Cam had felt entirely guilty for leaving Hammel the first time around, right before he was on the edge of plunging into a long and dark depression. Yes he had been a coward. He had run away from his problems instead of facing them, and that was something he had to live with. But that didn’t have to stop him from being a good person. Good people could make stupid decisions, right?

Taking his bike out for the trip, Cam swallowed the lump in his throat. They really had all graduated. This was real. Like some kind of strange limbo between being housed altogether and the next moment going out into the real world. Who made this system anyways?

He sighed, taking off the helmet when he parked. Goodbyes were never easy, but he didn’t plan on staying gone too long. He would always consider Vermont his home away from home. He didn’t regret going back to California when he had, only that he had hurt so many people in the process. But he was better now. He could make things normal.

Finding the button on the apartment complex that read ‘Ominotago’ Cam pushed it and waited for a response. “Hey Tak, it’s Cam.” He paused for a response. “Ya gotta let me in babe, I bring gifts!”

This time, he wasn’t going to leave without saying goodbye, not to her.

Tak hadn't looked back since she left Hammel. Not a lot, at least. She still visited friends there, like Oriel, especially since he was going through such a rough time. But, emotionally, she was pretty much over the school. She had some good memories there, but Tak was looking forward to moving on with her life and leaving her rollercoaster teenage years behind her. That school had too many painful memories for her to feel like she would really miss it.

She would miss some of the people though, of course. Especially Cam, who had only recently returned and now was going to go off to college somewhere out of state so visits would be very infrequent. Tak was happy for him, but she was going to miss him.

At least this time he'd given her fair warning. When the buzz alerted her that someone was downstairs, she smiled upon hearing who it was. "Hey Cam," she replied, already unlocking the door. "Come on up, hun. It's just me." Gryph was out for the day, doing who-knew-what (probably with Kodi). Cam would be met with an open door and Tak standing in the doorway, a peek of stomach showing between her short crop-top and tiny shorts. "A token of one kiss on the cheek is required to enter," she told him with a sly smile.

"Yay, more for me," Cam teased, pulling open the door, his gift carefully tucked under one hand. Cam was dressed fairly casually, a white v-neck t-shirt fit just right over his slender body. Dark wash jeans and bulky shoes completed the rest of the outfit.

Seeing Tak, Cam gave her a big bear hug and took a closer look at her. "You're looking hot as ever," he said, emitting a small giggle before giving her another hug. Even though things had been tense when he first got back, he didn't want things to stay that way between them. Especially since he had made the time to meet their daughter.

Letting himself in, Cam spun around on the spot, walking backwards until he reached the nearest table or counter, placing the gift on top. "That's for you," he said, reaching out a hand to her, "but not until you give me a tour of your new place!"

Tak would be lying if she said she wasn’t still attracted to Cam. He was a beautiful soul, and she enjoyed every minute she spent around him; she was smiling already even as he walked through the door. “Do you look bad in anything?” she teased, tugging a little on the collar of his shirt. “Because I’m starting to doubt it.”

When he returned her compliments, she grinned broadly, trying to hide the faint blush on her cheeks as she hugged him back. “You’re a flatterer,” she retorted, looping her arms around his neck and giving his cheek a kiss. Tak still struggled with the fact that he’d left and come back, but she didn’t show it as much as she did when he first showed up again. And now that he was leaving again, she struggled to know how she was feeling. At least she was away from Hammel now.

She followed after him with a smirk, stretching her arms over her head so the peek of stomach under her shirt became more of a full-on display until she relaxed again. “Aw, hun, you shouldn’t have,” Tak smiled, taking his offered hand and giving it a squeeze. “Seems like a fair trade. Gryph isn’t home, but he pays more than half the rent because… Well, he has more money, and it’s a nice place.” She chuckled and tugged him to her bedroom first, which was decorated as one might expect – with draping fabrics over her bed and crystals decorating the shelves, and dream catchers and other gypsy-ish décor that she so enjoyed. “Here’s my place,” she told him unnecessarily with a wave of her arm.

The apartment swelled with laughter, and Cam only smiled wryly at the compliment. "I look better without anything," he added with a wink. They say that the man made the clothes, but, Cam thought that most people would agree that he was far more attractive without anything on.

"I thought flattery would get me everywhere," Cam mused, running a couple fingers through her hair when she went in for a kiss. They could've been so much more than they gave themselves credit for. But Cam wasn't one to dwell on the past if he could help it.

Watching Tak stretch was so unfair - didn't she know what she did to him? She had to be doing this on purpose. "But I wanted to, so don't rain on my parade," he said, marching in place a little bit. Peeking into her bedroom, Cam approved it with a couple nods. "No doubt, I don't think Gryph has the same taste in decor." He looked over at her with a smirk, playful as always. "But I wanna see his room anyways, you know, just to compare."

Tak snorted in response to Cam’s words. “I’d have to agree,” she told him with a sly wink. “Although I’m pretty sure I could say the same about myself as well.” Even post-baby, Tak was proud of her body. Sure, she had a few more curves than she used to, but she thought she rocked them. And confidence was hella sexy.

“Mmmm… You know I’m not a fool to always fall for compliments,” she replied coyly with a wink. Tak had often spent nights wondering how much closer they might have gotten had Cam not left . The more she thought about it, though, the more she was…. Sort of glad it hadn’t happened. She valued her independence too much.

Yes, she was very aware what she did to him, and that didn’t stop Tak any. She enjoyed the power she had over thirsty men… Heehee. “I won’t,” she promised with a smile. Tak laughed at his comment about her room. “No, he’s a bit more boyish, believe it or not,” she quipped. She nodded at his request, leading him past the bathroom and to the other side of the hall, where Gryph’s room was. “Be careful what you touch… He and his boyfriend get awfully loud and playful in here sometimes,” she warned with a snicker. Her roommate’s room was fairly plain, especially compared to hers. “Mine stays pretty quiet most of the time, unfortunately,” Tak sighed. “Haven’t really had a good romp since Hammel.” She hoped she could find some casual hookups once she started college… Should be pretty easy. The only problem was finding boys and girls that weren’t just assholes looking for sex.
