You Can't Expect The Unexpected(Tempest)

It was getting close to the end of the school year. Somehow, Oriel hadn't done quite as badly this year as he had last year. At least this year he passed English on the first try, but he honestly had Carleigh to thank for that. If it wasn't for her amazing powers of research and ability to English, then Oriel would've just dropped that whole end-of-the-year project and taken the F until the teachers forced him into remedial classes again. Cs straight across the board for the most part, save for the easy As in home-ec and PE. He was, in all truth, looking forward to the month of freedom that July would provide. A month of freedom to do nothing but laze around doing nothing. Or maybe he could go back to job searching(which had ended in a near failure(near failure because the one job he did land was a one time gig)). He could certainly go back to bugging people left and right while he had nothing better to do while his boyfriend was away at work.

He was glad that Phoenix wasn't graduating this year. He shouldn't be, because it was good that Phoenix was making the progress he was, but the mere thought of Phoenix leaving without Oriel sent a storm of unease through his stomach that he just couldn't quell.

So putting that aside, Oriel was deep deep in practice, practicing his afternoon naps that he took regularly by the pond. He wasn't inside a tree this time, but he was lounging up against his tree, arms back behind his head and his face tilted upward towards the partially cloudy sky. He was not expecting to be disturbed on such a beautiful day.

Tempst sighed a little as he rolled over in bed, and then out off onto the floor with a hefty thud. He groaned and sort of embraced the cold floor beneath him hating the heat that surrounded him. The over heated boy headed to the shower with a change of clothes. When he got into the bathroom he undressed and turned the shower on and began to brush his teeth waiting until the shower would heat up just a little, the showers were frozen first thing in the morning and he didn't want to die of frost bite. Once done with his teeth he walked in under the cool refreshing spray and stood like that for an least ten minutes before washing in the now warmer water. With his elevated bodily temperature and the summer heat he had needed to cool down badly.



Once he done he dried himself with a sigh and got dressed in a pair of knee length shorts with some sandals and a fashionable print T-shirt with short sleeves. He saw no need to bring any kind of Jacket that day seeing as you could probably fry an egg on the tarmac. Grabbing his rucksack he packed himself a couple water bottles ,a hat, a book and then put sunscreen on everywhere that was exposed to the sunlight. After that he grabbed a pear from the fruit bowl in his dorm room and left for the pond. He liked it there and near the water there was foliage and such although admittedly there were also a lot of bugs.. It just depended where you went. With a light sigh he walked in the shadows where is was cooler every chance he got. Going to the pond he looked at the area's to sit and chose a nice big tree that had lots of lovely shade where he could relax and read without interruptions. However not really looking where he was going he seemingly tripped over someones legs.. Or a branch.. And came down to the ground with a light crack as some dry twigs snapped beneath him.

If Oriel were to be disturbed, he was expecting it to be in the form of a crowd of other jibbering kids traipsing their way to the pond so they could giggle and glee about that new dragon movie that he was probably never going to see, because let’s face it, Oriel had little to no money and what little he had, he spent on food and goods. And musicals. There was still a few that he didn’t have in his holy collection.

Oriel could also have been disturbed by one of his few friends whom he’d deemed awesome enough to enter his personal space, like one of the many female friends he’d accumulated in this school who were just itching for him to share his (un)godly hair-care techniques.

He was not expecting to be completely ignored, unseen and then tripped over like a root sticking out of the ground.

Oriel jerked upon feeling the kick into his legs, lifting them in his surprise as he snapped his eyes open to see the lump face-planted in the grass. “Huh…” he grunted at the clumsy effeminate figure.

Now a normal person would be concerned and possibly ask “are you okay?” But…this was Oriel we were talking about. And he…honestly didn’t give two shits about whether or not this person had hurt themselves from falling over Oriel’s own legs. But still, Oriel felt like he should say something. “……excuse you,” he said as simply as if he were saying ‘please’ or ‘thank you’. Then he restraightend himself back up against the tree and closed his eyes. For about three seconds. Oriel needed something to occupy his lips. He pulled out his package of menthols from his back pocked, along with a lighter, and lit himself up, blowing his first lungful of cancer into the clear blue sky above him.

Tempest scrambled to his knees blushing a little from having done something so embarrassing. "I'm so sorry!" He frowned and then nodded. "Yes sorry excuse me." He said and then looked at him. He knelt where he was and wasn't sure if he should leave or stay. He moved to his feet and dusted himself off before looking at the sky, the sun was coming through the trees leaves but there was some shade there.. And no bugs. Maybe this was the best spot. And he could make a friend. "I didn't hurt you when I tripped over you did I?" He asked pulling a few leaves from his hair before biting his lower lip with a small smile. "Can I sit with you?" He asked him and was already going to before the other said anything. He looked out at the pond and then his face scrunched up. Smoke.. He didn't mind it second hand but not so close. He went on the other side and smiled as this way the smoke blew away from him. "Want some water?" he asked him offering a bottle of the clear liquid to him. After a moment he took it or the other depending on the long haired males decision and took a long swig with a light sigh. Screwing the top back on he enjoyed the quiet but.. He also wanted to make friends with this guy.. So far he seemed... Kinda okay.. Maybe he was nice? In any case he wasn't going to go away easily. He.. Needed friends. He couldn't stand just reading another book and deluding himself for an hour that it was real. Fiction on book and their lives were very different and he wanted to know knew people after the last set he had ditched him because he was 'Boring with no Ideas or his own or opinions of his own.' According to them anyways.. But he'd shouted and yelled at them which while he showed them wrong they didn't like either.

