AU: Death by Seduction (Vampire AU, Open)

Kai hadn't realized he was a bit tense until Zach seemed to completely accept what he'd done; the vampire relaxed, cupping his hand behind the man's head and holding him to his chest, softly stroking his dark hair. "It's going to be just fine," he cooed. "I just want you to be happy. That's all I want..." Zach's well-being meant the world to him. If Vanessa disrupted that, Kai would be rid of her. But he hoped she would be a nice companion for both of them.

The vampire himself didn't really realize the full depth that Zach would take his questions until he reacted and Kai felt his emotions through their bond. He chuckled softly. There wasn't much more one could do than ask for eternity with someone, that was true... "I understand how you feel," he murmured, tweaking his lover's nose. "I... To be honest, I don't remember what I was like... Before." His pearly white teeth peeked out from behind his smiling lips. "Maybe I was a poor loser with bad hair and no love life." Kai sighed. "The undead life, it's... Not bad. Once you can control the hunger, it's amazing what you can do." And, over time, he'd developed a numerous set of supernatural abilities. "But, there is no pressure now," he added quietly, kissing Zach on the forehead. "You don't have to decide any time soon. But if you ever do, let me know."

He laid that way for a while longer, stroking his hand up and down Zach's before he peered at the clock and took a deep breath. "I better go check on her," he announced, slowly standing. Kai gave Zach another long, lingering kiss. "Don't leave the room until I tell you, alright? You know you mean everything to me, and I won't let her hurt you." With that, he went to leave and lock the door as he went out. At the doorway, he paused, giving the writer an encouraging smile. "I'll be back soon," he promised.

It really was a big step. Eternity was…eternity. So long. And still, Zach had no idea if he’d be the same person after the change. What if he stopped loving Kai because of it? That scared him. “Okay…” he said with a nod. He was glad that Kai wasn’t, at least, going to force it on him, though it did make the doll feel guilty for not being able to give a solid answer.

He supposed the good thing about bringing in this new person was that Zach could see how the process worked. He could see what he had to look forward to if he ever did finally decide to take that step. He could see if there were any radical changes in her person…though it wasn’t like Zach knew her. Kai would have to be the one to make that determination.

Zach turned his face upwards to Kai, accepting the kiss with closed eyes then reopening them with a nod. “Okay. I’ll be…I’ll be right here,” he confirmed. Then he watched Kai leave the room and secure the door behind him. With a sigh, Zach flopped back down onto the bed. Now he was lonely…

Kai quietly shut the door behind him, making sure the door was firmly closed so the only one who could open it was Zach, on the inside. He was thankful that the doors in this mansion were so thick and solid. He hesitated at the doorway before turning and making his way back to the living area, quickly catching sight of the woman still laying, still and cold, on the couch.

He watched her for signs of movement before turning to head towards the kitchen, keeping an ear turned in her direction in case Vanessa started waking up. Kai started preparing her first meal - it was simple, just a large glass of fine wine mixed with his favorite blood type (well, besides Zach's, that was...)

Even so, he knew it wouldn't satiate her hunger. Nothing would; the hunger never went away completely. Kai just had to make her calm and aware enough so she could be controlled, to explain to her what was going on and what she needed to do and not do. It shouldn't be too hard.... He hoped.

Once the concoction was mixed (and after he'd taken a few sample sips himself), he settled down into a large armchair beside the couch, glass of bloodwine on a coffee table beside him, and waited for Vanessa to wake up.

Vanessa didn't remember much before turning into a vampire.

Her cold, unmoving form lay on the couch, perfectly still as it had been a few hours ago. While physically she wasn't moving, the Hispanic girl's mind was beginning to come around, still hazed with confusion. All she could string together at the moment was... an unquenchable thirst for... blood? The thought made her throat ache, which left Vanessa even more confused than before. The word was enough to trigger the unexplainable thirst, and if she thought about it, Vanessa was sure she could smell the delicious scent somewhere... faintly... in the house.

Suddenly, her fingers began to twitch. All Vanessa could think about was the burning sensation in her throat, and how a big glass of fresh blood sounded like the most refreshing thing on the planet. Slowly, the movement spread throughout her body, sporadically, and Vanessa's eyes opened with sudden speed.

She let out a gasp, as her dark crimson eyes took in the scene around her. She shifted in place, staring up at the clarified ceiling. Her nostrils flared at the close proximity of...

Blood.

Sitting upright, Vanessa's hand gripped the armrest of the couch as the scent intoxicated the Hispanic girl. Well, her skin was distinctly paler now. She stared at her arm with a stunned expression, trying to grasp what had happened. The fleeting moments of the night meant nothing to her, as Vanessa stared at the glass, full of crimson liquid. Without second thought, she darted over to where the cup lay, greedily drinking it in. The red stained her lips and teeth, and Vanessa craved more of whatever elixir was in that glass.

