General Appearance: Vanessa is of average height, standing at 5'5. She use to be all around tiny, until her pregnancy. Post-baby, Vanessa has newfound developed curves that she is still adjusting to, mostly in her bust and thighs. She isn't uncomfortable, per say, but would like to shed more weight. Her dark brown hair falls in shoulder length waves and Vanessa does little to her hair as she lacks the time and effort to spend on hair. She's got dark brown eyes that are framed with naturally dark lashes. Due to her Latino heritage, Vanessa has light olive skin and full lips that can usually be seen smiling, especially when in proximity to her son Christian.

Vanessa has little to no money leftover to spend on herself. A lot of her clothes are from before her baby, meaning they fit tight against her curves. Style isn't as important anymore, as she opts to wear comfortable clothing, especially with a messy kid around. She likes wearing basic clothing, like tank tops, t-shirts, yoga pants and sweaters. When on shift, she will wear nicer, more revealing clothing, which helps with getting a fair amount of tips.

Personality: Vanessa is an intelligent girl, having completed three out of four years of her Bachelor's Degree. She was studying biological sciences with a minor in economics. (It would have been completed had she not have dropped out due to it being overwhelming with her pregnancy.) She's intuitive, relying on logic over anything else.

She's practical and realistic, not one to be influenced by dreams or anything of the sorts. This can frustrate more creative people as Vanessa has the tendency to shoot down anything deemed absurd by the young woman. Some would even label her as pessimistic, but she insists it's a realistic view on the world. Vanessa is direct with her actions, thoughts and words.

Vanessa has a fiery personality. She's quick-witted, always one ready with a snappy comeback. She can be quick to anger and temperamental, but can usually cool off within a reasonable amount of time. Although it's hard to tell, Vanessa has a big heart and can also be a softy when she isn't frustrated. She loves those who matter to her and cares for them immensely, especially her son. In fact, she attributes this personality trait to him. Christian is her entire world. Basically, Vanessa is a fierce mama bear who will do anything to protect those she cares about

History

Vanessa was born as the middle child to the Rodriguez family in Houston, Texas. With her dad working as a mechanic and her mom as a high school biology teacher, the family got by, but weren't well off. She grew up in a lower middle class neighbourhood, attending one of the local elementary schools in the suburbs. Vanessa grew up as an exceptional and intelligent young girl, always getting good grades and played soccer in the community during her childhood. Her transition to high school was effortless, since the girl excelled academically. Upon graduation, the University of Vermont offered Vanessa the best scholarship. It was the sole decision for choosing the school, since her family couldn't afford to pay for tuition all on their own.

At the age of eighteen, Vanessa started her fall term at the U of V. After adjusting to the cold climate, being away from home and the course work, she enjoyed her time at university. She was studying biological sciences, just like her mom, with a minor focus in economics. It kept her busy and entertained. She loved the busy nightlife on the weekends and learning about what interest her.

Unfortunately for Vanessa, life threw her a curveball. Before starting her junior year at the U of V, she discovered she was pregnant. She managed to push through the first semester but had to drop out afterwards in order to focus on providing for her baby. She moved back to Texas, in order to receive love and financial support from her family. Although angry with her carelessness, Vanessa never regretted her decision, as Christian is her entire world now.

Now, Vanessa has moved back to Pilot Ridge with her baby in tow and a job as a bartender, determined to track down her baby daddy. Despite being an avid fan of casual sex, she knew that there was only one person who could be the dad: Malachai Roen. She never informed him of the pregnancy as the they shared only a one night stand together, but now has succumbed and needs help to care for their child. Vanessa hopes that her former fling will still be in town so that she can perhaps go back to school and complete her degree.
