Question about powers.

So I just had some questions before I actually start the application. First, I noticed that it was listed you could have two powers if they were closely related, so what about manipulation of both the light and the dark? If not, that's fine, just thought I'd ask. And second, how exactly does the manipulation of light work, because the description, or at least the one I found, didn't really give all that many details? Would my character be able to manipulate it into physical objects? Because that's what I would really be hoping for?

This is sort of how I was envisioning my characters ability. The simplest form being messing with lights in rooms, making them brighter or dimmer, even changing their color and luminescence. The next step up would be manipulation of light in it's ethereal form. And the final stage would be manipulating the ethereal light to have a physical form, but still look like just light. I could go into more detail if you'd like, but I would like to know if it's going to even be possible for my character first.

And now for the side effects. The ability relies heavily on the individuals physical strength as a source of energy, but doesn't go into effect until after the individual is finished using it. For instance if you were to use the ability consistently for about two hours, it would be highly likely you would collapse from exhaustion afterwards and not be able to move for quite some time. Also expect to be EXTREMELY hungry. And physical manipulation of the light takes the heaviest toll.

To answer your first question: Light/Darkness manipulation is actually listed together on our power list. One can have light manipulation alone, and shadow manipulation is separate because shadows are not darkness. So, yes, light and darkness manipulation would be acceptable.

Second, I am not entirely clear on what you mean by ethereal light. Light constructs could be possible, as we have had shadow constructs before.

The side effects seem solid, although I would also ask to include light sensitivity or poor night vision as well, as those tend to be standard for those powers.

I didn't really know how else to describe it. What I meant was simply light in it's original form, like what you see in a light bulb. Ethereal seemed to be the only word I could think of at the time. Sorry if that caused some confusion.

So, I'm actually leaning more towards having my character just being able to manipulate light, but if they had both would they be both sensitive to light and have poor night vision? Or because they have an ability with both, would the strengths of the respective abilities balance out and negate the sensitivity and poor vision?

One more thing. I read that sometimes characters can have their abilities manifested earlier in their life, but what about the ability not manifesting itself until later on in their life? I'm sorry if it's already listed and I didn't catch it.