Her wild, feral eyes landed on Kai, the crimson colour darkening as did her thirst. "More." Vanessa croaked out, while taking in the sight of the stunning man. She continued to stare, head tilting to the side slightly in confusion. "I... I want more."

Kai didn't move as Vanessa began to stir. He simply watched and waited to see what the woman's first actions as a newly fledged vampire would be. Would she be chaotic? Unpredictable? Ignore the blood and go straight for the fresher blood in the house, for Zach? If it was the latter, Kai would have taken her down without hesitation. As much as he was looking forward to having her around, if she proved too much of a threat to his dear pet, she would have to go.

But it appeared he didn't have to worry... Yet. He smiled as she caught scent of the meal he had prepared and practically dove over to drink from the glass. "I remember that thirst," he said softly as she drank. "It gets better, I promise." Not completely better, never completely gone, but manageable.

He scrutinized her body, taking in the paleness of her skin and the new color of her eyes. She was still incredibly beautiful, perhaps even more so, now that she and Kai were the same. He could only imagine the fun they could have. "More?" he said softly, reaching out a hand to brush over the top of Vanessa's head with a small smile. "There's plenty more where that came from, love." He stood, heading back to the kitchen area, keeping an eye back on the girl to see if she followed, and make sure she didn't wander.

Kai pulled out some more of his stash and quickly warmed it up, offering another large glassful, this time pure blood without the wine, to the newborn. "I know fresh blood would be more thirst quenching, but I'm afraid I didn't plan ahead for you to have someone to drink from as your first meal," he said, almost apologetically. "There is one other person in this house, but you are not to drink from him. Not ever." Kai's voice had dropped several octaves and he spoke firmly and with power. "Do you understand?"

The smell of the blood nearby was much too tempting for Vanessa to even pick up on the subtle scent of Zach, far away, and as far as she was concerned, not even noticeable. Even tainted with... something else, it was enough to drive her feral thoughts crazy.

Messily, Vanessa felt a line of the liquid spill down her left chin. Her hand instinctively flew up, to wipe it with the back of her hand before it fell on the expensive furniture. That wouldn't be the best way to leave a first impression. Her throat burned as the man mentioned the initial thirst. It felt like nothing would be enough to satiate the fire that danced inside her throat. Vanessa eyed the empty glass, gingerly placing it back where it had been on the table before glancing over at Kai. Better? Was this a forever thing? The aching, the burning... all of it? She frowned at the thought of this never fading. "You mean to say... I'm always going to be thirsty?" The Hispanic girl's voice raised a few decibels, shaking her head. "How am I suppose to deal with it? It's so unmanageable." Her fingertips dug into the side of the couch as her anger spiked.

Thankfully, Kai mentioned that she could get more blood. That was enough to cool off the fiery girl, for now. She felt warm for a moment, as Kai touched the top of her head. "More." She repeated, nodding for emphasis. As soon as he got off the couch, Vanessa followed, eager for the next taste. She got to the kitchen, as the aroma hit her. Even cold, she could have taken the bag and downed it in seconds. Tapping her foot impatiently, she nodded, not paying attention to what he was saying. All she cared about was the next drink. "Yeah, yeah, that's fine, got it." Vanessa brushed off, her eyes locked on the blood that seemed to be taking forever to heat up.

Kai frowned sympathetically at Vanessa's question, giving an apologetic tilt of his head as he continued to stroke his fingers through her hair. "Yes," he admitted, not wanting to lie to her. "But it won't always be this bad. I've gotten to the point where I hardly notice it at all unless I've gone a long time without feeding." And that rarely happened anymore, not with his resources, and Zach. "I'll make sure you always have your fill, darling," he purred. "I've been doing this for a long time. I'm sure you'll make an excellent vampire, after you get over this initial pain."

Fortunately, the blood didn't take too long to heat up, but Kai knew it probably felt like an eternity to the famished vampire. He pulled it out once it was ready and offered it to her, quickly pouring a couple more large glasses full and repeating the process. He had a fairly good idea how much he would need to give her before she was satiated enough to risk her meeting Zach. He didn't, however, appreciate how she brushed off his command. "I mean it," he uttered, his expression having grown colder, dangerously close to angry. "If you prove to be any danger to him, I promise I will kill you again." He didn't want to, he really didn't, but she needed to know how serious he was. "Do you understand me?" he asked again.

As long as she gave a satisfactory response, Kai stepped away to let her get her fill of the drinks placed before her on the counter. "I'm going to talk to him," Kai told her. "Wait here." And he strode off down the hall once more.

