I'd Do That (Monroe.)

Cam was in a great mood, lately things were going well. Everyone seemed to get their various reactions out of the way from his return, and it was great to know where his friends stood. He loved his life, and he loved being happy. This was himself in his truest sense.

He had been thinking about a lot of different people lately – Jared and Addie just to name a couple. There always seemed to be someone on his mind. And Salem, how could he forget about him? Cam sighed, glad that school wasn’t taking up really any of his time anymore. So, he could actually concentrate on all the beautiful people in his life.

Splayed across the couch in the common room, Cam thought about the last time he was here, making out with Tak. God, he still hadn’t met his own kid, but at least now he could look forward to it. He wondered if Tac really did have his eyes. Cam continued to flip through the channels, not really watching anything until someone jumping from an airplane caught his eye.

“Hey, I’ve done that,” Cam said excitedly, looking at whoever was in the room with him. “Monroe, Monroe, have you ever done that?” The brunet, like his latest attacker, had long glorious hair. Why were there so many attractive people at this school?!

Monroe was sitting in the common room in a chair in the corner, his sketchbook on his lap, but he kept zoning out so often from exhaustion that he wasn't sure what he was drawing made any sense at all. He looked up and blinked when someone started talking to him and shrugged his shoulders at the other guy in the roo who was marveling at someone jumping out of an airplane.

"Uh, no..." he replied awkwardly. Well that was one way to start a conversation. "When and why did you do that?" He didn't understand the want to jump out of a plane. What reason was there for it? He didn't know this guy very well, just knew his name from hearing it in passing. Cameron.

Cam could probably start a conversation from anything. Challenge accepted.

Smirking still, Cam sat back on the couch and kept his eyes glued to the tv. Whoever was jumping now had obviously never done it before. They were keeping their body as still as they possibly could - lame! If you put your arms and legs out, it felt like you were flying! And you didn't go down as quickly.

"Why? Pfft, why not? It's like, super amazing to jump out of a plane. It feels like you're flying." But Cam was just like that. He loved trying new stunts, and anything to get an adrenaline rush. He glanced over at Monroe. "What're you drawing?"

"When did you do that?" Monroe asked, looking up once more from his sketch book with tired eyes. "And honestly, I would think it feels like dying." The thought of it made him sick. Monroe wasn't a total stick in the mud, but he wasn't about to jump out of an airplane either.

"It's just dumb doodles," he replied. An outline of a girl wrapping her arms around her middle. She was wearing a cardigan and had big blue eyes... Man, how lame. He was doodling Adaryn.

"I dunno," Cam replied flippantly, "a year ago or something? I don't keep track of the awesome things I do." And he wasn't even exaggerating.

"Dumb doodles?" Cam repeated, not making a move to get out of his seat. "Huh. You're concentrating pretty hard for something so "dumb"." He said, and yes, he air quoted dumb.

"You do anything fun? Like, I dunno, go on dates?" Not that he was planning on bragging or anything, but most people in high school had been on dates and Cam was just trying to find some common ground between them.

"But why would you go sky diving?" Monroe asked, trying to ignore his obviously flippant attitude. He looked up just in time to see Cam airquoting dumb and Monroe tried to resist the urge to roll his eyes, something he felt he'd picked up from Eloise just from being around her.

"Drawing helps keep me awake," he said instead with a shrug of his shoulders as he worked on shading Adaryn's hair. His question struck Monroe as weird, mostly because it seemed like he was implying that Monroe didn't do anything fun. What kind of a random question was that? "I don't think my idea of fun matches everyone else's."

"Because it feels amazing," Cam replied quickly, so it had to be the truth, "all that adrenaline and excitement. And it's awesome to shoot - went straight onto YouTube." Cam could go on forever if Monroe wanted him to. The blond usually ended up talking enough for at least two people.

"Oh. Okay, cool." There really wasn't much Cam could say in response to that, but he was almost certain that Monroe's drawings were also pretty good. People usually didn't do things they weren't good at.

Cam wasn't trying to imply anything, some people were just crusty. "Okay..." Cam sighed - he wasn't getting anywhere with this guy. "That's cool you know, no one really thinks the same way as everyone else anyway." Sheesh, he was just trying to be nice.

"So... you don't like going on dates?" Cam pried. Because that's what Cam did, he didn't know how to shut up.

Adrenaline. Excitement. Two things Monroe didn't really have in his life. He was drained all the time, and this uncontainable amount of energy that Cam had seemed to make him even more tired. But the guy just kept rambling and asking questions and Monroe had no clue why he was so adamant about knowing if he liked going on dates.

