[Peter Longfield]

Peter Longfield came to the institute over 20 years ago and has just kind of stayed on. He started out as a student is now a professor of mathematics and a trainer in shapeshifting.

He's 32 years old and not just a little gay. Girls kind of...scare him. Peter is a very laid back kind of guy and can be quite shy, especially if he thinks you're flirting with him. He's never going to be the life of the party and would in fact probably prefer to be curled up in a corner with his nose in a book.

Peter is a shapeshifter and can often be found as some small furry creature exploring the grounds or simply enjoying a warm afternoon in the sun.

BUDDIES

Peter is the kind of guy that is well-liked but has only a few really close friends. He would likely gravitate to people who are as geeky as he, be it about math, or literature, or scifi.

MY BROTHER'S KEEPER

Peter can be a bit flaky and since he's been here for a while, I thought it might be nice for him to have sort of a close mentor-relationship with one of the older staff. Someone to remind him about the research project he needs to finish or that there's a midterm he needs to write.

ENEMIES

As easy-going as he is, Peter gets on with most everyone, but he does tend to be an excellent target for bullies. He has little tolerance for bullies among the students as well.

X's AND O's

Peter is never going to be the one to make the first move and he is not a one night stand kind of guy. Peter tends to throw himself completely into a relationship and is looking for someone who isn't afraid to commit. Not that he's looking to get married, but he's had enough of being cheated on.

[Dr. Sean Neville]

I offer Sean Neville for the close mentor relationship. He is about twenty years older than Peter and began working as the psychiatrist at Hammel at roughly the same time that Peter began as a student. He's a telepath which tends to make these relationships both simpler and more complex simultaneously.

He's fairly easy going and good with advice, as well.

That sounds awesome Sean. Peter is fairly low maintenance, he just needs to be nudged back on track every now and then. And he isn't close with his real family any more, so the institute has become his surrogate family. He might even have a tiny crush on the man. One of those kind of things that he wouldn't actually know what to do if it was returned. More admiration than crush (but Liam Neeson is SUCH a hot older guy, how could anyone resist).

Sean can do nudging easily; he can also do bribery if necessary.

They're alike in a few ways, since he also isn't close to his family (his parents are dead, his sister doesn't speak to him, and his nephew is the only exception to the lot).

And I'm up for the admiration and possible crush; Sean would politely not mention it but would likely find it flattering if also baffling.

Peter can be bribed with Swedish Fish, Red Bull, and Chocolate covered espresso beans or with a fun new math problem

So you wanna go ahead and get a post going? Maybe they have a weekly meeting or something where Sean surrepticiously checks up on the geek? I'm pretty much up for anything.

If Peter's afraid of women, he'll be terrified by Ingrid. But once Ingrid gets a look at him, she wouldn't leave him alone. Seeing as how he's shy and bookish, I imagine Ingrid would be keeping tabs on him and probably pestering him with frivolous questions every time she see's him in the staff lounge. If she finds out he lives alone, Ingrid would be forcing dinner invitations on him since she holds the belief that most men cannot cook.

Ingrid would be the pushy, crotchety sand controlling woman who'd try to act like Peter's mother, since he's not unlike her eldest son. Otherwise she's rather bookish herself, and though her focus lies in the sciences, she is kind of 'geeky'. She's been at Hammel for a few decades, so she'd probably already know Peter. So here you go, I offer her up for your amusement.

Ingrid sounds like an awesome mother figure! He's been at the institute since he was 10, which gives him 22 years to get over being scared of her. Maybe they can eve swap recipes. Peter loves to try out new vegetarian dishes. And sometimes he just likes to hang out with someone quiet when he's shifted into one of his adorable little creatures. He definitely needs someone to help him with his wardrobe. For a gay guy, he has absolutely no fashion sense XD

Ingrid has a weakness for small, cute animals and would certainly not mind having a shifted Peter around. She wouldn't mind recipe swaps, though she'd still insist on dinners at her place. She's just like that to the younger staff members.

As for wardrobe; Ingrid likes classy clothing. If Peter was to even hint he needed help getting dressed, she'd be pulling out dress shirts, slacks, and vests. Ingrid's of the mindset that every man should dress like it was still the 1940's. And of course, Ingrid would be up for acting like a mother figure. If he's been around long enough to be her student, Ingrid see's him as an adopted son anyway.

Lol, Peter would NEVER ask for help with his dress, but it's painfully obvious that he needs a bit of assistance every now and then. So would you like to get a post going?

Totally. Dimitri would love that. He can also stop by Peter's classroom when his brain is turned all the way up and stuff. I think that they could be awesome super geeky friends.
