General Appearance: Essence has olive skin and long brown hair, dark blue eyes sit in almond shaped eyes. In the middle of her nose sits a very cute, petite nose that leads down to full, pink lips. She's rather short, 5'4 with an athletic body. There always seemed to be some sweet scent coming off from the girl, the smell of fresh bloomed flowers. She tends to wear her hair down a lot, but can also be seen with it up in a very messy bun or pony tail.
Along her body she has tattoos, all flowers and leaves. Since she found out about her gift, it only seemed fit to have them. Along each side of her chest, reaching up to her collar bone are matching sets of stems, each having leafs and flowers such as lilies and daisies litter her chest. Both of her wrists have matching tattoos as well. They are almost the same as the ones on her chest, except they have cherry blossoms on them as well as leafs and other assorted flowers. A banana barbell can be seen in her belly button as well as a small silver hoop in her nose.
Personality: Half of the time, Essence is the life of the party, talking to everyone. One could possibly say she was bubbly, but that wasn't true. In the midsts of a good time, the teen knows how to loosen up and not be on guard all the time. Those other times, much like when she is at school she's quiet and shy and is hard to hear her at times, she's very soft spoken. It takes time for the girl to open up, but once she does you'll have a friend for life. She tends to wear her heart on her sleeve, trying to help those that sometimes can't be helped or even have no desire to be helped. Essence has a bit of an independence in her that can come off as her being ungrateful and at times snooty.
She loves to see herself as a free spirit, a go with the flow type of person. There are times when Essence is a take charge of the moment type of person. Those times are only when she feels she has to. Spunky at times, if once again around the right people, she enjoys making people laugh and have a good time.

History
"When happens when a normal girl finds out that she is a meta-human and can control plant life? Well, you're about to find out. My name is Essence Slade and I was born on February 14th of all days, Valentines day in Louisiana. My parents, Marcus and Ashley met at a party one night in college and completely fell in love. Cute, huh? Yeah, moving on. They got married a year later and decided on having kids, or trying to at least. I was the third. Mom had miscarriage the first two times and was pretty scared to try to another one. I guess dad talked her into giving it one more shot, third times a charm. So, I was born a completely healthy baby girl weighing in at 5 pounds 7 ounces. Who would know that I'd grow up to be able to sprout things out of the ground and talk to plants? Sure as hell not me."
" I was a normal kid growing up, did pretty well in school. My grandfather died before I ever had a chance to meet him, only having the chance to meet my grandma. We grew pretty close over the years. She would take me to the aquarium in New Orleans and let me gawk at all the pretty animals. Mom and dad both worked, so grandma was really the one to look after me when I would get home from school or even if I needed a baby-sitter. Of course in my eyes she was the best grandma in the world, no one could ever compare. We would bake cookies sometimes and she would let me work in the garden with her planting flowers and picking fresh fruit. All memories now. I was 14 when she had a heart attack and died in her bed, hopefully it was peaceful and painless. Her funeral was when I had my first experience with my gift. "
"It was the morning of her funeral and I decided that I wanted to cut some of her roses off and put them in her casket so she would have them always. Sadly, we didn't plant them in time before she died and they had yet to bloom. I remember walking out there and seeing them, getting so frustrated and mad, the only thing I could do was sit down and cry. I was already upset about loosing my grandma and now the one thing that I could do for her, wasn't going to be done. It sucked. Soon I stopped crying and actually grabbed the rose by it's stem, not caring that the thorns were actually cutting into my skin...when the most amazing thing happened. Right before my eyes, the rose bloomed. I had never seen a rose so full and bright. The red was so vibrant, I didn't want to cut it, but knew that this was the only chance I would have, so I did. My parent's were quite shocked, much like my own surprise when it happened. I tried to get the others to bloom, but nothing. Nothing was said about it between my parents and I, but it was always in the back of our minds, especially mine."
"As the week went on I tried hard to get it to happen again, touching bushes and trees, flowers and grass. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. But the times it did happen, well it was amazing. Granted I was pretty tired after doing it. My mood had changed as well. On the days when it was cloudy or it would rain, I was in a horrible mood. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I tried to stay in my room on those days, just so I wouldn't snap at mom or dad. I wasn't trying to, it just sorta...happened. Soon though, everything was about to be revealed to my family."
"Shorty after the discovery of my talent, a man showed up at my door, asking my family if he could talk to us about something very important. Agreeing, he came in and explained to us that I was special. But there was no way for him to actually know that, I figured he was guessing. Turns out he was pretty special himself. He said that I was one of those meta-humans, also that there was a special school for people just like me who wanted to help me to control my power. I honestly was scared my parents were going to flip out and disown me. They didn't, in fact they stuck behind me every step of the way. I've been at Hammel for about 4 years now, but not too sure if anyone even knows I'm there. I tend to keep to myself, but I need to open up I think. Maybe make some friends besides plants."
Roleplay Example"
Aurora waved her hand dismissevly and shook her head " Oh no, you're fine. I was in deep thought anyways. I tend to be completely oblivious to the things around me." It was true, she did have a habit of getting too deep into her thoughts that when someone spoke to her, she just didn't hear them. Rora felt rude sometimes when that happened, but she just couldn't help it. She watched as the stranger rubbed the back of his neck and smiled at him. He was rather tall and from the looks of it kinda cute. Sadly it was starting to get dark and his face began more of a shadow figure under the bill of his hat.
Turning her head to look at the mattress, she groand quietly. The stupid thing had her temper a little up, but when he offered to help her, she turned looking at him, smiling sheepishly. " Really? You'd help me?"She knew people in this town were friendly, it was nice. She took in his appearance then and noticed light traces of grease and grime on his hands. At this point she wondered what he did, but seemed it would be rude to just ask him. " If you just got off work or something it's okay. I'm sure I could get it in the house. If not I have a perfectly comfortable couch I can sleep on." Rory really didn't want to sleep on the couch, but would rather sleep there than make the nice stranger any later or tried than he probably already was from working all day. Hell, she felt the same way at times.
He introduced himself as Drew and somehow to the woman it suited him. She was a person who fully believed that a name described a person and his name described him in her mind. As soon as her hand touched his, she found that it was extremely warm and a chill ran up her spine as goosebumps spread out across her skin. She didn't realize she was that cold until the two touched." It's nice to meet you as well." She chuckled and blushed lightly when she saw Drew's grin. Rora wondered if he was teasing her about her little problem with her mattress. When he pulled it down by herself Aurora's jaw almost dropped. How unfair. Shaking her head lightly she moved infront of it " Sounds like a plan. I'll back it in.
