her youth, Linda is still a very passionate and intense person, and can often be somewhat melodramatic. If you get into an argument with her, patronize her or don't treat her seriously, prepare for a reaction that you won't soon forget.
However, due to her issues with sleep deprivation, it's not uncommon for her to snap at those around her, especially if she hasn't had any coffee yet and they're being too cheerful, too loud, or trying to talk to her. Those close to Linda know not to take anything she says before she's had her coffee to heart, though having a heavily tattooed woman telling you to jump into the sun in Chinese, German or Italian can come as a shock to those not used to it.
When Linda puts her mind to something, she works hard to make it happen. She has a strict work ethic that, combined with her boosted concentration and retention at night has helped her immensely with her studies. Learning is a serious business to her, and since she struggles to sleep at night, especially when Tanya's away, she usually starts listening to language tapes or trying out new recipes.
With the students who come to her though, Linda knows to tone it right down. She's very good at getting people to talk about themselves at their own pace, building up until conversation flows more freely and they feel ready to talk about their issues in their own time, while still making it clear she won't put up with bullshit or attitude. Because of this, Linda often works with students who are otherwise sullen or despondent, or who have struggles trusting figures of obvious authority.

History
Linda was the first generation to be born in America, after her grandparents on both sides immigrated with their young children to San Francisco. Her upbringing, while quit strict when it came to school work and respecting her elders, was a happy one. She often played with her cousins and second cousins, and was under the watchful eye of her parents as well as various aunts and uncles. She didn’t visit friend’s houses much, and had never had a sleep over.
Her powers manifested when she was 14, and in the week it took for the recruiters to turn up, coming from a non-meta family her parents simply thought she was staying up late to do homework, or was messing around.
Linda took the chance to say “I TOLD you I wasn’t just lazy,” and while no-one, herself included, wanted her to move to Vermont (her grandparents had fled during the Communist revolution so the government coming to take you away was synonymous with bad) there was little they could do about it.
It took her a little while, but Linda learned to love Hammel. She was able to be herself, and while she still did not come out due to her fear of her family and the school’s reaction (things were better there then most places but still, not nearly as forgiving as it is now) she did have her first girlfriend. Mostly secret hand holding and kissing in the park, until she came out in her final year with a “come at me if you have an issue” attitude brought on by reading several books and becoming proud of her sexuality. This was also when she became interested in therapy, after seeing one herself at Hammel.
She concentrated hard on her classes despite her chronic insomnia, usually sleeping after class and then studying at night, and due to the nature of her power she performed excellently. Aware of how important it was to her family that she go to a good college, Linda was faced with the problem of not wanting to go into medicine, or law, or science or any of the professions that both her parents (a pharmacist and a family lawyer) associated with success.
This, combined with the increasing frustration at her family’s inability to understand her sexuality lead to Linda applying to study overseas. Switzerland was chosen because of the concentration of metas in the area as a result of Kocher, and because she had been teaching herself French by listening to tapes at night. Before leaving, Linda dyed her hair bright pink and blue, bought a ton of eyeliner, and got ready to reinvent herself away from the critical and conservative eyes of her parents.
She was beginning the first of her two PhDs in Psychology, and was a prominent member of both the collage political scene and the LGT community when she met Tanya at one of the queer rallies she helped to organize, and again later when, she was asked to give a guest lecture to people starting their first year of psychology.
She’d had two girlfriends and several less serious relationships, and so things started pretty casually, however Linda became infatuated pretty quickly though she went to some lengths to hide it. However, she did make a point of learning Tanya's first language, German, though Linda will continue to claim this is because she just wanted to be able to understand Tanya when she was getting angry and switching languages on her. Italian was something they tried to learn together, being the third language spoken in Switzerland where they were living and studying. Completing her first PhD, Linda joined a practice as an adolescent psychologist and moved in with Tanya.
Proposing was an awkward moment for them both, as they were both planning it and continued to chicken out. Finally, one of them (they will argue until blue in the face about who asked who first) popped the question.
Linda completed her second PhD, this time in meta manifestation and the affects it has on adolescents and children, while Tanya completed her medical residency and internship. They both relocated back to America seven years ago, and Linda's been working at Hammel ever since. She and Tanya have been able to settle into the community and make friends with the rest of the staff, as well as creating open communication between the students she works with.
