SO MUCH FOR FORESIGHT ✛ HARVEL CALAIS  ✛ Thirty-Five ✛ Animal Communication ✛ Teacher ✛ Look, a blind chemistry teacher! The newest addition to the Hammel staff, Harvell Calais  has little faith in his own abilities as an educator, and the nerves...oh the nerves!  He is in need of a few safe/comfortable spaces both inside and outside the school, among other things.  FRIENDS Harvel may be slow to warm to others, and nervous around the vast majority of folks, but those who count themselves among his friends find that he is a kind, loyal soul, who will do whatever it takes to support them in any way that he can. Those who tend to get on best with him are often a bit more outspoken and willing to play the leader to his follower, making an honest effort to drag him out of his shell (despite a token struggle), though he has a few quiet, bookish friends as well, and his favorite students tend to be the knowledge seeking sort. ENEMIES Enemies, enemies. Everyone has enemies, though Harvel does his best to avoid conflict, so he may have fewer than most. He abhors raised voices and violence of any sort. In all likelihood, he's more like to have minor annoyances and thorns in his side then true enemies, folks who walk all over him and push him around (this will likely include a fair number of students). Someone really ought to fix that, as he isn't likely to any time soon. LOVERS Shy and quiet though he might be, when Harvel opens up to someone, they find that he is a passionate soul. He's had few partners over the years, but each of them spent quite a fair bit of time with him. In short, he isn't the sort to play at one night stands or quick flings, and the concept of friends with benefits baffles him.  Unsure of himself, but willing to go the extra mile and then some for those he loves, Harvel a romantic at heart, the sort to bring flowers to a date, and then second guess bringing flowers, and then apologize for bringing flowers because gods, they're kind of cliche aren't they?  MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS, EDITED by REL

Hi, Rel! I love Harve and would love to brainstorm some plot with you.

I only have one character, Joshua Bernstein. He's twenty years Harve's senior and suuuuuuuuper outgoing. He's partner to Dr. Neville, so if Harve is friends with Sean that's an automatic in. But josh will talk to anyone in any circumstances. He has a pet bunny, so maybe they could have a run in at the pet store or vet...?

Josh is also running for town council but I don't know what extent Harve would be invested in local politics. But if you want to do something with that it is an option

...I'm sorry, I think you set off my Terrence radar.

He's the librarian, and he is a quiet, book-ish person. Well, he is the librarian, after all. I can imagine that they may or may not be good chummy pals, comfortable to be socially awkward around each other. But, he does have a stronger voice in him. He just... isn't good at vocalizing it. If a student walked over Harvel in his presence, for example, he might not say anything to the kid, but he'd pep Harvel up for the next time... even if he is almost a decade younger than him. But yeah, they could be friendly.

And Gryphon, my almost graduated sweetheart, also has animal communication, even if it's specific to birds, so there could be a funny situation there. I dunno. Just trying to throw people at you <3

Josh & Harvel - Hmm, Harve isn't really into politics, but he does enjoy a good chat with a rabbit every now and again. A pet store or vet run in could be fun. Do you have a preference?


Terrence & Harvel - He sounds like he'd make a lovely friend, the sort Harve could have a nice companionable silence with. And really, those are the best sorts of friends. I could see him getting used to Terrence rather quickly (well, quickly for him, anyway) and possibly stopping by to help him shelve books and whatnot from time to time. 


Gryphon & Harvel - Always good to have similarly gifted folks around. Perhaps one of Harve's birds could decide that he needs to get out more / needs to meet people and lead him to Gryph at some point. I feel like they make a lot of decisions / cause a lot of trouble for him, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary.

I don't have a preference. The vet might be the better option just for animal conversations. I can't think of any reason to bring a bunny to the pet store. Thoughts?

Vet it is! Skitter (Harvel's squirrel) sometimes eats things he isn't supposed to so...Should I start the thread, or would you like to?

Yes. I want these two to be buddies now. Um. D'you think they would know each other already, or would this be a case of them meeting? I don't mind either. ^^ Terrence would love to have him come help out, he likes his friends as much as he likes his books xP

Gryph+Harve
Gryphon's been doing a fair amount of contemplating recently, and going outside to be in nature and... well, be around birds. Because he needs to talk to birds more. So he could casually bump into a conversation or something - I like the idea of this ^^ My thoughts are along the lines of the fact that Gryph speaks the bird's language directly - he actually tweets and such. So... yup. I am bad at plotting. They could meet at a park or something then?

Congratulations! Harve happens to be the teacher of the one subject outside of dance or other performing arts(and home ec) that my problem child is actually interested in and enjoys. This does not mean that he is good at it; just that he makes an honest effort in the class. Considering this and the fact that he does have a reading disability that he's only recently decided to get addressed, I imagine that Oriel spends a significant amount of time outside of class trying to absorb(read: coerce) the material from(read: out of) the powers that be. And guess what? He doesn't give any *explicative deleted*s about the teacher being blind(or maybe he does?). Either way, I'm interested in plotting Oriel with you under this pretense. I must ask, is Harve brand new new or relatively new? Because this could be interesting if he doesn't know anything about Oriel.

Sounds good to me, Dryope. I'm heading out for a concert in a few hours, will try to respond when I return (or some time in the morning if I come back to exhausted to think straight).


Terr & Harve - Yay buddies! Would probably be a first meeting, or rather, I can see Harve spending a good bit of time in the library because it's quiet and people leave him be (mostly) early on, so Terr will probably have seen him a few times before actually having a chance to interact with him.

Gryph+Harve - Tweet tweet! A park meeting sounds lovely, and will probably be lead by one of Harve's birds, as mentioned earlier...because he really does need to get out more. Hell, I could even imagine one of them trying to get Gryph to follow him to Harve if he can't convince Harve to come out for a bit. Probably Anias, she's rather persistent. xP

Oriel & Harve - Neat! Harve is brand new, so he'll have no idea what he's getting himself into in any respect. Of course, it means he also won't have any preconceived notions about Oriel or his abilities either. Though, it can be said that, if he finds out how hard Oriel works outside of class, he'd be more than willing to help him study. Given how hard he's had to work, himself, Harve tends to respect those who go the extra mile.

I can see Terrence approaching him in the library (as he is at his most comfortable around his books) and asking for a chin-wag. Or more, to say hi. He's shy, not unfriendly. So yep, do we consider this plotted and see how it goes in thread?

I adore the idea of Anias trying to get Gryphon to go to Harve. I love this idea in general. Ideas involving birds are adorable. So consider this plotted too and go with it? Like I said, terrible at plotting. And I love these ideas <3

Harve/Zeb - Zeb's always good for a helping hand, a sounding board, or just a buddy to hang out with. He's got a bit of a hero complex that makes him want to solve everyone's problems and help everyone. Zeb also enjoys reading, though mostly poetry.

Harve/Harmony - Harve, meet the bane of your existence. But seriously if Harve needs a student to give him endless torture...

That's what I got off the top of my head, but if ya wanna take a look at my plotter I have other characters I'm willing to throw at ya!

Harmony & Harve Yes, please. I think it's only fair to have a few students hassling him from time to time (I might like to torture my softies a wee bit). Bring on the pain and resulting insecurity! (I might be an awful person).

Oriel/Harve - Sounds great! I can, if you’d like, start something and just go from there? Like maybe Oriel is going to his office or something to ask questions about the upcoming final or study guide or maybe he has one more make-up lab he has to complete in order to not fail the class? Or a make up exam….probably a make up exam, he doesn’t do well with written tests. Maybe discussing what they can do to ensure he doesn’t fail the class a third time. He does good in lab, just not lecture.
