Time Warp: Finally (Open)[Trigger]

Each day was seeming to get longer and longer as Tak's due date drew closer. Getting around was immensely hard with all the weight she had gained, not to mention the backaches and other pains that came alone with it. She spent most of her time now trying to relax and prepare herself for the upcoming days, wishing she had someone dependable she could turn to when she was feeling particularly weak...

But Cam was gone, and Oriel was having his own problems. Her other past hook-ups, she was certain, wouldn't give her the support she wanted. So Tak was alone in this, managing to keep her chin up despite the rude remarks and internal struggle she was dealing with. Her daughter would be worth it, she was sure.

She was seated in one of the padded chairs in a corner of the library, tucked away reading a book about tarot reading and other fortune-telling activities. It was hard to get comfortable, and she kept shifting around, half-tempted to just check out the book and take it back to her room where she could be more-

"Ow," she hissed as a sharp pain spasmed from her abdomen. They'd been happening more frequently lately, which made her incredibly nervous. Having read up on what she should expect when the time came, she knew that this sort of stuff was normal, but... They were really starting to hurt. Tak grimaced and pressed a hand against her stomach, waiting several more seconds before the pain finally subsided and she could relax again. It was getting close. She knew it was. But Tak wasn't sure what she should do until the signs became more obvious that she needed to get to the hospital.

Chester had been anticipating the birth of his best friend's child for a while now and he had purposely been putting his ear to the ground, so to speak, to find out when the brunette carrying the child was going to be in labour.

He picked up on her thoughts right as he was in the middle of a meeting with an associate at the firm. He knew it would be completely unprofessional if he had to cut it short but he made sure all the important stuff was out of the way before he left.

It was weird walking through the gates of Hammel without the sole intent of going to Calliope's room to visit her, as he was wont to do in recent months. Weirder still walking up to the library in the attempt to find Tak, someone he had been avoiding for so long.

"I heard...the pains." Chester announced right when he found the brunette.

Tak wasn’t sure what to do. She was afraid to get up, in case her…. Contractions got worse, or her water broke, or… Something that was going to happen eventually but she was just extremely worried about. She didn’t know if she should text someone, or if she should try to find an adult like Dr. Neville to help her, or what.

She decided to stay where she was, trying to keep her breathing even as she experienced a couple more painful contractions, which slowly felt like they were getting closer together. Tak had just decided that she better go and try to find someone when a familiar voice reached her past her wincing.

Her eyes shot up and met Chester’s, clearly filled with the pain that she realized the redhead might be able to feel himself. “Ches-“ her word was cut by another wince, and she sucked in a quick breath, waiting a few moments until the pain subsided momentarily again. “I-I think it’s coming soon,” she breathed out. Tak was relieved that someone, at least, had come to her aide, and someone she felt she could trust – their last meeting had been far from unpleasant, despite their history. “I’m…. I know I should probably get up, but I-I’m afraid.” The Native woman, proud as she was, rarely admitted when she was anxious or scared, but now wasn’t the time to hide anything.

She didn't need to tell him about her anxiety but the fact that she did concerned Chester even more. The telepath nodded before he slipped his phone out of his pocket to dial for an ambulance.

"It's fine. I've called for an ambulance." Chester breathed calmly, as calmly as the nineteen year old could muster. "Uh...did you um...go for classes to deal with this?" He asked, gesturing to her belly.

Tak, in her slight panic, forgot that Chester would be able to tell how much she was freaking out internally. “I-I wasn’t s-sure if I should call or not yet….” she breathed as Chester reached for his phone and dialed the ambulance. She felt her heart pound even faster. This was really happening.

She grunted in pain through another contraction as the redhead called in, thinking they felt like they were lasting longer and happening closer together. Her water hadn’t broken yet – at least she thought, although she was very certain she would be able to tell – so she wasn’t sure if it was better to keep sitting or to try and walk around. “Y-yeah, I um, I took some…” she grimaced, hand pressed against her stomach. She knew she was supposed to relax, but that was hard to do when she imagined what she was going to have to be pushing out of her body soon. “Oh, God, this is really happening…” Tak looked up at Chester, then decided it probably wouldn’t hurt for her to stand. She remembered reading that walking might help speed up the process, so she, with great effort, got to her feet. Without thinking, she reached for Chester’s hand for support.

Nodding, Chester was trying not to panic himself. As if his own thoughts were not muddled enough, having Tak's panic screaming in his head almost sent him overboard. He had to remind himself that this was not a moment for him to overreact.

The images in Tak's head immediately started forming in Chester's, causing him to dig his fingers into his palms. "Calm down, Tak. I don't mean to be selfish here but I'm quite happy knowing I will never need to pass even a pea out of me let alone a..." he shuddered before shaking his head.

"Sorry...not about me." The moment the words left him, he blinked and shook his head. He couldn't believe he just apologised. Thankfully, Tak was getting up and without thinking, he gripped Tak's hand to steady her. "What did you learn in class? About...calming yourself?"
