Too Bright [Avi]

Mina was sat on a bench, body shaded by a tree, eyes shaded by her glasses, sipping from a Starbucks cup. Because this girl didn't and couldn't deal with sunlight on an average day, and today it was beaming, properly. She might have climbed into the tree and hid there if that wasn't so difficult to do with a cup of coffee in your hand. She was dressed to do such an act of gymnastics, so if she wasn't in the difficult predicament of choosing between climbing the tree or drinking her coffee, it would be obvious what she would do. Plus, being up there would keep her away from nosey people. She pushed her hair behind her ear.
She would have just gone straight home, or gone shopping or something, but... she was feeling slightly nostalgic, which Mina hadn't been planning or accounting for. She was originally planning to leave two days ago, but due to money and her mom asking if she could stay for a bit longer to be there for her sister's birthday, she was still here. She kind of minded, but she kind of didn't. She didn't like being indecisive or in between about things, so this was confusing for her as well.
The nineteen year old girl sighed and pushed her glasses further up her nose. She hadn't made much of an effort to say goodbye to anyone. The odd person might realize she had left, the couple of people she had flirted and done things with. She didn't really have anyone too close. Well, except Avi. Kind of.
What was it with the kind of's?
Mina generally stayed out of people's way, but she'd been in Avinea's company once or twice. And she wasn't... terrible. She thought that girl deserved some kind of farewell, due to the fact that she was actually a decent human being (unlike Mina herself). The video she had made... well, she hadn't even rewatched it. She cared about what she said, but she was... timid. In some circumstances. And she didn't want to see herself saying those words again. So she sent it and hoped it wasn't too mind-dullingly crap for the bright blonde girl to watch. It felt weird to do... but it was worth it. She had a small sense of closure from it, and seeing as she wasn't expecting to see the girl, maybe ever again, or at least, not for a while, it was something. And something was better than nothing.
Mina sipped her bitter coffee again.