"I'm guessing you like to go on dates," was his reply as it was obvious the guy was itching to brag about something, most likely the amount of girls he'd gone on dates with and Monroe wasn't even sure he'd been on a date. The two closest things were when he hung out with Adaryn knowing he had feelings for her but afraid because of his so called 'love prophecy with Eloise' and the awkward conversations with Eloise when they were out and about which were undates as far as Monroe was concerned. "And that's what this is really about." Why did it matter if he did or not?

Really Cam just wanted to brag about how awesome he was, because well, he did a lot of awesome things. And like his favorite movie once said: "Life is short - stunt it."

Cam let out a low whistle. "Wow, well aren't you a stick in the mud." He laughed. "Anyways," he carried on as though the negative commentary didn't matter, "I have gone on lots of dates, sure, but I just went on something a little different, an undate, with a super great girl I'm just dying to get to know better." Probably as a friend mind you, but it was the very fact that it wasn't an official date that got Cam interested in the first place. She was different, and he liked that.

"She loves chocolate and drawing..." Cam sighed, it had been so much fun! And he got the chance to make someone he liked happy.

Monroe wasn't really sure why Cam felt the need to tell him these things. However, he figured that he didn't just ramble to him about himself, but to everyone. Monroe didn't think of himself as a stick in the mud. It was just hard to be as 'fun' as Cameron when he was so tired all of the time.

"An undate?" He raised an eyebrow. What exactly classified an undate? He seemed pretty proud about being on one. He couldn't possibly have realized who the blonde was talking about. After all, there were a lot of girls who enjoyed chocolate and drawing.

Cam felt the need to tell everyone all kinds of things if they simply did not walk away and let him love them! It wasn't Cam's fault Monroe was tired, he would know.

"Yeah, an undate, it was awesome. Bought her some chocolates, took her up the mountain to see the view of the town," he said these things as though they were the most obvious things in the world.

"Addie really seemed to like it," he said, his focus on the TV now as an amusing episode of Maury flicked to life. He snickered to himself, glad that that wasn't his life. At least he was willing to step up and be a father if need be.

"How is that an undate?" Monroe asked. He wasn't sure if he was asking because if he was actually curious about Cam's dates or the fact that it sounded a lot like a date. That was the cheesiest, romantic gesture ever. Both of those were actually. Man, is that actually what girls liked? Because Monroe wasn't so sure he could live up to that. He wouldn't take a girl to see a view of Pilot Ridge, nor would he buy them chocolates unless they were seriously a chocolate freak. If he took Adaryn on a date, he'd bring her to an art studio, maybe do some pottery and then to a small cafe that nobody raved about. He wasn't so cliche, but he wasn't so sure he was romatic either.

His mind had started to wander and so it took him a minute to tune back in to what Cam was saying with Maury playing obnoxiously in the background. What? Addie? "You mean Adaryn?" Why was he calling her Addie? He couldn't just shorten her name like that. Did he even know her too well? Why would Adaryn go on a date with this guy or undate, whatever that was? "Adaryn Breslin?"

Cam shrugged. “It’s an undate ‘cause she probably isn’t interested in me and just wanted to be nice.” She hadn’t been crazy about him asking for her number, but maybe she wanted some company. So it was akin to hanging out, but calling it an undate made it seem more exciting, and Cam was all about thrills.

Girls and guys liked cheese, and Cam was full of it. Addie seemed to totally love it, so what did it matter?

Grinning like an idiot up at the TV, Cam leaned more to the side, getting comfortable. “Yeah,” he said, looking at Monroe, who was suddenly interested. So they knew each other, coolio. The blond laughed at something the audience was doing on TV and shook his head. “Man, I wonder how much they pay people to be on this shit,” he said, laughing again.

Probably. He sure hoped Adaryn wasn't. He tried to look at it rationally. After all, she was Adaryn and she probably was too nice to fully turn him down. The guy seemed really persistent anyway. But still, the things he'd done with her sounded romantic. And he felt faced with the possibility of losing Adaryn for the first time.

He'd been so busy dealing with the vision and feeling awkward about it with Eloise, that he hadn't been able to fully be what he wanted to be with Adaryn, even if he was bad about putting labels on things. And while him and Eloise were certain they would never end up together, he still hadn't told Adaryn straight up how he felt. That he wanted to be with her. Something told him she wasn't so keen on that. It was probably making her self-conscious! How stupid could he be?

Now Cam seemed rather uninvolved in the conversation and more in Maury. "She's seeing someone, Adaryn I mean," he said randomly.

Cam could play an idiot, he usually wasn't actually one. Monroe was totally into Addie, and who knew, maybe she was into him too. Admittedly Cam couldn't know everyone's business because not everyone was as public as he was.

"So?" Cam saw lots of people, dated lots of people, not everything had to be so exclusive. The fact that Monroe supplied the information just furthered Cam's suspicions.