Yes. Kai's admittance made Vanessa frown, imagining infinite nights of neverending thirst and bloodlust. As a human, she never had to experience anything like her yearning for blood. She dug her fingers further into the couch with a heavy sigh, focusing on her breathing for the moment. She really needed to calm down and stop thinking about her new life with such a negative outlook. Maybe things wouldn't be so bad? The mere seconds that passed felt like a lifetime, as Vanessa let out a shaky breath. "Alright." Vanessa finally spoke, reaching up with one hand, capturing Kai's in her own for reassurance. This... new life was all so foreign and overwhelming and strange. "Thank you."

She eyed the full glass, licking her lips at the delicious sight and smell. But then, Kai was speaking, and this time, he sounded colder and potentially a little bit angry. Frowning, Vanessa looked up to his serious facial expression. She was frankly a little... pissed. It wasn't like she explicitly asked for this life. "I understand. I'm not going to kill anyone." The Hispanic girl scoffed, as her throat continued to burn. "Promise."

Her reassurance must have been enough, as he was now walking away again. Vanessa took one of the glasses, drinking down the crimson liquid in a greedy and messy manner.

Sure, Vanessa could say she wouldn't kill anyone. But the newly fledged vampire had't yet come into close contact with the fresh, hot blood of a human. It could very well change her mind when Zach came into the room; that's why Kai had used his vampiric willpower to thrust upon her that it was extremely crucial that she didn't even touch him yet. If that didn't work... Well, he already knew what he'd have to do.

He rubbed the back of his neck as he walked back to Zach's room, giving a quiet, rhythmic knock so his lover knew it was him. "Open up, love. It's alright." Assuming the man did as Kai asked, he slipped into the bedroom, wrapping his arms around that warm, welcoming figure and riddling his neck with kisses and nips.

"She's awake," he murmured. "And she's.... Calmer than I expected. Which is good." Kai pulled back slightly and took Zach's chin in his hands, looking at him sternly. "I made her swear not to hurt you. It will be hard for her to go against my word. Not impossible, but difficult." He pressed a kiss against those lips before continuing. "If she does anything, anything that even faintly threatens you, I'll kill her immediately."

His palms brushed down his love's neck. "I'll protect you with my life," Kai murmured. It wouldn't come to that - he was far stronger than Vanessa - but he still would. "Would you like to meet her now?"

Zach was, truth be told, still anxious about meeting this new, eternal partner that Kai had created on a sudden impulse. While Zach had accepted that it happened and that there was little he could do about it now, it still bubbled him up with flurry of insecurities. Why had he done that? Out of nowhere? What if Zach really wasn’t enough for him, that’s why he got the sudden desire to turn some random girl he met on the street, right? Maybe Zach should go ahead and get himself turned? But doing it because he was insecure about a new companion….that wasn’t right, right?

Zach wasn’t going to get over this easily. At least until he had some sort of assurance that Kai wasn’t going to ditch him for something newer, younger, and longer lasting.

The knock at the door had Zach perking up instinctively, like he’d done so many times when Kai had come to see him, and he immediately went to open it for his vampire master. He instantly wrapped his arms around his tall shoulders, giving the vampire a kiss then allowing him to be devoured in more.

“Is she?” Too bad. If she were disagreeable, then they didn’t have to keep her. Oh, just look at Zach, getting all jealous of someone he hadn’t met yet. “That’s good,” he said, taking in another kiss from Kai. “Okay,” he said, visibly relieved. Kai’s words always brought a loving smile to Zach’s face. “Yeah,” he said with a nod. “I would.” Kind of.

Zach would pull away slightly from Kai, and allow him to lead the doll into the next room where he would meet their new “friend”.

"Mmm...." Kai buried his face deeper into the crook of Zach's neck, drinking in the scent of his blood pulsing just underneath that thin layer of skin, hearing his heart beat in the cavity of his chest. Zach was so... Alive. And that made him all the more precious to the undead being. Zach had no reason to be jealous; nothing could replace him in Kai's life... Or lack thereof.

He squeezed his human lover as he gave his short, sweet responses, glad that he was being so cooperative and compliant with Kai's spur-of-the-moment decision. "You're wonderful," he murmured, giving him one last, longer kiss. "I love you."

Kai took Zach's hand in his own and started out to the living area (ironic name, if you thought about it), keeping the human very close as they entered. "Vanessa?" he said, wrapping his arm around Zach's waist. "This is Zach. Zach, this is Vanessa." No glorified introductions there. "We're all going to be living together now, so I expect we'll all get along just fine, alright?" He kept his gaze trained sharply on Vanessa; if she made the faintest move towards them with feral intent, he would be on her in a flash.

