The easy S T U F F . . .Name: Tessa Kerry Basset
Nickname: Tess
Age: Thirteen
Member Group: Student
Power(s): Assumed Muscle Memory
If she uses it too much she gets muscle aches and pains and if she tries to do something using assumed muscle memory that she physically can't do, it will end in injury. Sometimes when she is absent minded she copies what people do without realizing. It can cause her to act like other people if she uses it a lot.
Play By: Madison DavenportLet it F L O W . . .Tessa Kerry Basset was brought up in the west midlands of England for the first eight years of her life until her entire family (her, her parents, two older sisters and one annoying little brother) were forced to move to Germany because her father had a transfer at work. The day they left the beautiful little country cottage that she had grown in Tess started to miss everything about that house and to this day she still remembers the view of the fields from her tiny bedroom window and the nature that she had previously been surrounded by. Germany was beautiful as well but the small three bedroom apartment was never going to even begin to compare to her old home. Four years after moving to Germany, the Basset family had to move again but this time to America. Tessa's father had another transfer so this time her and her family had to move to america.
At school Tessa teased both her strange British/Germanic accent and the fact that she was extremely withdrawn at school and barely talked. She was what some people may call "a natural target". She knew that her parents had to concentrate on work and didn't need a little selfish brat like herself being in the way and wasting their time so she never told them. Tess tried missing out on school once and just sat around the back of the school, just outside the fence. When the school day would have been over she went home to find her mother sitting on the floor, terror covering her face, clutching the landline in her left hand and her mobile in her right .The school had called her because Tess wasn't there and she had called the police. They had been looking for her all day.
Outside of school she seemed like a different person. There was always a broad smile across her face and even though she had no friends other than her parents (her siblings were to annoying to count) she seemed content. She had a strange obsession over films and movies that had developed over the time she lived in Germany and since she never had any friends, she watched films instead. Tessa had an extensive collection of Tee shirts of her favourite films.
Even when things were difficult on Tessa she always tried to be positive and act like nothing was wrong and because of this many people assumed that everything was good and dandy in the life of Tessa Basset but it never quite was. She doubted herself in everything that she did and often thought of ending it but something stopped her. This unusual talent for copying what others did was becoming stronger and about two weeks after it started, she was thirteen and some people took her away to a special boarding school. Everything improved after then...
She has long, light brown hair and green eyes. Her parents had never let her get any piercings because they thought that they were disgusting but Tess wants to get her ears pierced. She has all the usual scars on knees and hands from falling ans tripping over as a child but also some in places where people can’t see that occurred when she was at her worst but she is over that stage now and is on the mend.
One of Tess’s fondest memories was of her twelfth birthday, just after they moved to America. The birthday money that she had been saving for years was finally enough to get what she really wanted, a pet. She had been obsessed with chinchillas ever since she went to the London zoo back when they had a life in England. She asked her parents if she could have one and they said that if she used her own money and got it food and cleaned it out. On the day of her twelfth birthday they went to the local pet store to get her chinchilla. He was grey and called Bertie.
When Tess uses her assumed muscle memory, she watches someone do whatever it is she copying then she mimics what they do. "It's strange" she said when explaining her skill to others "when i use it, it feels like I've done whatever it is i'm copying before, like, loads of times. To the point where i don't have to think about it but quite a lot of the time it is a new thing". It is easiest to mimic people who she can see in front of her and within a few meters of her but she can sometimes mimic from a recording or from TV. Using assumed muscle memory doesn't work for puzzle solving because the algorithms are different every time and learning skills like puzzle solving is not the same as assumed muscle memory. Tess usually forgets the movements within a few hours. She tries to train her brain started to be able to remember skills for more time. It is impossible for Tess to mimic powers and has been told that even if she trains non stop for the rest of her life, she won't be able to do so.
Tess sometimes had very little control over how power so often she finds herself accidentally mimicking by accident when she is being absent minded. In class a few times, she finds that she has put her hand up to answer a question when, in fact, she doesn't know the answer.Behind the M A S K . . .Name: Cordelia

Tess awoke to what she thought was a normal Saturday. She did the normal stuff, had a shower, got dressed (today she had a Totoro T shirt on) and rewatched a film (today life of pi) on her laptop while eating her breakfast of Cheerios and orange juice. Her parents used to at least attempt to limit the amount of time on her laptop but it was useless, she would always find a way. After finding out for the millionth time that (spoilers) the tiger never existed, she went back to her room, which she previously shared with her sister until they found out that she had been allergic to chinchillas, to check on Bertie. She always tried to spend time with him when she could but he had an awful habit of chewing wires therefore the laptop and its charger had to stay out of the room at all times.
It was about one when the doorbell was rung. Tess assumed that it was one of her sister’s friends which both had in abundance of them because neither of them were young enough to pick up any of the Germanic accent when they had lived in Berlin unlike Tess. She let someone else get the door but once it was opened she could hear that it wasn't one of her sisters friends. It was a woman. After a short while she herd her mother call for her so she put Bertie back in his cage and went downstairs to see a middle aged woman dressed a suit. Tess could see the black VW In the driveway that she had come in.
“Tessa, please tell this woman that you are not in fact a meta-human” Tessa's mother told her with a tone of annoyance in her voice. Neither of her parents were keen on meta humans.
“umm, I don’t think that I am. I can’t move things around with my mind or breath under water or anything” Tess told the woman in the doorway. “Why?” she aked turning back to her mother. After a while the woman explained to Tess that she had Assumed Muscle Memory which didn't mean much to Tess at first but eventually it turned out that her mother had been wrong.
About two weeks before hand she had started to feel odd, every now and then she would loose control over her body for a short time, probably less than a second, and copy something that someone had done or was doing. At first she found it a little scary but she had started to get used to it. She was surprised to say the least when the woman asked her to try to copy her in doing at first some simple things but then quite complicated moves that seemed to have a resemblance to jujitsu. Tess thought that she had not done any of them right but to her amazement she had done all of them perfectly.
"now, would you go and pack everything that you will need for a while." the woman said but Tess questioned it "because i'm taking you to a place where you can learn about your skill"
" how long will i be gone" Tess inquired.
"as long as it ta-" but before the woman could finish her sentence Tess's mother barged into the conversation
"Wait! my daughter is not going anywhere. She is not a Meta-human, how dare you try to take my child away from me" at this point Tess's mother pulled her to her side with her arms around her waist "you have no right to take her and can't"
"By law, she had to come with us until she can control her power" after an hour of convincing and her mother bursting out in tears twice Tessa was allowed to go upstairs and pack. When she came back down the stairs with the heavy suitcase, stuffed to the brim with all of her Tee shirts clunking down the stairs behind her she looked confused.
"sorry, but is there any chance i can take my chinchilla. Nobody in the house knows how to look after him and my sister is allergic.
"Ah" the woman walked over to the black car and popped open the boot then brought out a small travel cage for him.
Later that day Tessa was on the plane to Vermont with the woman who she now knew as Jill.
after that day, everything got better...
(I’d probably end up writing a little less because I felt the need to set the scene)
