Powers: Avian manipulation and communication

-Martha has the gift of talking to and controlling birds and only birds. She can ask them to be her eyes in the sky and they can help her find destinations or even spy on people.

-The problem with her power is that when summoning a bird to approach her that the bird would have to be within a 100 metre radius.

-She simply talks to the birds and the birds talk to her through her mind. She has problems focusing when she is outside as all she hears when she is on her own are birds having conversations to one another or all talk to her at once.

- She can use the birds she controls to hurt her enemies on command or even when she is stuck on homework. (Birds can be helpful)

- She can get headaches with all the birds talking to her through their mind but they are not really bad headaches she just finds them a pain and also she finds that she has the loss human communication skills. and it takes a while before she fully understands what a person is saying after she talks to a bird.

General Appearance: You would not say that Martha is a typical looking American as she has a very pale skin colour which she has in all seasons. She is rather small, when I say "rather" I mean very as for a 16 year old she only stands at 5ft tall. She has a slim figure and her distinctive feature is her thick eyebrows which makes her look a bit like a bird of prey. 

She wears ordinary styles- not boyish, not girly just plain. She only wears rouge on her cheeks normally and when at special events she is known to wear a pale lip gloss. She never wears high heels or dresses just shirts and trousers and maybe shorts if it's a good day. She has medium length hair which she always likes twirling in her fingers.

Personality: Martha is a right laugh especially with her friends and brothers. She is not a prankster but she loves making people happy. She is trustworthy and loyal to friends and family. She likes helping people out. She tends to stick up for her friends if they are in an argument and she not that shy she would easily go up to a stranger her age and start talking to them. She does not hurt people emotionally but if they were getting on her nerves and bullying her she would set her birds on them.

 She has not got a passion as she does many things such as sport and art and clubs but in a way she is a jack of all trades, master of none. She always wants to please her siblings by doing things for them like cleaning and even helping them with homework. She is quite rough when with her siblings but tries not to be rough with her friends or parents. She is quite quiet when alone and she tends never to be seen by herself only with friends as she hates being lonely.

History

 

 It is clear that Martha is lucky to be in the Ingram family, she is the last child to Eve and Tony Ingram and she is the only daughter of the parents. Her parents loved all their children equally. After six years of a happy marriage they decided to have a baby and when they found out they were going to have twins they were over the moon. When both boys, Freddie and Joey were born it was obvious that Eve and Tony wanted a big family.

 Her mother wanted to wait until the twins were at least two before having another child and Tony agreed. They had another son, Marcus when the twins were two They grew up happily together with their parents. Her mother started to have second thoughts about having another child as she did not know what way it would take its toll  on the boys but she decided that she wanted the boys to grow up with lots of family beside them.

 Tada! Martha Jessie Ingram was born. She grew up loved but NO favouritism in the family. She grew up outside Boston Massachusetts in Milton and she seemed like a usual little girl. Going through phases of things she is obsessed with but one thing that did not change through phases was her obsession with birds.

 At the age of eight she was given the responsibility of a pet parrot an African grey to be exact. She named it Barney. She loved it dearly and she taught it tricks and let it out in her room for a while everyday. She had not received her powers at that age so she had to teach Barney the old fashioned way.

 She loved laughing with her brothers especially her twin brothers as she found that they were loving but also were quite immature for their age as they always loved to play practical jokes on Martha. She loved being pranked and pranking them.

 When she was 10 her brothers played a prank on her she would never forget- they told her that she could feed their pet ball python Tyson but what they did not tell her was that Tyson ate small birds. She stayed in her room for a while after that and never looked Tyson in the same way again. That is why she dislikes snakes.

 

 Her powers manifested when she was eleven and it happened at the weekend where she was with her friends and then two of her school bullies came walking up to her making fun of her. She was so angry when the bullies left that she started to hear voices and I mean lots of different voices then she noticed they were coming from the sky and a bird walked up to her and it said to her through her mind It was a weird experience normally you don't expect a crow to come up to you and actually talk to you.

 Two weeks after the first bird incident she started experimenting with her power and she finally got to have a normal conversation with Barney instead of her doing all the talking but then she got a recruiter at the door telling her about a boarding school in Vermont and that of course she was a meta. She loved her family and they knew she should go and she was so excited about improving her power she was happy to go.

She has adapted well to five years at Hammel, she has knows who she is with the help of her feathery friends and she could not ask for more.

 

Roleplay Example

Martha's face was chalk white, more chalk white than usual. She was not scared about the bullies oh no, they were gone. Instead it was the new strange voices whispering in her head all hard to understand as they were all overlapping each other. She did not notice her friends were looking at her and that they knew something was wrong with her. "What's wrong Martha?" their voices sounded so distant with numerous voices in her head.

 "I got to go" she managed to say and she walked away putting her hands tightly round her head. She did not know what she was trying to do, maybe she was trying to suffocate the voices so they would die away but it was not happening they seemed to be following her. Then one voice came louder and clearer than any of the other voices it was as if someone was talking beside her normally.

 Martha looked around and then the voice said the same words again but this time Martha clicked on- "Hey Martha I am down here" she looked down instantly, it was a crow looking up at her. "Can you talk?" she whispered shakily to the bird. She would have shouted if it had not been that they were in a town full of people. "Yes Miss Ingram" the bird said. She did not need to say anything else as she walked all the way home and the bird walked beside her, the bird must have known that she did not want to go home alone.

 What the hell was wrong with her she was know some weird bird lady who could talk to birds and she guessed all those voices she heard in her mind were other birds, maybe in the sky. She smiled she thought about it she had a gift. Now was the time to experiment.

First, she requires at least one more side effect for her power, aside from the headaches. I suggest temporary loss of human communication skills, or bird-like behavior.

Second, if she had only had her power for two weeks, she would not have had the control necessary to send a bird on a task like stalking that boy. However, she could have asked it to look for her, and depending on the bird's personality and their relationship, it might have done so anyway. Please just clarify that it was a request and not a controlled action.

Once these changes have been made, please bump the application so staff can review it again.