With glass number two in her hand, Vanessa had set aside the now empty first one and had been drinking the blood at a slower rate. Her throat still itched and burned, reminding her of thirst, but it wasn't as overwhelming as before. It seemed... dull, compared to how she felt when she had first woken up. She had stayed in the kitchen, casually sipping on the glass of blood when Kai entered with the human.

And boy did the scent of the human make Vanessa's thirst flare up. She quickly raised the glass to her lips, draining the rest of the glass to try and satiate the throbbing thirst. It felt like daggers were piercing her throat, not that she had experience with getting stabbed. Seemed comparable. Her fingers tightened around the glass, but what the Hispanic girl forgot to account for was her newfound strength. The glass easily shattered in her hand, causing her to snap out of her bloodthirst daze.

Slowly blinking, she watched as the shards hit the ground. "I... I'm sorry." She apologize, bending down in a flurry to pick up the pieces. "It's nice to meet you Zach." Vanessa rushed her words out, scared to inhale the scent of... Zach.

Every kiss that Kai could give him had Zach melting in is own skin, falling further in love and into the vampires cool embrace. No, however cold and lifeless Kai was, Zach always found the nightwalker’s touches to be as hot as fire with all the passion that was hidden behind them. If Kai wanted to, he could simply force Zach to be okay with this new companion, either by using his mind control that came with the imprint or by making Zach fall even more hopelessly in love with him…but Kai never did. He wouldn’t do that. He always asked and made sure things were okay with the young writer.

And that just made Zach fall for him even more. And, consequently, become even more possessive of his vampire master.

Zachary stayed close to Kai, practically hiding behind him as Kai got the woman’s attention and introduced them.

She was…pretty.

Zach scowled at that.

“Hi,” he said meekly, looking her over as she seemed to…lose her breath? She was struggling with the transformation, wasn’t she? Zach knew he should be sympathetic but…he was already starting to wonder how he could entice her enough to try and bite him, if only because he knew that Kai would kill her immediately if she made a move on his precious doll. “Nice to meet you too,” he offered, though he didn’t move from behind his master, turning himself inward towards Kai’s chest as the taller man wrapped his arm around the writer. Still, before enacting his plan(if he was going to do it at all) Zach figured he may as well probe the girl for information. “Uhm…how…how much do you remember of your….before Kai…I’m just wondering…” He retreated like a little mouse back into his words, turning his eyes down to the floor.

Kai would never use his abilities like that on Zach unless it was necessary for his safety. And while the writer was potentially in danger now, there was no reason to force him to like Vanessa; they could get to know one another the natural way (well, as natural as it could be between a new vampire and a human).

He blinked as the glass shattered in the woman's hand, watching each piece fall to the floor with his enhanced perception. "It's quite alright, sweetheart," he told her calmly, but he made no move to help her pick up the pieces; for all he knew, she could be trying to get him away from Zach enough to attack him. Not going to happen.

Kai peered down at his human lover as he curled against him and questioned the woman, albeit in a confusing way. "I think Zach would like to know if you remember what your life was like as a human," he said softly, petting a hand through the man's hair. "It's alright, my love. You can both ask each other whatever you would like, we're all friends here." He lifted Zach's face up for a kiss, even while his gaze lifted to look at the vampire woman. "What do you remember?" he asked when they parted.

Picking up the scattered pieces, Vanessa held them in one hand, still crouched over, facing away from Kai and Zach. Her hands began to tremble, and she continued to stay this way for a couple of long minutes. Finally, she stood up in one motion, clutching the shards. Had she been a human still, it would cause her pain and her hand would be cut open. She turned to face the two, making a conscience effort not to breathe.

Her dark crimson eyes darted between Kai and Zach, before resting on the human. She tilted her head to the side as the confusion flashed across her features. The word brought back faint memories, almost like they were clouded. Human. Vanessa peered down at her paler arm, as if that would help her recollection of the night before. Vampire. What was the colour of her skin like before?

"I... I don't know." She mumbled, ashamed. All Vanessa could think about was her thirst and the fire growing in the back of her throat. Her eyes met Kai's, a sudden image flickering in her mind.

"Vanessa," he repeated, tasting the name on his tongue. "A beautiful name for a beautiful woman." Kai smiled softly, though had he not been concealing them, his fangs would certainly be showing. "Malachai. But you can just call me Kai."

"Malachai." she repeated, nodding. "Fitting."

It was brief, but it was something. "Wait... uhm... I remember... the night we met. When we introduced ourselves." She closed her eyes, willing herself to remember more. Something substantial.
