Cam shrugged, his mind jumping to the memory. “I think I got some of his hair, like, pulled it out or something.” He laughed a little and touched the puffiest part of his eye, just under his big blues. He winced, God it still hurt. Did it really look bad? Cam laughed again nervously. “Guess I’m a lover, not a fighter.” Cam didn’t really go looking for trouble, he just wanted to make friends damn it! “Last time I got punched in the face was by that Odion guy...” Cam let the memory fade away – it wasn’t really worth talking about.
“Well why’d you go and do that?” Cam asked, shaking his head. “Sleep is divine, much better than a cup of joe.” The blond nodded, it was so bitchin’! “Present from a friend, since my old hunk o’ junk was totalled,” Cam said, giving Jared a mock glare, before laughing lightly. “Nah man, it’s all water under the bridge,” Cam insisted before any argument could be made. That, and he didn’t want to talk about the friend who had given him the truck. There were apparently a few people Cam needed to forget about.
“I love it out there, I didn’t come back for the scenery,” he admitted, because the only thing Vermont had was some awesome mountains. But he had really come back because of the people he missed in his life. He was ready to make things right again. Cam smirked and glanced at Jared, giving him a playful whack. “Are you saying I’m old?” Leave it to Cam to never take things seriously.
Glancing at the clock as he made a left hand signal, Cam had forgotten just how early it was. “Oh yeah, guess it would be breakfast time.” Nodding once, Cam crossed the highway into the McDick’s parking lot. “You can buy me food, but you gotta promise to not have any more coffee until you rest up,” Cam insisted, putting the truck into park.
Cam wiggled his eyebrows at Jared before hopping out of the truck, ducking into his sweater as much as possible as he rushed into the shelter of the golden arches. “Ladies first,” Cam announced, opening the door wide open for Jared. Being tired and being up early with a friend was bound to be amusing for everyone involved.
