AU: Thirsty (Vampire AU, Open)

"Nope too late I already won." Carleigh smirked victoriously, before lapsing into giggles. She watched River raise his arm, concerned. Her poor babe... she took his arm and gave it a gentle massage for a few minutes. Maybe that would help, and maybe not. "Still." she murmured, anger flashing through her eyes. The blonde knew that the hunter was taken care of and would awaken to a new life, but she... she still felt a little begrudgingly towards him. He'd hurt River. She shook her head, a smile on her face. "I know. I just worry." She leaned in, giving him a quick peck on the lips.

Carleigh had seen it coming. There were telltale signs and giveaways she had grown to notice after changing Tony, Kodi and others. She peeked over River's shoulder, watching the new fledgling with a curious expression. Her crimson eyes waited... and waited... and...

She winced simultaneously with River, letting him speak first. Better to slowly introduce Junpei to the undead life rather than let him go out completely on his own. The entire human population would be decimated and they would have to move. Carleigh stepped closer until she was right behind River, softly smiling at the hunter boy.

Finally, she stepped around River once determining that the situation was okay, and the blonde leaned down in front of the scared looking boy. "Nice to meet you, sweetie." She said, nodding as River finished up. "We can go through the rules later, alright? Right now... I can see what you want. Don't worry, it's completely natural. You're.. you're thirsty." Carleigh swallowed her own bloodlust as she said the word. Now was time to focus on the newborn and his feelings. "You can hunt. Whoever." She flashed Junpei a brilliant smile.

"But, I have a question. Don't feel overwhelmed. But, do... do you remember who you are?" Start with the basics, then get him to track someone else. It was a brilliant plan, according to the blonde, and it seemed to work with their other kids.

Junpei didn't know what was going on, but the longer he was, the more he could make sense of the things that flooded his senses. There were small snippets of information that flashed in his mind as he came in contact with the world around him. The wall…drywall. The floor…tiled. It was…warm? No, cool. No….that wasn't right, it should be cold, that much he knew.

He kept gasping for the air that he thought he needed, but it was doing nothing to calm his nerves, to dull the confusion. In fact it only made it worse because he knew his lungs should be burning and aching, but they weren't. There was no pain. Just fear. And hunger.

An intense, overbearing hunger.

The figures that stood over him, the longer he looked at them, the more in focus they became. They were familiar, somehow. He knew them. He didn't know how he knew them, but he did. The words they spoke, they seemed garbled, but still he nodded. Even if he didn't comprehend, he understood. It was a strange feeling. Especially coming from the woman. Her words, not the words per se, but her voice seemed like a tranquilizer. He liked hearing her voice.

"J-junpei…" he stammered out, though he didn't know where he'd gotten the name. The word itself seemed foreign to him, the sounds felt like they were being spoken by someone else. Junpei didn't feel like himself. He didn't feel in control of himself. His hands were still shaking as he reached them up to his parents.

His parents? No, that was wrong. There was something wrong with that, but Junpei didn't know what. "Yue…" he spoke the name, yet again, didn't know where it came from. Junpei blinked up to his mother, his reddened eyes seeming to flare as his hunger grew. "I want Yue…"

River sighed with a smile as he watched his lover at work. She was always better at this, taking things slowly, helping ease the newborns into their new world with compassion and grace. He was definitely going to show Carleigh how much he appreciated her later. For now, they needed to focus on getting this young hunter adjusted to his new life... Or, rather, lack of life.

He was still shaky, but at least he wasn't screaming and seeming terrified anymore. That was good. "Junpei," River repeated, tilting his head curiously. "It's nice to meet you, Junpei. We're here to help you, alright? You can trust us." The anger he'd felt towards the hunter earlier for his attack had all but faded; River's arm seemed to be fine, and he didn't really register the other pain, so there was no lasting harm done.

I want Yue... "Ahh, there we go," he murmured to Carleigh. So the boy did have a lover, or at least someone he was close enough to that he was thinking of her already, and only her. "You can have her, son. Do you know where she is?" He bent down and took one of the boy's hands as he tried to meet Jun's eyes, which were bright and fierce with the hunger River knew all too well. "We can't have you running off to terrify the city - that would be bad for us - but we want to help you find this... Yue."

He smiled, touching a hand against Junpei's cheek for a moment, before rising. "Can you stand?" he asked, still grasping onto the outstretched hand. "The sooner we begin, the sooner your hunger will be satisfied." That would surely be an incentive to get the newborn up and running.

"Junpei." Carleigh repeated with a nod at the same time as River. She smiled at the former hunter. Sometimes, it took awhile for vampires to remember their name. A rare few never remembered and adapted a new alias. Junpei saying his name only affirmed Carleigh's decision to turn him. Yes, he'd be a great addition. She reached out, touching his arm hesitantly. He could react in anyway and even if he struck her, it would only hurt for an hour or so. The blonde wanted to show the newborn that she was caring and compassionate, and gain his trust. Otherwise, herself and her lover could be in huge trouble.

"Brilliant." Carleigh grinned at the young man, before turning to face River with a smirk on her face. Everything was just working out in favour for these two. Confident, Carleigh nodded in agreement with what River said. "I know you'll find Yue. You can have her." She flashed her fangs in a dazzling smile. "Can... do you feel a pull? Like you should go in one direction? If so, follow it." She ordered Junpei. Carleigh turned back to River. "And we'll follow."

The blonde's ego had been stroke with how everything was working out. Junpei had an attachment to someone already. He remembered his name. She draped an arm around River's waist, practically hissing with excitement.

The longer he was in the presence of these two, especially the female, the calmer Junpei started to feel. His mother's touch, because of course that who she was, seemed to spark something within the former hunter. The shaking stopped. He looked at her with the eyes of a child. What was this feeling? Some sort of attachment? Junpei looked upon his blonde mistress and he found that yes, he loved her. But not just that. There was hate too. Fear. Loyalty. He would do anything for her. And for his father too, because he was important to her.

There was still a raging hunger, enough to drive him mad, but their voices, the presence of his parents was comforting to him. They reassured him that this desperate feeling was only temporary. He just needed…to feed.

Again, that sounded wrong to him. It was right. It was wrong. He both wanted to and didn't. It was like he had two minds, one urging him to just lose himself in the madness and embrace this new life he'd been given, while the other one desperately tried to hold it back. Junpei didn't understand it. He wasn't even certain of who or what he was. But he did know, somehow, that he needed Yue. Both sides of himself were in agreement on this one desire.

Junpei stood, his limbs no longer shaking, but only time would tell how long that would last. He needed to feed. Before it became unbearable. Junpei looked upon his parents with crimson eyes and nodded. "I know where she is." With that, Junpei took his first steps out into his new world in search of his target, not looking back for further approval from his parents. He knew they'd be there, she'd said so. And just that helped him focus to seek out his dear fiance, Yue.
