Time Warp: Disaster at Pre-historic Google

Ricio had never been very good at time management. Even after three years at Hammel, the fifteen year old has still not learned not to procrastinate. Partly it was that being at Hammel he finally felt that his parents cared less about his grades. They had never been exactly involved in his schooling. But he'd been taught that his grades, good or bad, reflected on them. But here it felt different somehow.

Also Hammel could often be a very distracting place. Even if all the kids didn't have abilities, being surrounded by peers who were always ready to give up on homework and just have some fun made it hard for Ricio to ever focus.

But he had a paper that was due the next day. So here he was in the library feeling like he'd been sentenced to some sort of prison. The table he was at had so many books piled on it that it was hard to even see the boy scribbling away in his notebook.

He reached out to pull one of the books out of the pile to find another quote for his paper, but in doing so caused the entire tower of books to go tumbling in every direction. He gave out a surprised yelp and immediately covered his mouth to stop the sound. The disruption caused several of the other people in the library to turn and look his way.

Scrambling out of his seat, he started to pick up the books, hoping he wasn't about to get in trouble for making so much noise.

As Gaboś walked through the doors of the library towards the front desk he thought about the recent changes that had caused him and his wife to settle down and that caused him to get a job at Hammel. Two months ago his wife had revealed to him that she was pregnant. In the time that came after they both began looking for a permanent home instead of moving around. They had eventually settled on moving to Pilot Ridge with Gaboś wanting to be some where that he felt more comfortable which was around other metas, and Adrijana saying that the area seemed the safest place they could settle.

When Gaboś and his wife had settled down in the town he had gone to the school and had applied for a position as someone who worked in a researching field. After he had been accepted he felt the need to introduce himself to the staff around the school. They were all going to be working together after all.

Gaboś had heard the crash and jumped slightly, as he had been introducing himself to the librarian at the moment it happened. He told the librarian that he would go see what had happened and headed for pile of books that had formed and the boy who was sitting there. When he reached the table he asked quietly in his thickly accented English, "Why are you causing so much noise?"

Percie had graduated from Hammel (fully graduated) a year ago but she found herself back at the library trying to find a book that would help her write a paper in one of her classes back at the community college. She was only a semester away from being able to finish her classes and starting the Police Academy. She was thrilled to finally be able to pursue her dream of being a police officer and later a detective. Her goal upon graduation was to study as hard as possible in preparation for her detectives test. But first she had to pass this other class and that meant writing a paper about...something, she hadn't decided on her thesis yet.

She had been oblivious to other people in the library until she heard a crash and immediately headed over to investigate. "Whoa, nice job kiddo," she commented right after the other man (presumably a teacher Percie didn't know) asked what he was doing. Seeing that the student was trying to pick up all the books on his own, Percie jumped right in and began to help, easily stacking and straightening the books he was missing. "Hey, have a heart mister, the kid looks sorry enough," she added with a smile. "You okay?" she then asked, turning her attention to the boy and his books.

Ricio had been busy trying to pick up the book so he hadn't noticed the older man approaching and jumped a little when he spoke. And dropped the book he'd been picking up. "I uh..." he started to say, looking up. But just then his savior arrived.

He sort of recognized the girl. Maybe she was in once of his classes or something. He was a bit busy to figure it out at the moment. Really he was just glad that'd she stepped in to defend him. He started nodding vigorously as she addressed the man.

"I'm great," he said smiling at her. "I mean I'm...uh..." he flashed a nervous glance at the man. "...thanks."

He finished picking up the books and set them down at the table before turning to the man again. "All better?" he asked, giving him a nervous grin. Getting a good look at the man, he realized he had no clue who he was. Though Ricio wasn't exactly friendly will all of the staff, he still knew most of them by face at least.

"Who are you anyway?" he asked. Then worried that sounded a bit too harsh he amended himself. "I mean, are you knew or something mister?"

Gaboś stared at the two young people in front of him with a stotic expression while they had stacked the books that the boy had caused to fall, responding first to the woman, "I was only asking the boy why he was causing so much noise in a place that is kent for quiet." turning to the boy he stared hard at him and said, "All you did was clean up a mess that you caused. The books shouldn't have fallen in the first place." When the boy asked who he was he responded, "My name is Gaboś Radić, you shall refer to me as Dr. Radić, and yes I have only recently joined this institutes staff." his voice becoming hard he asked, "Now, will you explain to me why this mess happened even happened?"
