Mel was shocked. She wasn't really use to people objecting to her paying for a meal or anything. "Well no one says I have to pay I just want to. It's the gentle women thing to do after all haha".

If people weren’t objecting to pay for themselves then they either had no backbone or didn’t know what being independent meant. Mia had both, fortunately, well fortunately for her, not very fortunate for Mel. She raised an eyebrow, “Gentlewoman thing to do? And what if I wanted to be the gentlewoman, and pay for the dinner?” She sighed, “Mel You have done so much tonight, just let me at least pay for myself..”

"Really its okay. Im getting my employee discount so were saving if I pay. Plus its what you do when you take someone out. If it makes you feel better I can totally stick you with the bill on our next date" she joked. "I cando the whole damn I left my wallet at home and everything ". Though Amelia would never do that. Either she paying all or she paying half.

Mia wasn’t sure how she felt about Amelia trying to already wear the pants in the relationship.. She’s never dated a girl before, and maybe it shows… She crossed her arms, not really giving in, the discount thing did make sense. But she could still give Mel the money for her dinner. “Mel.. You have done so much tonight. And I don’t feel comfortable with you spending even more money on me.” She did not care if this was a date or not. She did not feel comfortable having someone spend so much money on her, it wasn’t right, especially on the first date.

Then Mel had to go make a very sexist joke, “Excuse me? So you think that you can make feel ‘worthy’ by an excuse?” Whether or not that was a joke did not make it okay. Mia was not okay with the fact that Mel seemed to see her has the ‘sub’ of the relationship.
