Blistering Heat & Meeting a Bishop (Kaillin)

"I guess I never thought about learning anything other than English aside from the required language classes in highschool." She took Spanish in 9th grade, so she really didn't remember anything other than si and ¿Dónde está el baño?. Hey, at least she'll never have bathroom issues in a spanish speaking community, right? "Sort of - You know, with that accent of yours, I think most people wouldn't even care what you were saying. I know a few people who fawn over an authentic french accent."

Her, though? All she could think of Mr. Carter Chevalier and how he essentially was a secondary source to Salem's despondency, which didn't make for a pleasant association.

However, she was finding it more and more obvious that what she said had some sort of slang meaning to it, which shocked her a bit. Kailin was usually so used to being understood. She figured, though, that it'd be best to just ignore the comment because it wasn't worth explaining in detail. Everyone was their own person, and therefore had their own preferences in everything - especially movies. However, she laughed a bit at his semi-accurate assumption on the concept of the movie, "No, It's many sharks being taken around a city and terrorizing the town. And eating people. Everything that science states is completely disregarded and is so cringe worthy that I just... I don't even know to describe it."

"So what types of things do you like to watch?"

"It's a good idea. You'd probably pick it up quickly." She seemed smart. Julien couldn't help but roll his eyes at what she said next though. "Ugh," he groaned. "Sometimes I feel like that's all I am. My french accent. Then people figure out how weird I am and they usually get past it...and leave." He laughed, slightly nervously. He hated how people just liked to listen to him talk for his accent. "Although I guess it does make the stupid things I say sound better." He shrugged.

"That sounds ridiculous," Julien said, at the thought of what Kaillin had described. "Sounds hard to describe. Are you going to go to the theaters to see it?" It was an innocent question...for the most part. "I mean, I'd really like to see what you mean by a moving being so bad that it's fun to watch..." Oh man, could he be any more awkward about this?

"I'm actually really into indie movies. You know, the stuff on Netflix that never makes it to the theaters. There's a lot of artistic vision in those."

"Well, when you have us American girls who are as shallow as a kiddy pool, you have to deal with it." Kailin was only being honest to a certain extent. Had she told him she wasn't very keen on his accent, she feared she might lose decent conversation and a potential friend. Some things were best left unsaid, Kailin realized.

"It is ridiculous." The Blonde offered, with a suppressed laugh. Thinking about the ludicrous movie had her shaking her head, but she could help but utter the light giggle that came with it. "But it's on syfy only, I think. So no." But his extension of the question had her a bit confused. What did he mean he would like to see what she meant? "Well, It's on Netflix too, so I'm sure you could look it up?"

Because Kailin was completely oblivious to being asked out on any sort of date. Then again, she didn't want anybody asking her out. She was in a 'no relationship' mentality, and so all indicators, even if they were simply innocent in nature, went over her head.

"I haven't seen many indies, but the ones I have seen are pretty good. It's really amazing to see what people can do with such a small budget."

"You realize you just included yourself in that group..." Julien trailed off. "I'm sure you're not shallow. I mean, not all American girls are." He smiled sheepishly at her. "Sometimes I just want to meet someone who is disgusted by a French accent, you know? Because then it's just me from the beginning...not my accent." He was rambling, but it was true. It had happened when he'd transferred schools to Vermont from France. The girls swooned. He was sure they made conversation with him to hear his voice rather than what he'd actually said.

"Oh." He hadn't realized that it wasn't coming to theaters. He'd just assumed. Guess he wasn't so knowledgable about movies...which was funny considering he wanted to be a filmmaker and he worked at the movie theater. He'd been trying to ask her to go see a movie with him. "I just figured...that maybe you could try to open my eyes to the fun of seeing a horrible movie."

"That's what I think!" Julien agreed excitably. "I feel as if the character development is just..so much more raw."

"I'm always an exception to the rule- blonde in a family of primarily brunettes. Straight A student with a 4.0 GPA." Kales laughed then, but leaving out the fact that she also was not fond of his accent was only because she still was hesitant on figuring out how he'd react to it. Saying he wanted to hear it was one thing, but actually hearing it was another.

"Or maybe it could just be about your accent that they can't get over, and then you still have a dilemma there." As a younger sibling, it came naturally to contradict those around her every once and a while, even if they had absolutely no relation to her. It came naturally to the blonde, just like, despite the fact that she was hesitant at first, it was natural for the girl to want to maintain conversation once it had begun. "When another comes out, maybe i can text you and let you know?" It was an invitation to ask for his number, and to receive hers.

Personally, Kailin wasn't the girl to go to when it came to film critiquing and anything creative - Photography was interesting, yes, but she found it difficult to analyze using a creative perspective. The blonde was very much an analytical thinker if those left brained vs. right brained tests had any relevance, but that didn't stop her from nodding, slightly amused by his reaction. "I haven't seen too many yet. Maybe two or three."

"That's exceptional," Julien commented lamely, about her GPA. She must work really hard and he suddenly felt like somewhat of a slacker. "If you're an exception to most rules does that mean that you don't like my accent? Despise it even? Does hearing me talk make your ears bleed?" He was truly curious and asked all of these questions with a grin.

"Yeah, sure. That sounds good. Do you need my number?" Of course she did. Why was he asking that? "I guess I'm really bad with the pop culture movies," he said with a shrug. There were some really cool theaters that showed indie movies. That was always an experience. He suddenly wanted to educate her on indie movies.

"Do you always ask this many questions?" Kailin said lightly, deflecting the questions that were being thrown her way with a childlike expertise. It was kinder than saying 'I'd rather not say' because that really did give away her answer, if only in a roundabout way. She noted his active curiosity and while that was an admirable quality, it still could become a bit of a hassle should he request more personal information.

Kailin nodded then, her hand reaching behind her to grab the cell phone out of her back pocket. It was usually customary for the blonde to ask because, for some odd reason, nobody ever was the one to request hers first. Sometimes she wondered, but that would delve into her own self worth, and that was not something the 17 year old wanted to fall into. Kailin was worth something, but it was a fact she continuously had to remind herself of as of late.

The digressional internal comments aside, she pulled up her contacts and handed him the phone to insert the telephone number. "I'll text you from my phone so you can get mine. Sound okay?"