Of course he was sorry. Everyone seemed to like being sorry over the smallest, dumbest things. Oriel rolled his eyes. “Shoot off too many of those ‘sorries’, they’ll start to to lose market value.” That is, the more you said it without thinking, the less valuable and sincere they seemed. As if saying ‘sorry’ was the answer to all the problems in the world and going to take back all the shit and inconvenience that people imposed on each other.

Oriel was expecting the kid to just be on his way after that, but apparently tripping over someone was this duckling’s way of imprinting, because apparently the boy thought that it now opened the door for them to converse and be ‘friendly’. He snorted. “Ain’t shit. I fell on lots of people under this tree,” he explained. A mischievous smirk appeared on his lips as he reminisced over those times. “I ended up in bed with most of ‘em.” He leaned forward, taking in another huff of toxin and blowing it out towards the boy. “Think that’s a responsibility you’re ready to take on?” Because Oriel was a ‘lot’ to ‘take on’. He snickered.

He shook his head, his smile shrinking into a confused purse. Really, what was with this kid?

Tempest frowned and then looked down. "But I am sorry because if I hurt you then that's not very good." he said before smiling a little bit. "So.. Water?" he asked him a full bottle taken out to offer to him again. "Yes.. No?" He asked him with a little bit of a smile. He nodded a little when he said something a little rude but too it as he was forgiven. He blinked. "You did?" He asked a little happily that he hadn't been the only one to have done it. He tilted his head and then gasped lightly blushing so deep his face was almost a tomato. "Oh.." He said quietly and then coughed a little waving a hand in front of his face. "Responsibility? Take on?" He asked him his expression a little vagrant before his eyes widened and he looked down nervous butterflies flapping around him his tummy began and he just gave a rather nervous giggled laugh before shrugging a bit looking at his shoes. He sighed and hugged his knees to his chest before looking at Oriel. "Would that kind of thing make you happy? Make you my friend?" He asked him biting the inside over his lower lip a little. He was still feeling butterflies but maybe this person would like him and be his friend... If.. He blushed lightly deeper going a very bright scarlet in color.

Oriel just snorted at the kid’s response. “No you’re not, you’re just paranoid and don’t want someone to be pissed at you for something that don’t actually matter.” Those types were annoying. Why? Because….Oriel jaw clenched as he was reminded of days in his early childhood when he thought that chanting “I’m sorry” over and over would somehow pacify the idiots who had to take care of him.

Oriel growled. Didn’t he just shake his head no? Was this kid blind or something. “No, I don’t want any wanter,” he said with clear and clipped words, the irritation starting to show more prominently in his voice.

“Yeah,” he did. Though all those people had actually been the same person, his boyfriend Phoenix. Oriel didn’t actually fall often from trees. The first time he fell asleep, the second time, Oriel had been high on pixie dust. The kid’s innocent blush and flusters did bring another smirk to Oriel’s face, however. Oriel was in no way serious about his advances, though(he never was, he was exclusive, after all), but it was always fun to see people’s reactions. And this kid’s reaction….Oriel didn’t know what to say. Oriel simply stared at the boy, completely incredulous at his question, and something evil snapped within the delinquent boy.

Arg…no! Must. Not. Take. Advantage. Of. Innocence!!

This was a looking game, unfortunately. Oriel smiled pleasantly, scooting himself closer to the younger-looking, effeminate boy. “Actually, yeah. I always do that kind of…”stuff” with my friends,” he said, emphasizing the word stuff, hopefully clarifying exactly what that meant to this little duckling. “Tell me,” he started, slipping a hand around the kid’s should slowly and gently. No sudden movements, didn’t want to scare him away after all. “Do you have any experience in that area?”

Tempest hadn't seen that he'd said no. Because he hadn't seen him do so. And he really did mean it however, he wasn't sure how to... express to him that he meant it. He looked down a little as he said he didn't want any with such a strange tone. He swallowed and then looked up at the slightly older male again and then he blinked a couple times at his question. To lie... Or tell the truth. He didn't know what to do. There was a chance that the other wouldn't like it if he said he had slept with lots of people before and there was a chance that if he said he'd never so much as kissed another person that might also deter him from accepting him as a friend. He looked down a little and then closed his eyes the arm around hims, he was very conscious of it. He looked back up at him still going all sorts of differently named reds but vermilion seemed to do the job of describing the current color in his cheeks. "I..." He began and then shook his head. "No ones asked me for 17 years until you did just now." he said choosing honesty this time hoping that he hadn't picked wrong. He wanted badly to be friends with him. He looked into the others eyes his own worried that this stranger might dislike him was there.. He swallowed and waited lips quivering not sure if he should say more, he felt frozen looking at the other, intimidated by him. This man who seemed so brash and yet so charming. And rude too but he wanted to be his friend despite it. His breathing was regular but he still felt those butterflies flapping around in his stomach making him somewhat nervous as to what was decided.

Oriel didn’t believe that people meant it when they said sorry. It was, of course, merely because he always felt like everyone was lying to him. But if people thought that he only said it as a reason to pacify a situation and not because it was sincere, then Oriel assumed that anyone who could say it so easily and quickly was the same way; just trying to pacify him without a shred of actual regret.

It didn’t matter what this kid’s answer was, Oriel just wanted to see how he responded to such a straightforward come-on. If he was experienced, great! If not, even better! Oriel could corrupt him!

Though Oriel knew he wasn’t going to actually take things that far. But it was fun to make the other person think so.

“Is that so? Seventeen years and you’ve never been with a person?” Wow, Oriel would’ve thought this kid was younger. But now there was the real chance that he was older and somehow still looking like he was just barely past puberty. Guess those kind of people really did exist.

Oriel kept his arm around the other boy, sliding his fingers gently in circled on his upper arm and keeping his smile as charming as it was the day he met Phoenix. “So…what’s your name,” he asked, casually picking of some stray lint on the boy’s shirt with his free hand.
