The Details
Hair Color: Bleach blonde/dirty blonde
Eye Color: Greyish blue
Any Piercings? Right ear and lip
Any Tattoos? not yet.
Any Scars? Probably, but he won't show you.
General Appearance: Thane has dirty blonde hair that is usually unkempt and grown out over his eyes, which are a stormy color somewhere between gray and blue. He is Caucasian and light-skinned and stands at 5’10”, weighing a solid 190 pounds. He can be described as rather burly, although not really of an athletic body type. He has his his ears pierced as well as his lip.
When it comes to clothing, Thane isn’t too concerned with what he wears, although he mostly can be found in gray and black—consisting of baggy t-shirts and/or hoodies and dark jeans that seem a size too big for him, along with worn sneakers. When just rolling out of bed, placing a beanie over his messy hair is often his solution.
Personality: First of all, never call him Graveyard. It’s a nickname he’s earned in high school that he doesn’t appreciate and he won’t hesitate to tell you that if you call him that—just probably in more violent words. Most view him as a troublemaker—one who despises authority and doesn’t follow the rules simply just because he doesn’t care. That’s accurate, but there’s a lot more to him than that.
Obviously rough around the edges, Thane is bitter and holds a lot of pent up anger inside which is something he struggles with. He doesn’t know how to release the anger and ends up snapping on people around him as a result. Even if some part of him wants friends that he can be close to, he usually pushes away anybody who tries to get to know him. He comes off as cold and uncaring, but is actually just trying to protect himself because he’s afraid of being vulnerable.
He believes that the only person he can really count on is himself and because of this he is very independent, even if he doesn’t always make the best decisions. He is often rash and impulsive which rarely ends well and he’s easily set off.
Most people would like to argue that he has no drive and is utterly lazy, but when Thane is passionate about something, he becomes as dedicated as somebody training for the Olympics. It’s just that it’s hard for him to find things he truly cares about and goals he wants to work towards.
While he’s not in the least bit a people person and struggles with small-talk as it annoys him, he does actually want relationships with people. Too bad he's quick to screw them up.

History
Thane grew up with his mother and father in Brooklyn, New York, although the marriage was doomed before it even started. Richard had an alcohol dependency problem and Christina couldn't deal with it. When Thane was ten years old, the constant fighting finally turned into a divorce, resulting in his mother moving to Maine, having taken a teaching position at a high school. Thane stayed with his father because he didn't want to leave the place that he knew, although taking care of Richard proved difficult as he was always drunk or hungover--passed out in a mess of beer bottles on the couch or screaming at Thane and sometimes physically lashing out at him.
He dealt with this by cooking, by tearing apart the cabinets in the kitchen and baking or cooking. Sometimes he'd make an entire cake and sit down with a single fork, other times he'd put what he made on the coffee table and come back later to see it gone, surely from his father.
He didn't tell his mother about Richard becoming abusive, although part of him wanted to go to Maine to live with his mother. When he was fourteen, he finally caught a break--or so he thought. He got recruited to Hammel Institute for hearing voices in his head (at least that's how he describes it). It was like someone was narrating his life, his every move. Why would he want that? What was the point of having everything you did repeated to you in an ominous narrator's voice? He knew what he was doing and sometimes he didn't want to be reminded of the things he did. It took no longer than a week before he was recruited and told he wasn't crazy, that it was a 'power.' It was a free ticket away from his dad, although part of him feels guilty for leaving him there.
